The aston martin vehicle had now been driven for a couple of minutes with Nena behind the steer wheel. Lucile sat quietly beside her in the passenger seat holding tightly to herself as the vehicle drove at over a hundred kilometres an hour, clearly exceeding the speed limit.
She wondered what had gotten over Nena to get her driving like that. She stared at her cousin in astonishment as to how and where the young lady had learned to drive like that .
“aunty Nena” she cried out “please slow down a little” she pleaded, obviously concerned about both their safety.
Nena on the other hand , didn’t seem to have interest in paying any attention to little miss Lucile’s concerns. she apparently happened to be on that speed consciously and purposefully.
She slowly increased the acceleration of the vehicle with her feet completely thrusting down the gas pedal flat.
Lucile lay back tightly to her seat , firm
Back in the city of Lagos, maestro hadn’t stopped to keep pushing forward with his business in the distribution of product . he had even dared to expand his territorial district , extending into the south ; Nadia’s territory. He had this sense of achievement now flowing through him Like a pipe of drainage . He felt like he had finally won in the feud between him and Madinni as she had not yet shown any signs of retribution , although he kept his guard up for he knew he could not be so sure about it , and she could as well take him by surprise with a swing of unexpected action without him even seeing it coming. He swung from right to left on his rotational desk seat , tilting himself in perfect balance as he relaxed his back on it . he exhaled a puff of smoke from his Cuban cigar through the cavity perforated in the mouth region of his mask.He seemed to be enjoying his own company in solitude and the serenity that came with it.Unf
Downtown south, the weather had really not been bright all day. It made sense , considering that all hell was about to break down on the city soon when maestro finally swings to action.Nadia madinni was sitting comfortably in her couch at home with her guards standing alert behind her.She was silently taking gradual sips off the glass of cocktail she had in her hands. She even dared to shed a smile albeit it’s bitter taste. Probably that was how confident she was about the whole situation. Or not..Some of her guards were now racing down from the stairs with several luggages on their hands. They had little Victoria Madinni by their side who walked slowly with her hands cloaked underneath the black hoodie she was wearing alongside a pale face. Both her and the guards now arrived before Nadia in the sitting room who was now taking her last si
It took over an hour drive for Nena and Lucile to arrive at the Johnson’s home. Lucile’s parents were already there awaiting their arrival for a minute now. They reached the compound and Nena parked her vehicle at their garage. Lucile was the first person that elated the vehicle and Nena followed suite a minute later. Both their faces were pale, obviously from the confession that Lucile had just shared earlier while In the car. Nena was filled with rage. The realisation that she had just convicted the wrong person of a heinous crime and sent him away for a very long time didn’t sit right with her at all. It didn’t feel like a win to her anymore. It didn’t feel like justice. She had convicted many of several crimes before but had never bothered to ask for the true story. Her work ethics didn’t permit her to inquire for the truth but rather for only evidences that will help her win the case and convict the felon of the indicted
Back in the streets of Lagos, the night had been racing against the fleet of vehicles that had fled Nadia’s compound and stormed out into the road.Nadia’s SUV was far ahead drifting across corners to bypass the Lagos traffic and escape the threat on her life. The gunmen’s cars followed suit behind, in hot pursuit.Nadia’s car had been accelerating it’s velocity steadily and she now feared for her life. She held her precious little daughter, Victoria tightly and kept looking backwards through the window to know if the gunmen were anywhere In sight and about to catch up with them.“who the hell are those guys anyway” she asked dreadfully, now looking forward at mike and sonny who were both seated in front.“who do you think” Big Mike replied “maestro’s gang of course”“I knew they were. I just wanted to be sure so i’ll decide what my next course of actio
Down at the district police station where Nadia Madinni had been apprehended and was now being held, the police were judicious about their normal activities and had not yet been able to begin her questioning yet. They just detained her in the interrogation room in the hopes that she would get anxious till her brain blows out but to their disappointment, she didn’t.As a matter of fact, the reverse was the case here. the police detective who had captured her stepped into the room and found her staring sternly at the wall in front of her while placing her cuffed hands on the table. The detective stared at her curiously, Nadia was silent as he expected but she looked rather too composed for a felon. Anyways, that was not his business, his only job here was to carry out a very judicious interrogation in finding out what really went down back there in the streets. The detective was a tall man with dark skin and bald head. he was lanky and had a funn
