SEBASTIEN
The sound of my footsteps as I walked across the thick mosaic tile echoed in my ears. I was in no hurry, my Capos securing the asshole without issue. The sweet fragrance of basil and oregano filtered into my nostrils while the stench of stale cigarettes assaulted my senses, the Italian restaurant considered a favorite for several of my soldiers. What few customers remained scuttled away like rats, my reputation preceding me.
The owner barely acknowledged my presence, merely going about his closing duties, but I could tell the man was nervous by the sweat stains pooling under his arms. Everyone feared my arrival. And they should.
After all, I was a man without patience. I also had no conscience.
Even before taking over the majority of operations from my father, I'd been considered dangerous on several levels. Oddly enough, I prided myself on fairness and decency. Tonight, there would be only retribution.
I pushed my palm against the kitchen door, disgusted by the amount of grease slickening my fingers. Once inside, I was able to hear the terrified whine of a man who should have known better than to embrace me as his enemy.
Cordero gave me a nod from his position, leaning against the scuffed stainless steel sink, his revolver merely nestled in his hand.
"Did he give you any trouble?" I asked in passing, as if I gave a shit.
"Nah. Good as gold," Cordero said, chuckling in his usual dark manner. I noticed his bloodied and bruised knuckles, my anger further fueled.
The traitor remained on the floor, a rag stuffed in his mouth, his hands and feet bound with wire. Danton had once been a man I thought I could trust, allowing him to handle a good portion of the Miami Beach operation. I didn't like being made a fool of.
My other Capo had made the call, Enrique having followed the fucker for two days. He grimaced, no doubt chastising himself for the level of trust placed in the man. Even his honor had been called into question.
This was a situation that had to be dealt with, my reputation on the line. Plus, I couldn't stand liars.
I stood in front of Danton, taking several deep breaths. I'd been pulled from a dinner engagement, although I'd been the one insisting on handling the situation personally. "Danton. I must admit, I'm surprised at your level of betrayal."
Danton whimpered, struggling to talk, his body twisting back and forth. Sweat beaded down both sides of his face, tears already rolling past his lashes. I also couldn't stand a coward.
"The way I heard it, you've been working a deal on the side, using my money to finance your operation." I hunkered down, allowing the man a much better look at my eyes. "As you might have already realized, that simply isn't acceptable. Not in my city." Rumors had been flying for weeks about a foreigner attempting to move in on my family's turf, something I'd avoided for far too long.
He moaned, his face twisting as it turned bright scarlet. I concentrated on the trickles of blood oozing from a gash on his right cheek, taking another deep breath. This was the last thing I needed on my agenda.
I moved back to a standing position, easing my Glock from my shoulder holster. "I really do hate to lose good help and you did some excellent work for my family, but every act of disobedience has consequences. Unfortunately, some are more severe than others." As I pulled the silencer from the inside of my jacket, I gave Danton another glance. His death would send a warning.
Cordero walked toward the swinging door, peering out the window. We certainly didn't need any hysterical customers drawing attention.
"However," I said in an even tone as I attached the silencer, pointing the barrel toward his forehead. "You give me no choice."
My gun roared twice.
I stood over him while I unscrewed the metal piece, sliding it back into my pocket and placing the gun in its usual position before adjusting my cuffs.
"I'll clean it up, boss," Enrique said.
"Put his body on the docks in plain sight." I turned and walked toward the door, cursing under my breath. Anyone who attempted to cross my path would face my wrath. I hissed, realizing that my next two days were going to be disrupted.
However, a trip was necessary.
