XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW
I was walking in the corridor going to our next class when I saw my best friend, Geli Ash Peterson. I met her on the first day of the class way back when I was still in my second year as a Psychology student, I was one batch ahead of her, but she was my age, she was a Physical Therapy student. We both shared the same department building, so we have been together when we have vacant time, especially during lunch.
"Xincere..." I waved at her as I heard her shouting from the other building. Maybe she was with her long-time boyfriend, Justice Martin. She was an outgoing girl who seemed never to run out of energy. Her straight and long black hair made her pale skin tone accentuated. She also had a tiny mole on her right cheek. She was a curvy girl, which contributes a lot to her cuteness. Approximately, five meters and two inches in height. I was four inches taller than her, which somehow made me reminded that I was three months older than her. We were actually too close as sisters, even if it was just about a year when we actually met each other.
"Could you walk a little faster?" Zac turned his back on me before he asked. He looked so irritated as usual. We still had two minutes before our next class begin. He walked so fast, that for every step I take, I should take two just to reach him. I just rolled my eyes against him and waved goodbye to Geli.
Zac and I were neighbors and block mates at the same time. We used to go to school together ever since I could remember. We have been classmates even when we were in first grade. I knew him so well, I mean, I could understand if what was up to him even in his simple sigh. I knew it already whenever he was mad or irritated, and of course, those simple and random things that made him smile, which were so rare. He was well-known for being an ace player on the basketball team of our university, Psalms Eastern University. He was approximately six feet and two inches and has a tiny mole near the edge of his left eyelash line that accentuated his pale skin tone, for some reason that made him look so neat.
Many girls were captivated by his charm. His looks were one of the factors why there were a lot of girls who attended the intramurals every year, one of the awaiting events everyone's looking forward to. I was the only girl he used to talk to on campus. I did not really know I may consider our relationship. I mean, I know for sure that he never consider me as his friend, since I felt how much he hates me, but it just made me curious if he liked my Mom's pasta that much that he managed to wait for almost an hour every morning for us to go to school together. We also used to go home together since we were attended the same school ever since grade school. But despite all that being said, one thing is for sure, he had never been nice to me. As in never! He used to make moves that would make other girls who admired him hate me a big time. And that annoyed me even more.
"I really thank God that the class of Mrs. Quantum in Field Method of Psychology had come to an end. Her class did not pass without me taking a nap for at least thirty minutes in her two hours class. I stretched my hands when one of our oldest professors for this semester had dismissed us. He was just whispering the whole two hours, maybe because she was also struggling in delivering her lessons clearly. But I honestly do not care since the guy beside me is too good to take time to listen to him. I mean, Zac was a bit hard on me, I mean a big time! But he was too generous when it came to quizzes, I could use him for my advantage somehow! Yeah, he was so smart. I was always next to him in the class rank, but I didn't mind. I already accepted that he was a gifted guy. While in my case, there's still a need to spend a lot of time studying in order to get good grades.
"As if you listened!" Zac muttered under his breath before he looked away. I just rolled my eyes in irritation.
"As if I could not hear you," I uttered and gave him a side glance of disgust before staring straight ahead.
"'ll go ahead. I'll just catch up with Geli." I said as I was shoving all my stuff in my soft brown backpack.
"I'll wait for you then." He said deadpan, not even looking at me. I just rolled my eyes as I saw him walking outside the classroom having his backpack hanging on his left shoulder. I ran toward him as he was walking in the corridor and accidentally bumped into someone. I saw Zac who immediately took some steps in my direction and aggressively took a grip on the collar of a guy who looked like a varsity player whom I bumped into. It was a good thing that I was wearing high waist jeans together with my dark brown crop top and white sneakers. I deeply closed my eyes and abruptly held his left hand to stop him. He was not moved even if we got the attention of some students in the corridor. I saw that guy smirked that made Zac mad even more. His face was distorted with rage.
