CHAPTER 76

OWEN'S POV

I was still angry and I ran a hand through my hair as I tried to calm myself down. The tension in the air felt heavy, suffocating even. Charlotte hadn’t said a word since I yelled at her, and now, guilt was beginning to draw at me.

I shouldn’t have snapped at her. She didn’t deserve any of that. But it was hard to push down the anger, the betrayal.

Ethan had been with me through everything, she was right about that. He's been by my side for years, but now everything pointed back to him.

The papers, the shares sold off without my knowledge. All of it. The anger threatened to again, but I swallowed it, not wanting to lash out at Charlotte any more than I already had.

A buzz in my phone had my heart skipping a bit. This anonymous source made me tense for no reason.

I looked at Charlotte, who was still standing in front of me, quiet and tense. Her arms were wrapped around herself, and her head was turned away from me. I couldn’t bear to see her like this, upset because of me