SEBASTIENHavana, CubaRevenge.I'd been called soulless, among other things, my penchant for the taste of blood almost as powerful as my hunger for passion. However, the only thing on my mind at this moment was snuffing out an inconsequential fool. I took a deep breath, attempting to restore my calm resolve.I'd killed a man. While the act wasn't something I engaged in often, the fact I had blood on my hands, a stain that would never go away, wasn't far from my mind. And the man I'd spent the last three hours with was the reason.Music, the soul and breath of life. While I enjoyed music in the background, I'd never been one to follow an artist or give a shit. The duo of piano and cello was exquisite, the notes bold and haunting, intoxication for my ears. I took a deep breath, staring out at the rolling ocean waters, content at least for the moment. Even the scents of native flowers, white ginger and jasmine, were a powerful aphrodisiac. If I were here for anything but business.I was
SEBASTIENInhaling, his nostrils flared from the rage creeping into his system. I enjoyed keeping a man on edge. "I'm listening.""Excellent. The deal is that I will allow you to provide party favors within the city limits of Miami, but under my direction and with a forty percent finder's fee.""That's outrageous!"I didn't even blink, merely keeping my stare dark and cold. "Then I guess our business is concluded here and I assure you that I have various maritime officials on my payroll. They will be notified to look carefully for any boat coming from two hundred miles in the proximity of Cuba. Oh, and the deal for the cigars? Unfortunately, that will be eliminated as well. I can also assure you that if you attempt to undermine my family or my operations, I will destroy you. I think you are well aware of my capabilities.""How. Dare. You."I took another sip of cognac, another puff then closed the distance, taking my time placing the glass on the table, stubbing out the cigar. Then I
SEBASTIENI held my breath as well as the nasty words ready to spew from my mouth. For all my bravado, the man had taken back the upper hand. To refuse would be considered a slap of the man's honor. He was offering his most precious gift, one I would be required to accept. I knew right then that one day, I would indeed gut the heartless pig, enjoying every moment of watching him writhe in pain."No, Papa. No hare esto!" she hissed."English, daughter. Our guest prefers English and you will honor him in every manner that he requires. Is that understood?""Fine. I will not do this," she repeated. "He is a repugnant man, disgusting in every manner."Santiago confronted her, lifting the hand holding the cigar in a manner to suggest backhanding her.Bristling, I unbuttoned my jacket, walking closer and making certain the asshole noticed the Beretta positioned in my waistband. "There is no need for violence, Santiago. I'm certain that Carmen will enjoy my company for one evening only."She
SEBASTIENCarmen. Her lovely name rolled off my tongue, her hourglass figure spawning desires involving dark and heinous acts. She obviously had no understanding of who she'd been sold off to for a night, her haughty attitude and rebellious demeanor intriguing. After a few heated words spouted off by Santiago, the girl had obviously acquiesced, now waiting patiently just outside the front door. She'd changed attire, the flaming crimson dress much more to my liking yet still accentuating the beauty God had given her. Her long hair was fastened in a loose ponytail, the luxurious strands glistening in the glowing candlelight. As she stood with one hand on her cocked hip, she glanced everywhere across the expansive landscape but in my direction.I was forced to admit that breaking her would be far too exciting.Neither my cock nor my desires would be denied.I eased out of the rented Ferrari, taking my time as I sauntered in her direction. As I moved up the stairs, she yawned, waiting a s
CARMENThere were several other ugly words running through my mind regarding the brazen Amer-i-can besides asshole, but it would do for now. This commanding man named Sebastian thought he could come to my country under my father’s roof and demand that he be allowed a taste. Of me. I was over being shocked, the only emotion remaining utter rage.I could scratch out Sebastian’s eyes with my little pinky.Unfortunately, he was also without a doubt one of the most attractive men I’d ever seen: luxurious dark hair cresting just below his shirt collar, skin the color of rich almond milk, and a body handpicked by some glorious creature from the heavens. The mere thought of him alone created a damp spot on my lace panties, the tone of his deep baritone voice forcing my nipples into hard peaks.“Where are we going?” I demanded as he took my hand, leading me to the expensive sports car. If the man was trying to impress me, he’d failed in every attempt.Well, almost. The feel of his chiseled mus
CarmenI couldn't imagine my father wouldn't be pissed. Then again, he was the one who told Sebastian to discipline me. I shuddered at the thought, holding my breath while another whooshing sound incurred. This time, the pain coursed through my bottom all the way down the backs of my legs within seconds. I jerked up, tossing my head as I did everything to bite back a scream. The last thing I wanted to do was to show just how much discomfort I was in.Not to an asshole. Not to the man who thought he owned me.Not to the sexy and dominating Puerto Rican who sizzled every cell.I was furious with myself for thinking that way, even imagining him as anything but a horrible jerk, a person molded after my domineering father. When he issued four more, one coming after the other, I couldn't hold back my wails.Or the curse words that left my mouth easily."You prick. You bastard. You asshole. You motherfucker.""I think I need to wash out your mouth," he said in this overtly quiet manner, as i