"That's enough, Zac. Stop it please." He took a glance at me before he let go of that guy who bumped into me. I grabbed his sleeve and pulled him away from there. I did not even think about the students who were looking at us, probably because of what they saw his hard-headed guy beside me do.
"Is there anything hurt?" I heard a sudden change in his voice as he grabbed my arms as if checking if I get any bruises from what had happened.
"Stop acting as if you're really concerned!" I just hissed before I saw his round tired eyes. They were looking at me directly. I felt tranquil for a moment.
"Let's just get your things first." I abruptly took back my arms from him before taking some steps to his locker since that was closed from where we were. There was a bunch of letters in it. It seemed like His admirers never got tired of giving him their love letters and chocolates.
'Zachary Flynn Williams'
I saw his full name on the back of a pink envelope that dropped from his locker. I even saw some small hearts printed on it.
"Haven't you read any of these?" I handed it over to him. There were lots of girls who left their love letters on his locker. He seriously looked at me before putting those back in his locker.
"I don't have time. So if you plan to leave a letter here, better give it to me in person." He wore a smile he did not usually have.
"Don't worry, I don't have a plan to add trash to your locker." I snorted, trying to beat his smugness. He was walking behind me while we were making our way to the cafeteria where Geli was waiting.
"Xincere, did you hang out with Tim?" Geli smiled, half teasing. Put down the tray and gave me a burger and left one for Geli. She got the chips from my hand.
"Who's Tim?" I gave her an inquisitive look while wiping my fingertips using the tissue handed by Zac. He was sitting right next to me. Since Geli had an unexpected make-up class that she just attended, we did not have time to go to the nearest coffee shop where we used to be, so we have decided we just ate in the school cafeteria instead.
"The junior guy who confessed to you last week. Don't tell me you already forgot about him?" She asked me as if I should know about him. But honestly, I failed to remember even his face.
"Of course not. I'm actually not attracted to young guys. I mean, I do not remember having a crush on someone who was younger than I." I shrugged while rummaging in my beige shoulder bag.
"But admit it, he's cute, right? Don't deny it." She uttered with full admiration. I took a glance at Zac who looked so bored.
"Let's go home." Zachary was deadpanned and looked so upset, he probably realized to been bored. But I guess, I am not the one to be blamed. He alone was the one who insisted on coming with me today.
"Okay, Xincere. Let just talk later, I'll let you see the dress I told you about." Geli told me before that she was quite intimidated by his presence, maybe because of his cold personality.
"Let's meet and shop this weekend!" She nodded before hugging me and ran to her boyfriend, who was waiting for her at the other table with his block mates. Our schedule this semester was quite hectic compared to last semester, so we did not see each other much often, even during lunch. I saw a ton of girls who were now looking at me as if I did something that violates the school handbook as Zachary casually put his right hand on my head while we were making our way out of that cafeteria.
"Excuse me..." We turned around and saw a junior guy, as I remember he was a newbie player in the basketball team, he looked so familiar, and I think I have seen him during the last practice game of Zac.
"Is this yours, right?" He was holding a new edition of an Experimental Psychology book. I saw my name printed on it.
'Xincere Calliope Monroe'
"Thank you." I accepted it, not knowing how he knew my name. I saw his not-so-deep dimple on his left cheek as he gave me a sheepish smile before rubbing his nape. He has a clean cut. He looked so neat with his plain white shirt, maybe having pale skin contributes to it as well. He was about six feet tall and looked so tall, but I can still notice that Zac was a bit taller than him, maybe about two inches. Zac tapped his back as their eyes met.
"I saw it in the corridor when I was on the third floor of your building." He smiled so genuinely. And reluctantly look at me before bowing his head a bit.
"Thanks, bro." A quick smile etched on his face. They did the signature handshake of the basketball players.
"Okay, bro. We'll go ahead." Zac gently threw his arms around my shoulders and grimaced as he saw me smiling at the cute dude who gave back my book. He rolled his eyes against me as we were making our way to a vast parking lot of the campus.
