Isadora

Being in the mansion the following days had felt like a prison. Every room was a reminder of the weight on my shoulders, the stares of the cartel, and Ivan's ever-cold demeanor.

He hadn't said a word to me since that night, outrightly avoiding being in the same space as me. It was times like these that made me wish I had a girlfriend I could converse with.

I thought about how different my life could've been, the scholarship that was snatched away from me and what my life would've been like if things didn't happen the way they did.

Overwhelmed with thoughts, I felt suffocated. I needed out.

Picking up my jacket, I laced my boots and stuffed my phone into the back pocket of my jeans.

A late-night escape wasn't the smartest move, but I really didn't care less.

Viktor had insisted on changing the entire servants in the house after the poison incident. He had also doubled the security after the meeting with the cartel members, so careful not to alert any guards, I slipped out th

Are you even capable of caring?"His eyes flickered for a second, but whatever emotion was there quickly disappeared beneath his usual mask, as always."You're wasting your energy, Isadora. Get in the car".Viktor stepped closer, his hand still on my shoulder. "I think it's best she rides with me", he stated with a flat tone, his gaze fixed on Ivan."And why would she do that?" Ivan interjected,"Look I don't have time for this Viktor, she's my wife! She rides with me.""I'll go with Viktor, that's enough. I just want to go home now please." I said, glancing between the two of them."Fine then', Ivan scoffed as he got into his car and drove off.Viktor's concern was palpable, his touch comforting. Isadora "I've been waiting to hear you say that," Viktor said, a proud look plastered on his face.Ivan remained silent, his expression hardened."I know someone. Someone who knows this world better than any of us. His name's Rafael. He'll teach you all you need to survive in this world, how to make decisions, how to lead."My gaze flickered to Ivan, expecting him to say something, but he remained silent, his jaw tense as he looked away."So when do I start?", I asked, trying to ignore the anxiety in my chest.Viktor met my eyes."Tomorrow, you'll have a lesson everyday. It'll be intense and difficult, sometimes excruciating, but it'll be worth it. And you'll need to start thinking like the leader you're supposed to be."Before I could respond, Ivan said, "I'll be with you, every step of the way." His voice firm, though there was a note of something else, something I couldn't quite place."Fine," I replied finally, crossing my arms. "But I'm tired of being a damsel always needing to

IsadoraAfter the first lesson as I retired for the night, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched. Knowing that there was a spy under the same roof, monitoring and reporting on my movements was making me paranoid. As I on the edge of my bed, I said to myself, "Calm down, you're just imagining things."As I reached for the glass of water on my nightstand, I heard a faint creak echoe through the room. I became still.I listened again, hearing another creak. My heart began to pound. I stood up slowly, grabbing the small knife I had hidden under my pillow ever since the poison incident.I moved towards the door, something in my gut telling me that I wasn't alone.I yanked the door open- only to find nothing."You're being paranoid, Isa," I said rubbing my hands against my arms.Still unconvinced, I stepped out of my room, walking down to the living room.Just as I looked around, I saw a shadow shift near the staircase in the split of a second. My pulse racing, I gri

I heard about what happened last night, I hope you're okay," Viktor addressed me, a look of worry on his face."I'm alright Viktor, thank you." I said as I fell into an opposite seat at the head of the table."I've been thinking. This isn't something we need to fold our arms and just keep watch. We have to act fast." He stated, taking turns to look at the faces of the rest of us in the room."Whoever got in last night won't stop. They were testing the security- next time, they won't just be watching."Ivan cut in coldly, "No they won't. Next time, they'll be dead."After thinking for a moment, I turned to Viktor."So what are you saying Viktor? What do we do?""We set a trap." Isadora The following morning, we met at the main strategy room to discuss the plans for tonight.I sat at the center of the table, my hands clasped. Viktor and Rafael stood on opposite sides, explaining the plan.Ivan leaned against the wall, arms crossed, uninterested in the conversation; his expression still visibly displeased."We control the narrative. We let the spy think they're slipping in unnoticed, when in reality we dictate every step they make- guiding the right our hands." Viktor stated.Rafael continued, his fingers running along the blueprint of the estate on the table. "We leave one entrance 'unguarded', or make it seem like that- the west wing. They'll think it's a weak spot.""And when they take the bait?" I asked, nodding."We surround them, block off all exits, and get them alive. No one pulls a gun unless absolutely necessary. We want them alive." Viktor added."And if it goes wrong?" Ivan interjected coldly."Can you stop being negative? Don't jinx it." I said,

IsadoraMy head throbbed violently. I had realized panic was useless, so I forced my breathing to steady. Some other men walked in."She's awake," the scarred man said as he turned towards them."Good. The boss will want to see her."The doors opened widely and the sound of heavy boots approached, as the distinct sound of a gun being dragged against an iron made my heart pound.A rough hand gripped my chin, forcing my face up. The light from the door cut through the darkness, making my eye squint."Well, well, well," a hoarse voice drawled. "The new queen finally opens her eyes. You were out for quite some time."I blinked rapidly, my vision adjusting to the dimly lit room.A man was crouched in front of me, grinning like a wide animal. He had a rough face, yellow-stained teeth and a wicked look in his eyes."Who are you?" I asked, my throat dry.The man chuckled. "Funny I should be asking you the same thing." He stood up, towering over me."You don't belong in this world, princess.

