Chapter 5: I promise to give you the best life!

After receiving this news Charlotte was shocked, this was the last thing she wanted to hear in her whole life, she panicked and while her voice was shaking she said:

- Pregnant? Doctor, you must be joking with me, no, of course not... How can that be possible? We always use condoms, that can't be true, you must be mistaken.

The doctor looked at her and let out a slight laugh, grabbed the pregnancy test and showed it to her as he said:

- Miss, did you use contraceptive pills? You should know, but condoms are not the best contraceptive method, although they work wonders, you should not only use them, you should also take care of yourself, because if you don't notice, they can come broken or simply break during sexual intercourse.

Charlotte could not believe it, she was paralyzed by this news, but when she heard the doctor she looked at him and answered:

- No doctor, I wasn't using pills.... -Doctor, another question I would like to ask you is who was the person who brought me here? I really don't remember.

The doctor with a smile on his face and very kindly answered her question:

- A tall dark man brought you here, I don't know his name, we only know that he paid for the consultation in cash and when he heard the news of your pregnancy he said he would go to tell your parents, but he hasn't returned and he has been gone for some time, now well miss I have to leave, in a few minutes a nurse will come by and she will take all that away so you can go home, remember to rest, my friend.

Without another word, the doctor turned around and started walking to the door to attend to other patients.

Charlotte did not understand anything and in her head she said to herself:

- Did you go to tell my parents? If my parents see him, the least they'll do is try to kill him... Where has he gone to get this one.

Charlotte again settled down to wait for the nurse to arrive so that they could remove all the devices she was wearing and then go home, she wanted to get out of that place, besides she had to talk to Alejandro to see what he thought of this news.

After a few minutes Charlotte was ready, they had already removed the serum and other extra things she had, she quickly went to the entrance and sat there waiting for her boyfriend Alejandro who had said he would come back with her.

Many minutes were already passing and Charlotte was watching people going in and out of the hospital and she didn't even have a phone so she could call her boyfriend and he would be looking for her, she was starting to get angry from waiting so long.

Much later Charlotte got up from the chair she was in and angrily started to leave the hospital, she was tired of waiting so long and for nothing because there was no trace of this boy all over the place.

After several minutes walking Charlotte was already going up the stairs to get to the door of her room, when she entered she could see that the apartment was much cleaner than she had left it the last time, it seemed strange to her, since there was nothing lying on the floor of her boyfriend and without further ado she went to her room to lie down and rest a little.

When she entered her room she noticed that there was an envelope on the night table, she found this strange and quickly went to where it was, took it and began to open it quickly, when she began to read it, it said:

"I am Alejandro Hernandez, I am sorry for what I will tell you, but I am not fit to be a father, I really do not have enough money to be one, from today I will leave your life and I do not know what you will do with the child you are carrying in your womb, really my advice is to abort it, you are still too young to be a mother, I could not tell you this in person, but besides three months of rent are already due and soon they will be taking you out of the place..... Talk to your parents and go home."

Charlotte, when she finished reading this letter, crumpled it up in her hand and angrily threw it against the wall and began to cry:

- Damn you Alejandro Hernandez! Why does everything bad have to happen to my God? Why? - Charlotte's eyes began to fill with tears, these were not of sadness, they were of impotence as she felt that life was always punishing her with worse things.

Charlotte was tired, because she had really walked a lot that day and already the pregnancy made her a little more sedentary, she in her head while looking at the ceiling began to think of many things like:

- Could it be that I don't have this baby? Could it be that I'm getting out of here? I don't have a single euro on me to pay the rent. -Tears began to fall from her face, she was a delicate girl and being involved in so many problems made her much more sensitive- "Could it be that I'm going to my parents? I haven't heard from them for a long time and now that I need them I don't even have enough to call them?

She sighed as she tried to get up, and frowned, she wasn't going to cancel the three months rent that was due, so without further ado as she stood up she went to her closet and began to take all her clothes out of there and began to throw them on the bed, she was doing it quickly, although she didn't know where to go she knew she couldn't stay in that place for another minute.

Charlotte's face began to fill with tears again, she could not believe what was happening to her, while she was arranging her clothes to put them in her suitcase, she took one of her hands to her belly and while she was rubbing it she said:

- My boy or girl, I promise to give you the best life they can give you, the one I never had! You won't cry for hunger, you will have toys and I promise you that from the moment I have you, you will see the world in a rosy color and no one will change that.

Charlotte finished putting away all her clothes, she didn't have a lot of them, she reached her hands to the zipper of the suitcase and with force she began to slide the zipper to close it, she grabbed the suitcase with force and carried it to the door, when she was in front of it, she heard some knocking on the door, Charlotte was surprised, they never received visitors and if they did, Alejandro received them outside.

When she heard the door she brought her eye to the peephole of the door and saw that it was a man who seemed to be very upset and while waiting at the door this man said:

- How long will I have to wait for this guy to pay, if they don't pay today I'll kick them out on the street!

Charlotte when she heard this her face changed and her skin tone was very white, but when she heard this she became so pale that it seemed that she was going to disappear because of how white she looked, she dropped the suitcase on the floor without making noise and sat on it waiting for him to leave.

After a few minutes Charlotte again got up from where she was and looked out to see if this guy was still there waiting, but apparently he had already left, she waited another few minutes to look through the peephole again and confirm if he was still there or not, after a while he was not there and Charlotte did not wait a second longer when she quickly opened the door and threw the keys into the room and closed it, without looking back she began to head to the stairs so she could start to go down them slowly.

After a few minutes, the same man who was upstairs was now a few floors down, and when he saw Charlotte with a suitcase and coming down the stairs, he stopped what he was doing and started shouting:

- Ma'am! Hey the rent," he began to approach Charlotte's location, "Ma'am you owe the rent!

Charlotte was rushing down the stairs as if there was no tomorrow, without looking back, still listening to the screams of the collector, when she was on a floor she saw an open door of a warehouse of the building and quickly went to this place and when she was there she closed the door and keeping silence she stayed there for a few minutes waiting for the collector to go up again so she could leave the place as quickly as possible.

She could not stand it any longer and without being able to avoid it her eyes filled with tears again, she could not believe what was happening and in her head she said to herself:

- You are running away from your landlord because you have no money when you thought everything was rosy from the beginning when you left home! I see that things are not like that and I just have to apologize to my parents. -She wiped the tears from her face.

Charlotte got up determined to do what was going to be and without further ado opened the door to see if the landlord was still around, she turned around and when she saw that no one was there she quickly left the warehouse and started to go back downstairs.

She was already very determined, she knew she had to apologize to her parents, for what she did even younger, but she did not know how to tell them that this time she was not returning alone, but also with a child in her womb whom she loved and wanted to have.

When she reached the top of the stairs she left the building and knew that even though her home was far away she didn't have a single euro to catch a bus and very sad with a crestfallen look on her face she continued walking home.