"Zac, he was a newbie player on your team, right?" I asked while digging my hand into my bag to check my phone. He was rubbing his lower lip while his gaze was fixed on the road.
"Who?" He asked without showing any affection.
"The cute dude who gave this." I slightly lifted the thick book that I was holding. He immediately stepped on the break before he put his attention back on me.
"Why did you ask?" He furrowed.
"Nothing, I just find him so nice," I answered while I was busy checking on my I*******m account.
"I thought you don't like young guys." I could barely hear him murmuring. I quickly took a glance at him and just shook my head. He was nice, but I did not say that I like that guy. I just let out a deep sigh.
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW I looked at my wrist as I was about an hour in my car, waiting for Xincere Calliope Monroe, the only reason why I never get on time for my first class. I did not remember giving her any gifts on her birthdays, except for numerous alarm clocks and dozens of marshmallows. But in her case, those alarm clocks could no longer handle her, those are no longer be able to wake her up every morning. But despite all her flaws, she was the only girl my age I was comfortable with. And unfortunately, the one who succeeded to make me fall for her quirks that made her so different. I mean, literally different from any other girls. I got my phone in my bag and dialed her number for the nth time this morning. It keeps on ringing. I deeply closed my eyes for a moment and just let out a heavy sigh before I dropped the window of my car as I saw Mrs. Lin walking from where my car was parked. She was one of their household helpe
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW "Xincere, look how many girls are staring at you," Geli whispered while I was watching Zac walking outside the cafeteria. I was not surprised. Actually, most of my block mates hated me for being too closed with Zachary. So instead of pretending nice around them, I just decided to isolate myself from them. "They all looked so jealous," She added. I chuckled a bit as I saw her facial expression. She wrapped her hands around my waist while we were walking to the restroom. "You know Beatrix Ava Paisley? The daughter of the Dean of Psychology department?" A girl who was wearing a knitted red top tucked in her mini-skirt and white pointed heels was asking someone who was in the cubicle. They may be in their first year as culinary students based on their ID. "Are you talking about the Beatrix who was crazy over Zachary Flynn Williams?" They were talking as if no one was around. A girl with shou
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW We were leading from the moment the game had started. So even the first half just ended, my teammates grew complacent about this game, especially our coach. It was pretty obvious how he just played it cool. Maybe because he was the one who was in charge to train the players from the culinary department last month, so he knew how they play, they were our opponents this afternoon. Their coach got sick last month, so they asked our coach if he can train them just for a month. "Bro, we can't deny the strong effect you have on Xincere." Nate tap my back after I successfully got a score from the three-point line. I even saw a bunch of girls who were wearing their department shirts who were now cheering for our team. But Xincere was still seating on the bench while crossing her legs and resting h
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW I used to have heavy menstrual cramping so, I decided to wear a mustard sweatshirt of Zac that I forgot to give back to him last month. Together with my black ripped jeans and my white sneakers. "How do you feel? Do you feel better now?" Mom asked while hastily separating some papers on her desk and putting it in a long brown folder. "Yeah, I'm okay, Mom. Where's Dad?" I asked while looking around to look for him. "He was off early in the morning. I was waiting for you to wake up to check on your condition then, I'll go ahead to the office." I heard a sweet tone of her voice, which was obviously not one of the things I got from her. "You s
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW "Good that you're here, I started cooking and preparing our dinner." Mrs. Monroe was walking in our direction and seemed like she was waiting for us for some minutes. I saw the genuine smile of her that made me reminded of her great resemblance with Xincere. "You can eat now, Zac. I already talked to your Mom earlier, she told me that their business trip is extended. I told her that I can be your temporary Mom until she comes back, so feel free to come over, okay?" I laughed at her joke and nodded my head before we walked inside our house. "Mr. Monroe..." I greeted her dad, who was now watching the football tournament this season on their flat-screen television. He used to watch it with my dad. Whenever we have a family dinner with them, th
