CHAPTER 6

Enzo Barone

I was pacing through the corridors, waiting anxiously for my bride at my new mansion or to say , our home. The mansion was gifted by my father to us , according to him, that bachelor pad was way too small for me to start our new family or, according to him, a new family. Starting a family or having a child with a Marino colds my blood; even sharing a roof with her brings the worst beast out of me and having a family…that's impossible.

I'm just amazed by my dad how seriously he's taking this marriage contract. Making me shift from the city to a rural area just to have a peaceful and happy marriage life is seriously pissing me off.

I've to hire a completely new staff for the house from scratch last minute.  A new housekeeper and kitchen staff to keep all the tasks running until I hire some new people for complete maintenance of the house.

Standing near the garden, I feel how cold the house is, and Bella's presence won't bring any change to this. I already had her bedroom picked out down the hall parallel to mine, the only master bedroom in the same wing as mine, as the rest were occupied by the staff.

If I had it my way, Bella won't be under the same roof as me but some things are beyond my control now. I've to abide by the rules of the contract according to which I must live with her together under the same roof.

The whole thing is just pissing me off more, and I desperately need a drink to wash away all the agony, but before that, I've to see my new bride. What's taking her so long!?

Luca, my first-in-command, my most trusted and my only friend entered the hallway and passed me a drink. We grew up together, and he, too, belongs to a mafia family but a different type of mafia, like the one that kills and cleans up the mess. I could never count how many people Luca would've killed and I'm sure he doesn't know the number as well.

“Your new bride isn't here yet!?” Luca asks, smirking.

“ Her father said she needed to get her stuff from the house.” I shrugged and took a sip from the glass.

“ Might be a lot of stuff” he comments.

“Huhh… spoiled little princess of daddy!” I scoffed, disgusted.

An alert sounds on his phone and he quickly reaches for his phone in his pocket and announces, “They're here.”

“You already installed the motion detectors?”, I question.

“Motion detectors and security cameras everywhere. It was done instantly when your father finalized the property.” He glanced at me.

“Well, that's good.”

The front door opens, and there comes my wife with a man whom I recognize as Fabio. They were two bodies and one soul as far as I remember as kids. It was hard to win her attention over Fabio as a kid, but I did, and it went downhill as we parted ways too soon.

Fabio used to love Bella. His eyes were the biggest evidence of the love he had for her. Probably still is.

He enters with a brown leather suitcase and stands behind Bella, meeting my gaze. I stare at him and the suitcase he's carrying.

“Do you need Luca to help with the rest of the luggage?” I ask him.

“ What other luggage?” He cocks a brow at my question.

My eyes move to my new bride. She's no longer wearing a wedding gown. She's dressed in an oversized tee and yoga pants.

“Is this all the luggage you have?” I am confused.

She nods, suddenly looking embarrassed and stressed.

I moved forward and flicked open the suitcase he was holding and dumped all the things on the floor. I glanced at the pile of clothes or rags I could say.

“ What are you doing? These are my clothes and belongings?”, she exclaims and kneels to gather the stuff.

“ These are clothes? Do you call them clothes? These are rags, Bella. We're Barones. We have a reputation to uphold. You can't go around wearing these rags like a homeless person.” I roar, frightening her.

She glares at me from her knees on the floor, and the position kinda stirs my cock in my pants.

“ They're not rags!”, she yells.

I have no more energy to fight her.

“ I'll order you new clothes,” I told her.” Luca will show you to your room.” I turn to make my way to the office.

“ What about Fabio's room?”, she asks, making me turn around and glare at her. “ Fabio is staying here with me as my bodyguard,” another piece of information she spits.

“ The fuck he is… this was not a part of the deal.” I hissed.

“ I'm making it part of the deal,” she says, jitting her chin up.

“ Fuck, I won't be accepting any deal from a Marino,” a dark chuckle escapes from my lips. “ You're staying, he's going.”

“ No,”

“No!?,” I tested her.

“If he goes, so do I,” she says stubbornly. “ Do you have a bodyguard for me?”, another question.

Fuck, why this thought never passed my mind. “ Not yet,” I spit.

“Then it's settled,” she says. “ Fabio is staying.”

I release the frowns from my forehead and chuckle as I make my way to her petite figure. At church, she was a few inches taller due to the heels, but I tower her frame now.

“ Fine, he'll stay until some proper protection is hired,” I spit through gritted teeth.

Her pouty lips are now replaced with a toothy smile. And I hate to admit that I love that smile on those Bee-stung lips, and my mind wants me to kiss those plumpy lips, but I turn back before I do something stupid, “ Luca will show you both your rooms.”