CarmenThe bright lights of Havana came into view, the sizzling night just beginning to come alive. When he came to a stop in the middle of the road, I was surprised. Even more so as he gave me a lust-filled gaze. "Where are we going, princess?"Another wave of anger rushed into my system, stilting the words as I issued an address. He merely nodded, giving me another intense sweep of his eyes before stepping on the accelerator. Within a few minutes, he'd pulled the car directly in front of the club, leaving it running as he jumped out. I noticed his swagger, as if he was some kind of an important man and huffed. How was I supposed to get through this night? There was no way my father knew what kind of man he was. While the valet opened the door, Sebastian pushed the man aside until he had his fingers wrapped around mine. There was no question about whether we'd be allowed entrance. Sebastian simply waved his hand at the bouncers as if he owned the joint, walking past the line of those
Carmen"Te deseo. Te anhelo," he whispered into my ear, his lips brushing back and forth across my cheek.I want you. I crave you.His words were said in such a way my breath caught, dazzling sensations erupting all over my body. My panties were soaked and there was no doubt he gathered a scent of me.He led me to the table, his actions just as commanding as before. The second drink positioned in front of the other chair pissed me off."I took the liberty of ordering for you. I believe your drink of choice is Bombay and tonic."How in the hell did he know what I liked to drink? I was floored, my pulse racing. "I told you I only drink champagne.""Interesting but I believe you're lying. I don't like it when people lie to me," he said in a commanding fashion.I dared glance into his eyes, able to see the darkness concealed just beneath the surface. He was a complicated man, one who was hiding behind his bravado. I'd seen his soldiers. I knew they were hovering in the background, just wa
Sasha"You're so disobedient," he breathed as he peppered his hand from one side to the other, the hard slaps pushing me hard against the thick railing. The stinging sensations were intensified from my earlier spanking, the pain rushing down the backs of my legs. I'd accepted my role, my place by his side. He would always be in charge, the head of household, and in truth, the arrangement was perfect. As the spanking continued, my heart racing, I wiggled and moaned, my nipples hardening to the point they ached. I wanted him to twist and pinch, lick and suck."Are you wet for me, my sweet Sasha?""Yes, sir.""I can see how swollen those pretty pink pussy lips are for me."He smacked harder and faster, keeping a perfect rhythm."Yes. Sir." The scent of my cream wafted all around me, my hunger building.A slight chuckle slipped from his lips as his hand came down hard and fast. I imagined the warm blush, turning quickly into a deep scarlet as the spanking proceeded.I closed my eyes as he
SashaLove. L.O.V.E. The concept was honestly ridiculous. And beautiful. And breathtaking. And exhilarating. And maddening. But I was in love with a man I should run far away from. I knew that the odds were against us, danger lurking at every turn, but honestly? I didn't care any longer. In the three weeks since everything had occurred, my life had changed. At least the fifteen minutes of fame for the defamed daughter of a promising presidential candidate was just about over, the newscasters moving onto other scathing stories. And here I sat in a convertible sports car on St. Thomas Island, my hair flowing in the breeze, the day more gorgeous than any I'd seen in months. And I sat beside August."Where are we going? Some beautiful resort?"He grinned, shifting his gaze in my direction. "You're going to have to learn patience, my dear. We'll work on that on this trip. As a matter of fact, we'll take care of that right away."I wiggled in my seat, knowing exactly what that meant. More d
AugustFive Days LaterThe bright sun cast a shimmer down the length of her body as she stood at the window, her lovely copper hair smooth as silk. She seemed pensive, her eyes never blinking as she stared out at the parking lot. I stood in the doorway, watching her.Bathing in her beauty.I heard Bruno behind me, the larger than life man refusing to stay in the hospital for more than two days. He'd been my constant companion, rarely leaving my side. The days had been nothing but a blur of activity, including shoring the ranks within the family, but thankfully, today I was taking her home."I'll be waiting downstairs, boss." Bruno kept his voice hushed, his eyes twinkling from the sight of her.I nodded, waiting until he walked away before taking cautious steps inside. She and I had talked for hours after she'd garnered her strength. Although I hadn't confided about the information in the box, only telling her that her mother was safe and in good hands, she needed to know. After she'd
