(Titus p.o.v)
I strode over to the throne and kneeled to my queen and king.
“Rise,” she stated.
Standing up, I remained silent.
“Do you have it?”
“Yes,” I answered carefully while pondering why did she want the angel essence of Gabriel.
An angel essence Is connected to that person. If they become corrupted, so do their essence. When being sent into The Dark World, angels become demons. When demons are sent here, they die as soon as day breaks.
Gabriel, that traitor…. If I’d had known his plans all along, I would have left him buried in the dirt a long time ago. But I can’t get ahead of myself. I am in front of my queen and king, after all.
I reached into my satchel and presented the small jar to the queen.
She praised me, “Good job. I couldn’t have picked a better soldier for the job.”
“May I inquire what the angel essence is for, your majesties?”
My queen smiled, “Of course-!”
“Don’t be a fool, Isla! He is the brother of this so-called traitor we talk about!” my king warned with prejudice in his voice.
Queen Isla snapped at him, “SILENCE! He is also the one to bring that murderer to justice for me! You have no say in this!”
She then turned back to me, “Young Knight, how much do you know about an angel’s essence?”
“It’s the very workings of an angel’s life. It’s a part of them. It is what makes them an angel. Without it, they’re nothing.”
“Can you explain the process of corruption to me, Titus?”
“Yes. Corruption is when the angel’s mind and body start to shape into a demon. Usually, an angel essence would become corrupted too and change to match a demon’s aura. I am still confused, my queen; what does this have to do with anything?” I finished.
Queen Isla explained, “There are certain individuals with strong essences. They only come around once in a lifetime. These people are so rare that they are treasures among angels and demons. Each strong essence is different. However, the individuals with one of those tend to be abnormally strong once their true power is unleashed. It doesn’t matter if their an angel or a demon. They will have it. It’s much too dangerous to let him keep his essence. When he does become a demon, It could be the end of life as we know it. Not only that, but this raw, untrained power in the wrong hands can be disastrous.”
“Your are saying Gabe has one of these?”
“Well, not anymore.”
I looked at the jar and couldn’t help but stare in amazement.
She then ordered, “Come closer, I would like to see what type of essence it really is.”
Once I did, she grasped the jar carefully from my hands, “Ah, yes. The Phenox. There has been many stories about The Phenox. It is said The Phenox is the most powerful of all. I shall make an amulet to seal its powers away, so no one will ever have the pleasure of using it again.”
Nodding I waited in silence.
“You are dismissed. There is no longer a need for your service at the time.”
I bowed low before taking my leave.
(Gabe’s p.o.v)
Slowly waking up, I could only fathom why was it so cold? That is when I remembered that I was sent into the dark world.
My eyes widened before I scrambled to get up. Looking around, I noticed that there was something white blanking the ground and trees. Maybe this was what made it so cold? Not only that but it was very dark here.
After slipping several times, I realized that my whole entire body felt weird. I shook my head, I needed to find a way to prove my innocence. Not whimper like a small child!
With a newfound determination, I risked the cold and trudged through the strange whiteness.
(??? POV)
I sweated as I looked down at my latest achievement. It was a mighty sword that could hone one’s true power. However, it lacked something special. Something that I will need to find out for myself.
I carefully picked it up by the handle, the blade’s iron blade was still much too hot to touch, ‘This will go in the vault for now.’
That is when one of my workers came up to me, “Sir! There’s one that has been sighted!”
“What!? Are you serous!? It’s the middle of winter!?”
“They’re near the east mountain village!”
I quickly handed the sword to his shaky hands, “Here, turn this over to the vault! Don’t break it! Tell the others I’ll be back!”
The boy nodded, “y-yes, s-sir!”
Quickly, I grabbed my heavy coat and travelling bag before heading out of the shop’s front door. If I waste anymore time, it could be drastic.
(Gabe POV)
It felt like an eternity as I pushed through the white fluffy ice. My clothes were soaked, I felt a little dizzy, and my whole body was going numb.
Just as I was about to give up hope, I noticed a light in the far-off distance. Using what my legs would carry, I ran as fast as I could to the light.
The only thought going through my head at the time was, ‘Light? Here!?’
Once I came to a cliffside, I gasped at the sight. It was a village!! I’m saved!! Not minding that this was still The Dark World, I looked around for a beaten path. As soon as I found one, I followed it to the village. When I got there, I realized that the light came from several torches hanging on the houses and a big fire pit in the center of the village.
‘Fire? I guess that’s something we have in common… weird…'
Suddenly, someone plowed right into me. I fell backwards immediately. Once the dust settled, I noticed a little kid with pointed ears. He stared at me for a few moments before he started to yell:
“Ug! Watch where you're going old man!”
I just sat there in shock as he got up and brushed off the white off his clothes. That’s when I noticed he was wearing really heavy clothing.
“What are you looking at!? Are you death!?” the child got even more angry.
“Woah, Calm down! I’m sure we can talk-!?”
He started to laugh, “What are you? An angel? Who even wants to talk like that? HAHAHA!”
I blushed, what is so wrong with being an angel? Being an angel should be an honor! But he talks as though it’s something to laugh at!
I opened my mouth again, “Hey-!”
“Jack!!!” I heard a man’s voice yell.
The kid’s eyes widened, “Shoot!” He then turned towards me, “I don’t have time to deal with the likes of you!”
Then, just as fast as he appeared, he disappeared, “Wow, that kid is fast.”
Drip!
I looked up to notice a lot of raindrops coming my way fast. Soon enough, I was even more wet than I was before.
I let out a sneeze before I noticed a young woman come my way. She noticed me right away as her eyes widened.
“Oh! You’re soaking! Come with me! I run an inn with my sister!”
