Margot shifted her gaze from Curtis to her own hand, which held the knife against his chest.

There was a moment when she really wanted to stab him. However, even if she had stabbed him, he probably still wouldn't let her go. Realizing the futility of violence, she decided to forgo hurting him.

Margot withdrew her hand and tossed the knife aside.

Curtis, observing her every move, felt a slight comfort within. He tightly held her hand and peered into her eyes. "You can't bear to let me die, can you? I still have a place in your heart, right?"

Margot, with an emotionless expression, responded, "It's not reluctance. I just want to live an untainted life with the most important person in my life."

Besides, murder was against the law. So how could she just break it?

"I knew it. I still hold an important place in your heart!"

Curtis was convinced that he was the most important person in her life. He knelt before her and reached out to embrace her, burying his head in her arms.
