Chapter Fifty-Two
Alex's POV
It's been a few weeks since we started school so it was pretty clear that Eva's threat was just her trying to scare us. Asher and I are good right now, I like the place that we were at right now, after the night in the cave, he hadn't asked me to be his girlfriend but it was pretty obvious that we were dating, maybe he didn't want to put any labels on it.
"Hey." Emma's voice pulled me from my thoughts.
I looked over to my left to see her sitting next to Asher, "Hi." he said with a smile, normally he'd fake a smile at her but it was pretty obvious right now that it was a real one, "How was your winter break?" he asked.
She giggled, "it was fun, went to Mexico with my family."
"Meet anyone nice?" he smirked.
She playfully slapped him on the arm and shot him a playful glare, "Nah," her eyes met mine, "still waiting for Alex to run back to Cole."

Asher's POV I heard his voice but Alex saw him first, I turned around to see the man. He was gruff and short, wearing a red flannel with a grey tank underneath that was pulled up over his big belly with brown stains on it and his jeans were unbuttoned, his fly was open. Asher's POV I woke up to the sound of rustling in the room, followed by the door closing. I looked down to Alex who was sleeping peacefully in my arms, it was a nice feeling to wake up like this, I looked the window to see that the sky had cleared a little. I kissed her forehead and pushed off the duvet from my body, revealing all the various marks on her body and I couldn't help but smile, "I'm sorry." Alex's POV A month had passed since the cabin thing, most of Asher's wounds had healed and everyone was back in high spirits since graduation was coming up. This was our last year of high school, of course we'd be happy. Asher and I were currently on a picnic date-- our first date since spring break. I had nightmares before-- not that they were the same as this but, I knew the signs; dark circles under the eyes from lack of sleep which are clear under hers right now, the persistent fear, I could see the fear in her eyes when she looked at me, so somehow it's centered around me. Alex’s POV A whole week had passed after that night, there was nothing from Asher, call, text, nothing. I texted him to apologize but he never got back to me, I called so much that his voicemail box filled up and he still hadn't gotten back to me. I hope he's okay. The teacher walked in briskly and pulled down the projector screen before moving over to her computer and typing aggressively, practically the whole class could hear it. "Ms. Brown, you're gonna break that if you don't calm down." Noah jested and the whole class laughed, even me. She looked at us and back at the computer, unbothered by his comment, we were about to graduate anyways, so the teachers could give a crap about teaching us anything. A few minutes into the period and Emma bursts into the classroom and pulls me out with her, "Excuse us." she said to the tecaher before we left. "Have you heard from Asher at all?" she asked.