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW "Xincere, look how elegant it is with me." Geli let me see the silver necklace she was wearing with its tiny moon pendant. One of the gifts she received from Justice yesterday. She handed me her phone and started to scroll on its screen and let me see the numerous pictures of them that were taken yesterday. She looked so blooming with her coal-black hair tied back in a ponytail with a pair of thin tendrils framed her face. "It really is. As if it was made just for you." I touched its pendant and smiled as I saw unexplainable happiness in her eyes. My attention was diverted to someone who throws me a hoodie. "Zachary!" I exclaimed and hissed at him while trying to comb my hair using my fingers. We got the attention of some students who we
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW It was already 6:30 AM, Xairo had already gone to school, but Xincere was still sleeping in her room. Their parents got home, approximately 2:15 this morning, but went back to the office even before the sun rises earlier. He did not wake up the two. Just leaving a letter in the fridge for them. Mr. Monroe prepared food for us before they went to the office. I used to wake up early, I mean I was actually suffering from insomnia so that I was really struggling to fall asleep, it was hard for me to stay asleep, and the main reason why I wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. I was watching an anime series while waiting for her to wake up, but I actually finished three episodes after Xairo left, but I haven't heard anything from her room except the alarm clocks that buzzed countless times. I don't know if she was really tired
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW I was walking to my locker room to put the books I used in my last class. Zac had his meeting with the whole varsity team together with Nathaniel. As I open my locker, I saw another faded blue envelope that was really similar to the last letter I got received. I looked at the back of it and found the same initials on it, 'L.G.' I clipped it together with the last letter that Zac gave me earlier. Actually, I knew that he did not throw it before as I saw it in his bag the last day I opened it, but I just waited for him to give it back. "I heard that like Pepperoni Pasta, so I made this for you." I heard a familiar feminine tone of voice as if trying to change her natural husky tone of voice into a tiny one, you know, annoying! I may sound so bitter, but I know, anyone who may hear her wil
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEWS "It is you again, crying over the same man. Do you want me to punch him a big-time?" I looked in the direction of someone who had just spoken, but I could barely hear him since my vision was too blurry as my eyes began to well with tears as I try hard to hold them back. I was kneeling again in the same chapel where I used to go. I abruptly sniffed and wiped my nose and tears on the back of my hand, and suddenly realized that my handkerchief was too wet now that I could actually squeeze it because of tears. "Louis?" He smiled before offering his handkerchief to me. I burst into crying as I saw how he managed to give me the same and genuine smile he gave me from the last time I saw him. "What's the problem? Did I say anything wrong? I am
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW "Bro, have you seen "this"?" Justice handed me his phone and I saw some pictures of me with Beatrix. I ran my fingers over my hair and tightly closed my eyes out of frustration, knowing that Xincere might probably see it already as those pictures were uploaded on the official webpage of the university. I furrowed my eyebrows as wondering how they made those photos as if we were just the two of us who were eating together, as I remember it was the night when we won on our first game, all the coaches decided to treat us for lunch. Beatrix had shared a table with us, she seated me beside me, but after I answered the call of my Mom I decided to seat beside our coach since I saw how my teammates together with some of the volleyball players had a good time. They were too noisy. I even saw some shots of pictures when she was just giving me a bot
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW The buzzing sound of my alarm clock was gradually awoken me this morning, I used to have alarm clocks that served as a wake-up call, those were given by Zac, probably because he was hoping that he would not need to wait for me for that long. My gaze was shifted on the neutral color blinds of my room that made me barely see the sunlight while squinted. I turned off my warm white lampshade that was on my side table before gently rubbing my eyes while stretching out my arms. I uttered a short prayer before reading the Bible that was a gift by my Mom, and I was properly seated down on my bed while still yawning. I went straight in the direction of my window and put up the binds, and I was amazed how the sunshine through my windows. Looking at the direction of my comfort room, made me want t