I gulped, “B-But I don’t have any money….”
She smirked, “Don’t worry about it!”
“Okay….”
(Gabe pov) I looked around as we entered a nice-looking inn. Of course, everything appeared faded. Similar to most of the Dark World so far, the colors aren’t as bright. In fact, most things appeared black and white, like my now soaking clothes. As soon as we were in the foyer, Ava called out to her sister. “SIS!”
(Gabe’s POV) After what felt like hours, we finally stopped in a clearing. The strange man turned to me, “We’ll camp here for the night.” “It’s nighttime!? How can you tell!?” He sighed, “You get used to it after a while. A way to tell is that there is no stars in the sky when it’s day and stars at night.”
(Gabe POV)The capital is humongous! There are many types of buildings I’ve have not seen before. Not only that but there are lots of strange lights coming from the buildings and streetlights.“Stop gawking!” Azz warned.I took his warning and tried my best not to stare at every little thing that came my way. But it was really tempting to do so. The city was amazing. Nothing I’ve seen at home before.
(Titus POV)They should be here. From what I’ve gathered, the priests live on the outskirts of the town surrounding the castle. It’s a peaceful place surrounded by trees and other greenery.Looking around, I could only slump my shoulders in defeat. I just can’t find them!“What do you need child?”I turned around startled, “!”The priest apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”“Grover, right?”“Actually, it’s Giles. Do you need Grover?” he asked concerned.
(Gabe POV)URG! I feel as though I’ve swept this shop for the millionth time today! Azz still hasn’t told me squat on anything! I rely on Ralph for most of, if not all, the information! Not only that, but they have me working day and night to clean the shop, so I’ve got nothing done on finding a way back home!I sighed; it has been two weeks now since I came here. I have hardly interacted with anyone besides Ralph and Azz. I see Arthur occasionally, but he’s too scared to share a word with me. Azz has basically put a ban on me leaving the building because of some unknown reason. How much boring can It get? That’s when I felt it: anger. (Gabe pov)“Feeling better?” Fayda walked into the room just as I finished up my tasks around the shop. It’s been a few days since I 've been sick and I am feeling a whole lot better. I was no longer blacking out and my emotions are now in my control.“Yeah! I feel great!”She let out a sigh of relief, “Good…” The doctor then looked me seriously in the eyes, “So Azz told me you don’t know a thing about the corruption prosses and sent me to explain everything.”I hung my head low, “Yeah… the process to become a demon….”Fayda then asked me to
(Azz POV)“He’s not at the station!” Arthur announced quickly.Ralph added, “Nor at any of the restaurants in the city!”“No one has reported anything yet!” Fayda said sternly.“We need to find him! Keep looking and making calls!” I demanded. When I got back from delivering an order, no one was here. I called Ralph, Fayda, and even Arthur to see if Gabe was with them. I panicked. Gabe was not with any of them. So, we started to make calls around the city to see if he has been spotted anywhere. However, we haven’t had any luck yet.‘Where could that darn boy be!? Didn&
(Gabe POV)“Any new leads yet?” Ralph asked casually as he served Azz and me tea.I sighed, “no….”He smiled, “No worries! I’m sure you’ll figure it out soon enough!”I smiled back at him, “Thanks. I’m sure we wi-!”“Don’t be a fool, we don’t know if we’ll find anything yet.” Azz interrupted.Looking down, I could only feel sorrow. Will I ever see my brother again? That’s when a someone rushed into library, “Sir! Some of our resistance members are being attacked! We ne
(Gabe’s POV) “Inside the demon lord’s castle!? Isn’t that the place we’ve been trying to avoid!?” I shouted in horror. Azz nodded, “Yes, but we may have a chance now.” I cocked my head in confusion. “You’ve had your change of power already, and it’s much more powerful than any demon power that I have seen in my lifetime.” I was still confused, so he repeated what had happened the night before in as much detail as possible. “I DID THAT!?” “You did.” “Why don’t I remember?” I asked. He looked like he was thinking for a moment before answering, “I honestly don’t know. I didn’t even realize it was you in the first place. Then the way you were acting… it was like it wasn’t you at all...” “Huh?” “Never mind that.” He then continued, “All that matters is we have the upper hand now. I think with a lot of training, you’ll be able to control it in no time, and we’ll be able to get to The Arc
(Titus POV) It’s been a few days since we’ve gone into The Dark World, and it couldn’t be worse. It’s like a warzone out there. Many swarms of demons have attacked us each day. Then, when we think it’s over and can finally rest, more appear in our sights. In other words: we have not made any progress. If we keep this up, we will not make it to Gabe in time. So it is time that I devised a plan. I looked around at my comrades around me. They were getting extremely fatigued from fighting the demons. It made me wonder: is Gabe even alive after going through all of this? Shaking my head of doubt, I tried to concentrate. We’ve been mainly attacked in the air and on the ground. What about the underground? Like a sewer system or tunnel. Now that is an idea! However, do the demons even have that? If they did, it would most definitely be hidden from plain sight. I glanced around the area in mid-flight before shouting at the others, “KEEP IT UP, WE CAN’T
(3rd person) Both demon knights pointed to the stranger with white hair. Soon the strange monster-like demon rushed forward. It tried to grab the boy with its many limbs too, but he dodged them all. Azz yelled, “GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE YOUR KILLED!” But the younger male did not listen; instead, he rushed forward much like Azz did earlier. “YOU IDIOT!!” When one of his swords started to get pulled in, he smirked. Suddenly light engulfed the field. Blinding all in it. Once the light cleared. The boy’s sword was no longer halfway in the beast’s body, and Azz was on the forest floor with his eyes wide in surprise.