Nena was still confused as to why everyone at the dining table was just eating and no one was talking yet. She looked at Mr and Mrs Johnson and neither of them seemed to be ready to talk or give an explanation as they promised. She wasn’t at this table to share a meal with them. As a matter of fact, she had now detested them and wanted nothing to do with them, at least for a little while so they can truly understand how annoyed she really felt about their prejudicial conviction of the young lad B.J.“ I really didn’t come to this dining set to share a meal with you guys” Nena began “ someone better start talking. Give me your own side of the story else I’ve have no other option than to be left with the impression that you all are very terrible people”“you mean to say you don’t have that impression already?” Mr Johnson asked, dropping down his fork on his plate and finally raising up his head&nbs
Nena boarded on the flight the next morning headed to Lagos. She was in a hurry after she had learned the full details of the new development on the maestro case through a phone call she made the previous night with Jasper. She knew there was much work to do and she had to be present in the interrogation of their newly apprehended suspect Nadia Madinni. Nadia had come up several times in their investigation for the kingpin case but like maestro, they had very little to convict her with.Nena sat silently on the plane, wondering what the turn out of their interrogation with the suspect would look like. After close to eight months working on the case, something finally turns up. She wondered if indeed this should be regarded as good news.Soon after her plane landed, she departed and headed straight down to the district police station where Nadia was being detained for questioning. She walked into the building, storming in with much haste and headed s
Walking towards the desk where Madinni sat quietly in the interrogation room, Nena droppedthe briefcase she had in her hands and started off by saying pleasantries "Nadia Madinni, it's an honour to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you"Nadia stared at her with a pale look of disgust and gave a quick reply "It's a shame I can't say thesame for you miss .... whoever the hell you are"."I am Barrister Nena Daniels from the district attorneys office. ""And what does a barrister want with me now. I'm sorry rain ln your parade but I do have a lawyer of my own and like I told your people, I won't be saying a word more until I am allowed to meet with him".Nena chuckled "oh you think I'm here to represent you. I'm flattered by the assumption but on the contrary. I am a criminal proscutor working with the NDLEA on a task force set aside a few months ago by the federal government. I am actually here to ask you a few questions"
It was a hot afternoon on board the virgin Atlantic airplane fight 227. Lucile Johnson was seated in the first class section of the flight staring at the clouds through the window. She wondered how far long it would take before she got to Lagos. Nena had invited her over for the face identification Daniel cross. It was such a big news to her when she received the call from Nena Daniels, her aunt, confirming that the person who she was engaged to was indeed a criminal as she had earlier warned. Although it was sad that her aunt had to go through the trauma of processing the news of a cancelled engagement, she was indeed very delighted to see that the truth had finally come to light and Daniel was in her custody.Daniel, Someone who they had spent the last five years trying to find with all the resources her father could afford at the time. she indeed pondered on how Dani had managed to stay hidden under the radar all this while. Now, she had to see him for herself and believe it for r
The company outside of maestro’s building were getting noisier and noisier by the minute but was soon put to silence the minute the director put up his megaphone to his mouth and spoke. The large sound from the speaker overwhelmed the atmosphere of the whole compound as he began saying “maestro, we know you are in there. You are heavily surrounded. You can step out now with your hands behind your head and we can make this whole process easy for the both of us”.Apparently, Nena had called Director Gambo when she stumbled on the ugly truth that her lover and fiancée was the infamous maestro they had been looking for. Although, she left that part about her relationship with him out when she was giving him the details of her discovery. Everything but that little bit of information. She originally just asked the director for backup to the house address and didn’t agree to say what for until the director forcefully insisted and she realized she had no choice but to give him something. “m
Maestro retired to his apartment for the day, grateful for how the day had gone. The good news of Madinni’s execution had brought much delight to his heart. Now half of his problems were solved. All he had to do now was usurp the control of the distribution of product in her territory and still maintain order with the elders. He drove in his vehicle into the compound, pulled off his mask and stepped out of the vehicle with zeke by his side as they stepped into the apartment. The gatekeeper informed him that his fiancée was in the building and he immediately became nervous. He knew she had a spare key to the apartment but she wasn’t always fond of trooping in this regularly.Even if he was purportedly engaged to the woman, he wasn’t exactly comfortable with that especially now that he was about celebrating Madinni’s demise. He hurried up, thanking his stars that he was lucky enough to have removed his mask in his car.He was mostly fond of keeping it on these days, mostly because his
