23. PROGRAMMED SOLDIER

HENRY'S POV

My wolf is agitated. Its been a day since we began the journey back to Red fire and we are moving at the pace of snails. Like Moses and the freaking Isrealites in the wilderness, literally.

With more news of the Black Lotus gaining on other packs, I'm even more restless. Ryder and Cedric continue to argue in front of me and I barely hear a word they say. The image of the gold wolf imprinted vividly in my mind for it to be not real.

And now, more than ever, I need to find my mate. Again. I lost count of the many times I replayed the scene, that night in my mind. I didn't want to tell Cedric not wanting to alarm him with the news that my mate rejected me, or possibility that my mate could be alive and a member of Black Lotus. If she wasn't, then there was an equally large possibility she was in camp with this very second. Or she died after leaving that night.
