Blood Red Eyes

The scent is gone. All is quiet - too quiet. I stand up and look around and realize I am outside the boundaries of the territory. Shit.

Vesper grumbles. 'We have to get back before something finds us.' She is on alert, heightening her senses for danger.

I turn around and start walking back towards the border and that is when I hear the crunching of leaves. Please be a deer. Please be a deer.

'Not a deer.' Vesper growls as she alerts me of something moving to my right.

I wing around and try to let out a growl to hopefully scare it off, but am quickly tackled by something.

"A werewolf?" A strange voice whispers to me, pinning me behind a tree. "Shhh. SHHHH" He sounds worried, afraid of something.

I open my eyes to see a smaller male with some strength hold my mouth closed as he pins me, unable to move much more than a wiggle under him. My eyes shift from his red ones towards the woods, listening. There are many more leaves crunching.

His hand is so cold, and his scent is odd. Those red eyes...and fangs.

It takes a few moments before he relaxes, releasing my mouth as he peers up at me. "You are far from home, wolf. No screaming. Be a good girl. I am going to help you."

Vesper growls, not trusting this male. 'Vampire.'

"I was being chased by a...zombie." I admit. "I am an Omega. I will not fight you unless forced to defend myself. I just want to go home."

"A Omega?" He tilts his head to the side. "What's that?" The Vampire takes a few steps back, releasing me from his grip. "I am Tirian, and as you have surmised; a vampire. Now you said you were being chased by a zombie?" He raises a brow, clearly not believing me.

"It was a dead person. A walking corpse..." I swallow, unsure of how to describe it. "It was my Mother..."

"It could have been a zombie or it could have been..." Tirian mumbles to himself, clearly lost in thought.

"What?" I looked at him, confused by all this and someone excited that there was a real true Vampire in front of me. The sounds of wolves howling in the distance bring me back to reality, panic setting in. "I need to get home."

"It sounds like they found something..." Tirian sighs and looks at me. "I can take you back to the border, but you must not speak a word to anyone you left." More secrets, great - but maybe I can get something out of this one.

"On one condition." I speak up bravely, hoping this works.

Tirian eyes me curiously, clearly taken aback by my forwardness now. "Yes?"

"You must meet with me again. I want to know about vampires." I say as confidently as I can.

He can't help but chuckle, looking at me as if I am insane. "Deal. I will come see you again, Omega."

"My name is Elesi." I reply, not wishing to just be known as my title, but my name.

"Elesi?" His eyes flicker, looking at me then past me. "Come on. Let's get you back before the wolves notice you left the barrier."

I followed him back, wanting to ask him all sorts of questions, but knowing keeping quiet was for the best.

He takes me to a part of the trees that I recognize, but he stops. "Go quickly."

I move towards the trees. "Thank you, Tirian." As I turn around to look at him again, he is gone. I didn't even hear him move.

Vesper is anxious, whining as I run towards the packhouse, knowing that I need to go someplace safe. 'Why was a vampire so close to the border?'

Vampires are told to pups to be bloodthirsty vicious beasts that will steal your fangs if you don't go to bed on time. The books from the library aren't so bad, but they are more mythos than truth. The forest was dark from the trees, but it was still daytime. Tirian had no problem moving around.