On the Lagos - Badagry highway, Nena’s Aston martin sedan vehicle was cruising on 150mph as she sped back home to Dani’s apartment for no reason in particular, except from the sole fact of clearing things up and making sense of everything she had just learnt about her fiancée.‘no it can’t be’ she thought to herself. ‘all these can’t possibly be true’ she thought further ‘dani may have done some wrong and rough things in the past but not this. No this is too much. I need to get home and try to make some sense of all these’.She finally approached the apartment and parked her vehicle just outside. She rushed into the building and up the stairs. Into the room. There was no one home at the moment so she decided to use the opportunity of the privacy to do something she hadn’t had the time to do before; For the first time in the duration of her relationship with Dani, she decided to snoop among his things. She ransacked the room starting from his wardrobe. She brought out all the boxes s
‘WE NEED TO TALK’ . Nena kept looking sternly at the message from Lucile on her phone. ‘ I had already sent her a photo of Dani, what could she possibly want this time’ she thought. She looked to director Gambo who obviously had no interest in what she had going on especially now that he had dismissed her and terminated her appointment on the task force. Moreover, he had more important things to worry about at the moment. The news about the interception of his team was devastating enough. At this point he was confused; this was a major setback for the maestro investigation. He walked with Jasper back into the interrogation room to further discuss their next plan of action after the unfortunate development. Nena tried to ignore the text from Lucile but then again, Lucile gave her a call instead. “goddamn it” Lucile exclaimed as she picked the call “Lucile dear, this is so not the right time for this. You should really call back later”.“oh no aunt, you should really listen to me th
The four horsemen had been a lifelong contract assassins that had worked for the BMA discreetly for years. They specialized in killings of high tier Targets . Maestro only contacted them on special occasions for special missions and this situation with Nadia Madinni definitely fell under that category. He couldn't think of a better time to call them than a time like this. Zeke who he had ordered to place the call had done exactly just that and sealed the deal with them.A man named Ivanovic had been the one to receive the call and transacted with him. Ideally, they were to pay their dues through the continental coin; a secret currency devised by the elders to aid the discretion of transactions for criminals in their community but due to his recent problems with the elders, maestro had ordered zeke to offer them payment in cryptocurrency. This new development was strange to the hearing of Ivanovic who initially protested at the proposal. He was afraid of getting into any trouble with
Up in his office, maestro stood quietly by the side of window with a glass of rum in his hands, slowly turning the 1965 scotch whisky around the meniscus of the glass as he watched his staff work ardently in his drug production facility. They had been working harder these days to keep up with the high demand in the streets. A demand that aroused due to Nadia's to sudden disappearance. Ever she was apprehended a void was created in the market and maestro took the opportunity to fill in that void.there were no longer restrictions from the Elder's who normally would've rendered their objections by now. Apparently they had bigger things to worry about at times like this.Yes, times like this meant business was good for maestro but on the contrary, he did not feel good at a time like this. He was more worried about the danger that lay ahead now that he knew Nadia was about to slip up and expose his full working operation to the cops and to the whole world. He looked at all he had accomplis
Back at the police station. Director Gambo had been furious all morning. He had been trying to get a hold of Nena on the phone but she had not been available. He was even more furious now that he saw her walking into the building. ‘this lateness is unacceptable’ he thought to himself as he walked angrily to meet up with her. “where have you been” he yelled “I have been trying to reach you all morning. What is wrong with you, young lady”“I’m so sorry director. I am actually inexcusable today. I promise it won’t happen again” “like hell it won’t” the director revolted “This is unacceptable. I have had just about enough of your indiscipline. I am taking you off the case”“what?!” Nena exclaimed, obviously surprised at the director’s rash decision. She understood he was angry but taking her off the case made no sense actually.. she had contributed immensely to the progress of this case up till this point, or at least, so she thought. Nevertheless, it made no sense taking her off the
Lucile Johnson was in her bedroom when the message came into her phone. She reached for the phone on her bed and opened it up. It was the photo she requested from her aunt Nena. The photo of her supposed fiancé. She opened up the JPEG file excitedly but the image that appeared after the file had downloaded left her in utter shock. The face on the image was surprisingly familiar. This was a face she knew all too well and the shock she felt now was overwhelming. She quickly dropped the phone and buried her awestruck lips behind her palms. “oh my god’ she thought aloud “could this really be? After all these years? He has shown up again?” the questions kept on flashing through her mind as she remained astonished at the turn of events. This was a blast from the past, one which had come rather unexpectedly. “I need to inform aunt Nena” she thought, as she picked up her phone to dial her Nena’s number again. There was a beep at the ring, indicating that the line was busy. Lucile reached