AugustThe drive was without incident, although I had no doubt that Drummand had summoned various police officers and that they were preparing for a raid. The ammunition I had should be enough to cease the brazen activity. I laughed at the concept. If what I suspected was about to happen did occur, there would be ripples from here to Chicago, a shift in the operation of both the Feds and the two local police departments. There were numerous cars located in my father's driveway, several of which I didn't recognize. I didn't bother to wait for the housekeeper, letting myself inside and immediately heading to my father's office. The door was closed, and I could hear loud voices, angry tones. Within seconds, I was able to recognize the second voice.Carmine Francesco. My father had called him. To have a meeting here and now meant a culmination of betrayals on several levels. I threw open the door, the box under my arm."You have to stop this madness, Gio," Carmine exclaimed. "You have no
AugustAt ten minutes past high noon, I found the fucker, a man I thought I could trust coming out of the district attorney's office by the back door. My hunch had played out. I sat in the shadows, watching as Jo-Jo hunkered down, yanking the collar of his coat up over his neck. He walked toward his truck, the massive F-350 one he insisted on driving. The front-end damage was actually minimal in comparison to the destruction on the SUV. He obviously didn't give a shit that anyone would ask questions. I'd driven by the impound lot, able to see the twisted wreckage that had once been a fully protected vehicle. And my anger continued to increase.I twisted one hand around the steering wheel, the other around my phone, calling Angelo. "I've found him.""Where?""At a location where he shouldn't have been. Meet me at the warehouse with a full crew in one hour. We'll take care of this.""That shithead. What the hell?""Absolution." Jo-Jo had no family, nothing to keep him loyal for any leng
AugustI resisted slamming the cup on the nightstand and jerked to a full standing position just as two nurses bolted into the room."You shouldn't be here!" one of the nurses barked."Don't worry. I'm leaving." I took one last look at him, the gentle giant who'd protected me for so many years. The man would receive his dues soon enough.I moved down the hallway, finding the nurse's station. "Sasha Morales."The nurse glared at me in obvious recognition, taking a full minute before she reacted. The same wretched fear crossed her face as she typed on the keyboard. Everyone was terrified of my wrath. "She's just out of surgery and in recovery.""Her prognosis?"The nurse gave me a comforting smile. "She should be fine. The doctors were able to stop the bleeding, but she had her spleen removed. She did well in surgery.""Where the hell is recovery?" Relief flooded me, but the adrenaline remained high."Are you family?""Her fiancé."The news seemed shocking, her face sagging. "You can se
August"You shouldn't be here, August," Angelo said under his breath as he walked with me down the hospital corridor."Like hell I shouldn't." I stormed down the hall, pushing past anyone who attempted to get in my way."You know it's only a matter of time before they're going to try and arrest you again."I laughed, touching my gun for effect. "As if I give a shit." I noticed a nurse and nearly accosted her as I grabbed her arm. "Sasha Morales. What is going on? Where is she?"The woman sputtered then shook her head. "In surgery from internal injuries, but she's alive. That's all I know.""Where?" I barked."You can't see her, sir. You're going to have to wait." She managed to jerk out of my hold, racing down the hallway."Calm down, August. Bruno is in his room. Talk to him."I ran my fingers through my hair, calming my breathing. "What do we have on the accident?""Nothing right now. The SUV was broadsided somewhere just after nine. There are no cameras at the intersection and nobo
AugustThis had nothing to do with any interrogation. I nodded, scanning the parking lot and surrounding area before climbing inside. By the time he started the engine, his hand was shaking. He roared out of the parking lot, checking the rearview mirror three times before speaking. "I want you to know that I'm putting my job, hell, my career on the line for you and your family." Dick laughed bitterly. "Stupid. I have no idea why I'm doing this.""That begs the question. Why the fuck are you doing this?""Your arrest was a setup.""Tell me something I don't know."He looked as uncomfortable as hell, now sweating profusely. "You have no idea the kinds of connections that Senator Morales has as well as the chief of police and the district attorney. They are hell bent on destroying your operation. And I think there's more upper echelon politicians, law enforcement, and God knows who else in on this. This is fucking huge and terrifying."Wait a minute. What in the hell was he suggesting? "
SashaThe parking lot in front of the UPS store was almost desolate. While the location had a neon sign indicating it was still open, there was no one standing behind the counter. Number 518 was found easily, the group of boxes nestled all the way in the back of the store. When the clerk finally realized there were customers, Bruno had already cut the lock. I chatted with her briefly, finding out the box had been rented for five years, all paid in advance. My hands were shaking as I attempted to open the door, uncertain of what I would find. The shoebox fit almost exactly with no room to spare, the lid taped as if that would matter to prying eyes. I didn't waste time searching the contents. Maybe I really didn't want to know after all.I was so very cold as I secured the seatbelt, my arms and legs shaking. Just holding the thin cardboard in my hands made me feel closer to my mother, but also bitter and angry. Canada. I would hold August and his father to the promise of bringing her ho