I repeated, my voice raised and angry, as my eyes moved from Viktor to Rafael to the others in the room. "Why did it take you so long to find me?"A long silence followed as I tried to keep it together.Rafael looked down uncomfortably, his hands running down his face. Isadora Rafael's words kept ringing in my head all night that I could barely even sleep. The next morning, I decided to physically exert myself and take my mind off things, so I made my way to the gym to wear myself out.I put on a pair beige-coloured leggings and matching sports bra that accentuated my curves. The gym was empty when I entered, just the way I wanted it, so I got to work. If clubbing didn't take my mind off things, working out just might.I stepped onto the treadmill, pressed the start button as I began with a gentle jog. Just as I picked up the speed and my muscles warmed up, a voice cut in."Fancy seeing you here," Ivan interrupted, as he stepped in.I turned to look at him. He had on a pair of shorts and a tank top that displayed his toned arms and detailed tattoos that curled up from his neck to his muscular arms. The sight of him made my chest flutter as I almost tripped on the treadmill.Quickly turning it off, I faced him, regaining my composure and keeping my

And with that, I walked out, their gazes piercing holes in my back.I made my way to the VIP Lounge and was seated for a few minutes when a voice cut through the low sound of the music."You're thinking too much, boss."Rafael said, taking a seat on the leather couch, one arm draped over the backrest as he watched me with that easy, knowing smirk of his."Maybe I like thinking," I replied, swirling the champagne in my glass."Or maybe you just don't know how to turn it off," he countered, tilting his head. Isadora "You're actually letting yourself have fun tonight?"I smirked, swirling the dark liquor in my glass as I turned to face Ivan. I had decided to take his advice and let loose a little. The club was alive as always- laughter, music and the scent of expensive cigars filling the air."I wouldn't call it fun," I replied, raising the glass to my lips. "More like... an observation."Ivan chuckled, leaning in slightly. "So you came all the way to observe?"Before I could answer, a familiar voice interrupted."I think she's here to remind us to celebrate."Viktor. He approached with his usual confidence, his dark green eyes assessing the scene before fixating on Ivan. There was something different in them tonight, something hidden but visible enough to notice.I exhaled slowly. I had felt this coming for days, and tonight, under flashing neon lights and influence of alcohol, it was more obvious than ever."Though I wonder, what exactly are we celebrating?" Viktor continued, stopping

"You should get some sleep."I turned around at the sound of Ivan's voice, my fingers tightening around the glass of wine in my hand. I stood by the large window of my penthouse later that night, watching the dark city below, my mind still replaying every detail of our latest victory. The successful interception of Cesar's shipment had sent a clear message. But victories in this world, I had come to understand, were never without consequences. You win some, you lose some.I exhaled, looking at the cold glass of wine in my hand before turning to face Ivan. He stood near the door, arms crossed over his chest, his dark eyes studying me carefully."I will," I replied, my voice quieter than usual. "Eventually."Ivan smirked, stepping closer. "That's what you said three hours ago.""I didn't know you were keeping track.""I always do, when it comes to you." He said reducing his voice at the last part, so that I could barely hear.A slow, unreadable smile played on my lips as I turned back

  • Isadora, The Mafia Queen   A Message For Cesar

Isadora"Are we ready?"My voice was steady, but the weight of what we were about to do hung in the air like a loaded gun. It was the D-day finally. I sat in the warehouse, surrounded by my most trusted men- Ivan, Viktor, Rafael and Diego, the newest player on deck."Everything is in place," Ivan responded as he double-checked the map laid out before us. "Cesar's shipment is due in less than an hour. Security is light- just a handful of armed guards and a few workers. Nothing we can't handle.""And our men?" I inquired, turning my gaze to Rafael, who had been overseeing our positioning for the attack."Already at their spots," he confirmed. "We've got snipers in the building surrounding it, two teams hiding near the shipment containers, and another group ready to block off any escape routes. Once we move in, it'll be quick."I tapped my fingers against the table, my expression neutral. "No mistakes. No surprises. We take everything and send a message."Viktor exhaled sharply, shaking

Isadora"How do we know he's not feeding us bullshit?"Rafael's voice was sharp, his dark brows drawn together as he leaned forward on the couch. His fingers drummed against the armrest, a habit that only surfaced when he was truly agitated.Across from him, I sat with my back straight, eyes focused. Ivan stood beside me, arms crossed, expression unreadable. Viktor for once wasn't openly opposing the idea but remained silent, waiting the tension unfold."We don't," I admitted, my voice calm but firm. "That's why we don't act on it immediately. We verify, cross-check, and if it's legit, we make our move.""I don't like this guy," Rafael scoffed, shaking his head. "The guy worked for Cesar. One wrong step, and this blows up in our faces.""And if we do nothing, we remain blind while Cesar continues making his moves," Ivan countered. His voice was even, but there was an edge to it. "We can't afford to look weak anymore than already. We need intel. This is out best shot."Viktor, who h

He was seated on the edge of the desk, arms crossed, expression unreadable. Rafael leaned back in a chair near the bookshelves, a glass of rum in his hand, waiting for our response.Ivan shut the door behind us before responding. "Diego's interested, but he's not sold yet."Rafael scoffed. "Of course, he's not. Who in their right mind would betray Cesar without a damn good reason?"I took a seat at the small round table in the center of the room, crossing one leg over the other. "That's exactly what we're giving him- a reason. He knows Cesar is unstable. He knows his days are numbered. He just needs to decide whether he wants to remain on the sinking ship or find himself a lifeboat."Viktor ran a hand through his hair, exhaling. "And what if he's playing us? What if he walks right back to Cesar and tells him everything? We'd be handing him our heads on a silver pl
