"Oh!" My mother beamed a bright smile as she walked up to me while dragging Wes along with her. She practically pushed him into me before turning to some guests who I was making small talk with.

"Mary, Dean," she smiled at the married couple. "I don't supposed you've met my daughters boyfriend. This is Wes."

Wes swung an arm around my waist, pulling me into his side. The move made my whole body tense.

Wes smiled and shook their hands but all I could do was drown out their conversation because the only thing I could focus on was Wes's hand resting on my hip. His arm around me, the feeling of him holding me close to his side.

This was all too much. Too confusing.

Why was I feeling so spun and flustered by all this? It was like I was so stunned and in-love with the little gestures he made but I shouldn't be because it was all for show.