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW It was my fourth repetition in doing a hundred push-ups. Xincere once asked me if why I must do intense workouts though, I already achieved what I want. Xincere did not want someone with too much bulky muscle, so I just maintain my just-enough abs and biceps. Since I used to play basketball, one and a half-hour was enough for a workout once a day. "Man, we will be having our game next week against the Engineering department," Justice uttered while lifting up the 30 pounds on his both hands. I felt the dry towel on my shoulder that was casually thrown by Nate, who was on the treadmill. I sat as I was catching my breath. There were lots of some dudes who tapped my shoulder as they passed by where I was seating. I nodded my head in acknowledgment. I was checking my phone expecting a text mess
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW "So, what did you say?" Mom and Geli were carefully listening and seemed like waiting for me for my answer. I deeply sighed and suddenly regret that I had told them about it. "I told me that he did not pressure me to give my answer right away. So I thought I should not say anything. And besides, it's his fault, I mean, I did not know that he will confess that suddenly, and it was not as romantic as the drama series I am watching, I did not even feel something but irritation as he calls me stupid. Stop asking Mom and Geli. It was not worth our time." I just closed my eyes and just relaxing while I was having our facial treatment in the clinic owned by Geli's mom. Since Auntie is a dermatologist, I used we used to have a discount facial treatment here, and I used to tell Geli that I like taking advantage of being her best friend. The three of us used to come here together when our schedules permit us to d
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW "You'll go with me later, right?" I just rolled my eyes as I saw her thinking as if she had already forgotten about it. But she laughed a bit before shaking my arms. "Of course. I just thought that you just want me to treat you since it is your birthday. But since we have already eaten our dinner, you probably rescheduled it. But if you still want to go out, then I'll go as I promised. By the way, where we will go later?" It was a good thing that his brother called me. I just patted her head before going walked closer to Xairo. "Bro, I just want you to know about this from me, I already asked your dad about it, tonight, I will confess to her." I could not see his reaction as he was now sitting on my sofa while playing my Rubik's cube.
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW It's been a long time since the last time I came to their house. I suddenly noticed the lavish interior in their house, Zac once told me that it was inspired by his Dad's first layout during his college years as an architecture student. Actually, my Dad and uncle were both studying architecture before they decided to put up their business, like Zac and I, they were also attending the same courses and graduated in the same years, and no doubt why they were too closed like brothers. The artwork hanging on the right corner of their white painted wall was one of the art pieces made by his grandmother before she died. And what I found so cool about their house was the built-in security features on it that have a luxury touch in the entire house. I also got by the modern interior design that contributed a lot with the spacious look and cozy
ZACHARY FLYNN'S POINT OF VIEW "I will just take a shower quickly, just give me a moment." I was about to run going to my locker room when she held my wrist to stop me. I turned my gaze on her, who was now wearing her brother's white cap. "Just do it at home. Let's go." I just let her pull me until we got to the vast parking lot where I used to leave my car. She was barely breathing as she faced me. I noticed that she looked so jaded with her round eyes and looked as if she woke up too early this morning, but I just snorted as I realized that she was the main reason why we arrived late at the university earlier. "Why in a hurry? Don't tell me you are too excited for tonight?" I smirked and gave him smug looks. She grimaced before running to get into the passenger seat. S
XINCERE CALLIOPE'S POINT OF VIEW "Hello, Auntie! How are you?" I received a call from Zachary's mom. I used to talk with her, just like how I was closed to my mom. I did not know why I was so comfortable talking with her. Probably because I saw a lot of similarities between her and my mom. They were so pure and used to be so sweet. "We're good here and actually, we are about to have our flight tonight and I just want to ask for your help tomorrow." I smiled as I realized that she was probably planning to have a surprise birthday celebration for Zac. After talking to her, I just found out that she already talked about it with my parents as well as with Xairo. I hastily went to Mom and asked her if we would go to their house tomorrow like what Auntie had told me. "Yeah, w
