"Alesi? Alesi!" My Mother calls for me as I run through the woods, flinching each time my bare foot hits the cold ground. "Alesi!" She is getting closer, following the scent of my blood - following the sound of my heart. I can feel her hot breath upon my skin. "Alesi. Naughty girl. You know better than to run from Mother." Her teeth upon my skin, pain rushing over my battered body. I try to scream, but my voice is lost to the silence of the woods. The darkness overtakes me.
"Alesi?" I wake up, panting again as I try to focus and listen to the small voice beside me. "Alesi we need to wake for chores. You want to be able to eat breakfast today, right?"
It was all just a dream. I groan, peeking over at Brenna with a frown. "I am up, Bre." She pouts, the young omega looming for a few more moments before moving to the door to leave. "You best hurry, Alesi."
As Brenna leaves I can hear the sound of the others within the Omega dorms scurrying about. The night shift returns, and the day shift gets ready to greet the sun. 'You best get moving, Alesi. Now is not the time to dawdle.' Vesper teases, my wolf being in high spirits this morning. ‘It was the nightmare again, Vesper...' I try to reason with her, curious if she would speak of it. 'I know, Alesi. But nightmares are merely dreams. We must live in reality. Our mother is dead. We were told this years ago.'
I rather not argue with Vesper this early, pulling myself out of bed to put on my uniform. My raven hair in the morning makes me feel like I belong in a horror film, straight hair covering my face tangled in the back. "It's our Birthday soon..." A day that should be of joy, but all I can remember is the night of my thirteenth learning of my Mother's death. 'That was five years ago, Alesi.'
All I have left of my Mother is her lucky charm; a rose pendant necklace. She wore it every day - even that day. Now I wear it everyday.
I gather my things and head down to the front of the dorms to meet up with Bre. She isn't waiting patiently, tapping her foot and giving me a look as I walk up to her. "You need to stop staying up so late. I know you are studying, but we have work that needs to be done. We aren't teenagers anymore that can get away with being late." Such a grumpy little lady, but she is my best friend. "I know, Bre. I am sorry. I just lost track of time...again. Let's get going to the pack house - perhaps you can get sight of the warriors running shirtless?"
Bre almost purrs at the thought, quickly catching herself and huffing before turning to start walking. "I could care less about those buff idiots." I giggle, knowing all too well why she is acting this way. "Come on Bre. I know a certain warrior that might be a dumb idiot, but is really sweet." If steam could come out of Bre's ears, they would. She stiffens, turning to look back at me with these hot bright cheeks. "ALESI!"
My teasing continues a bit as we enter the forest path leading to the packhouse, the crisp autumn morning revealing my breath as I speak. "So are you going to the bonfire tonight?" Bre shrugs, letting out a sigh. "Those things are not much fun anymore. Everyone is just..acting like dumb kids. I don't know about you, but I rather not have to watch the girls fawning all over those brats."
"So what do you want to do? We have the day off tomorrow..." If not the bonfire, it would be nice to do something. "How about we go for a run?" Bre offers, making Vesper excited. "Well you got Vesper's vote." "A run it is then."
We arrive at the packhouse, a few omegas wandering about gardening up front. Everyone had their jobs, and we had ours. Bre and I are maids, cleaning the messes of the upper ranks and their families.
Entering the Packhouse, we head towards the kitchens to help with breakfast before our cleaning duties - needing to wait for those slumbering to wake so we can tidy their rooms. The smells of the cooking meats cause my mouth to water, but work needs to be done before food is had.
After preparing and setting out the buffet, a bell is rung - signaling to those slumbering their food is ready. The Alpha and Luna are always the first to wake and enter the dining hall, sitting and waiting for their plates to be served and coffee brought. Bre was on up to serve them today, nervous as fuck that she might spill something. Like most omegas, we find the couple pretty terrifying - but we know they are who protects us.
I have spoken to Luna once, and that was when my Mother died. She was very loving, and comforted me in my tears. I was sent to live with Bre and her family after that, till we were old enough to enter the Omega Dorms.
The Daytime Head Omega approaches me, letting out a cough before speaking. "Omega Elesi, today your cleaning duties are the Gamma's rooms. Make sure to do a deep clean - drapes, clothes, sheets, towels all laundered. Everything dusted and wiped down. Vacuumed and mopped. The full shebang." The last bit was said oddly, trying to sound 'hip' as the old folks call it. "Yes, Omega Hilda." I give her a polite smile and go off to find my cart to take up to the Gamma's rooms. Traveling around the packhouse there are whispers of rumors or perhaps truth; The Alpha's and Beta's Sons have returned from training. I can't remember the last time I saw them. I know we are around the same age. I reach the Gamma's room and knock, waiting for a response. If Luna is down at breakfast, he is likely too. He is her shadow after all. With no answer I enter, moving about to gather the various articles of clothing littered about the floor. Yet something causes me to pause, picking up a bra. "The Gamma doesn'
"Elesi!" Bre calls out to me, moving beside me to loop my arms with hers. "How was your morning? I was cleaning the public rooms and oh boy, people are all up in gossip today." She has a big grin on her lips, clearly wanting to whisper these things to me. "I had Gamma's rooms. It was quiet." I smiled, lying but most of it was quiet. "What did you hear?" Vesper seems curious as well, enjoying the pack gossip."Weeeeelll." Bre whispers in a sing-song manner. "You heard the boys are back in town, right?" She snickers, clearly wanting to spill. "I have heard from a source that one of them returned with a MATE!" 'A mate?' Vesper asks curiously. "Didn't they go to an all boys training? Meant for Alphas and Betas..." I ask her, unsure how they'd find a mate in a place filled with males. "We HAVE to go to the bonfire now. They are going. I heard the Alpha and Beta's daughters giggling about it in the playroom." Bre looks obsessed, but I can't blame her. Now I want to go too. "Let's go the
I rush out of the packhouse and towards the forest path, walking briskly as to be free from this feeling. 'Slow down." Vesper aims to soothe me, worried that I am in such a state of panic. I almost trip over a root, stumbling to rest against a tree - calming my breaths. The woods are quiet. Everyone is either back at the pack house, in the village, or at the dorms and houses. The middle of the day the forest is usually quiet, most taking their runs in the early morning or in the evening. Letting their wolves out. Yet it seems I was not alone. I hear the sounds of growling in the distance, mixed with soft whines. Someone was in pain. I slink towards the sounds, not wishing to alert anything yet - it could be two males fighting.I stop in my tracks, letting out a gasp as I hide behind a tree and cover my mouth. How is it happening to me AGAIN?! 'Horney males.' Vesper chuckles as she lets out a little purr, clearly enjoying what we saw. A warrior male is leaning against a boulder stro
I finish my shower once my legs are not jello, washing off the arousal scent and heading back to my room to read a bit before tonight's bonfire. The pack supplies us with an education up to high school and any extended education we need for our given jobs. I want to apply for a scholarship to go to school for paranormal anthropology to better understand the roles all the races play in the world.I am lost deep in a book on vampires when Bre enters the room in a giddy. "We got to look our best tonight, Alesi." She is already opening our closet and tossing outfits onto her bed, trying to rate which one to wear. I know better than to interrupt her, watching her make her plans. "Anything else happened after I left for lunch?" I ask, suspicious now with her excitement. "The Gamma is going to be at the bonfire! I heard him tell Luna he'd keep an eye on her daughter tonight. What do you think he likes? Slutty red dress Bre? Quiet sexy girl blue Bre? Strict play hard black Bre?" My head is s
I feel a presence beside me not soon after, a gruff voice coughing to catch my attention before speaking. "Ah." He stumbles a bit in his words, seeming a bit unsure of what to say next. "The fire is nice." Vesper giggles, finding his behavior adorable. 'He is shy?' I look up at him, catching his blue gaze for only a moment before he looks back over at the fire. "It is. Do you come to the bonfires often? My friend Bre loves them." I try to make some sort of conversation, but I am probably worse at this than he is. I rarely talk to males. "Bre? Ah! I know her. My friend has a bit of a crush-" His eyes widen, realizing he is probably saying more than he should, giving himself a cough and just staring at the fire again. "She has a crush on him too." I whisper to him, allowing him not to be the only one spilling secrets. "I think they will be just fine without any meddling though." I give him a smile, looking him over now as he faces away from me. I remember his naked form clearly - hid
"I don't think-" Before I could say anything more, a scene interrupts the ENTIRE party as a trio enters. The two heirs : Rainer and Ander - and behind them a female that I have never seen before. She was beautiful, but something about her made me uncomfortable. "Rainer!" Screams Evette in a happy tone, running up to greet him. Circe and Soren were not far behind her. "You came!" Rainer gives her a smile. "Of course, Eve. We had to celebrate our return.""Who is that behind you, Rainer?" Evette says, her tone clearly unhappy. Rainer raises a brow at her hostility, but moves to bring the woman forward. "This is our friend, Juniper." "Friend? Not mate..." Evette says in a curious manner. "Yes friend, silly." "Sister please." Ander groans, not enjoying her jealousy. "Juniper is our friend. And she is now part of our pack. We rescued her. It's a...long story.""And not for here. Later." Rainer responds then looks to his sister. "Hello Circe, beautiful as ever." "Hello Brother, annoying
The next day the pack was quiet, but everything seemed to have gone back to normal. It was my day off, and Rhory said he'd come see me at some point - but when? I might as well go for a walk, stretch my legs. There is a path in the woods that leads to a waterfall. I'll go there. I toss on something comfortable and head out, leaving Bre snoring comfortably in her bed. I toy with my mother's rose pendant as I walk down and out the dorms, heading outside to be greeted by the crisp fall wind. I love this time of the year, comfy sweaters are my favorite. Heading towards the path, I quickly realize I am not alone - running into Juniper seemingly lost and by herself. "Oh, hello - I uh." Juniper fidgets, looking from me to the woods. "Lost?" I give her a polite smile. "Where are you trying to get to?" 'Be cautious with her. She smells strange.' Vesper growls, clearly agitated by the new female. "Yes-no? I mean...Circe told me Rainer was out here waiting for me." Juniper relaxes a bit, loo
I keep walking down the path towards the waterfall, mind wandering all over the place of the rumors of the 'cultists' and the insane rules they follow. A fated mate was one of them, a person made just for you chosen by the Goddess herself - someone that you just love. You are forced to be with this person. Doesn't matter if you are actually compatible. There are pulls to others, in a way - but not that extreme. A male that is suitable for breeding smells nice, but dating seals the deal.It said these 'matings' are made by the goddess, but I remember some omegas talking about how it was a witches spell that is used by a false Goddess to manipulate those in the packs to behave accordingly. Just magic - nothing celestial. I'd never want to just be stuck with a person I didn't know, or hated. That sounds gross.Arriving at the waterfall, it is quiet. There is a bench to sit and just listen, sometimes I come out here with a book to read. Vesper alerts, growling. 'Elesi I smell blood.' My
