It was Aubrey's first time ever to drive that fast, but she was worried about him and she was scared that he might wake up at any moment and drive back to his place. She didn't want him to drive while he was drunk. She could not afford another loss for the same reason. She was not going to live that misery again. She was not ready to put flowers on the grave of somebody else who was dear to her.

The moment she walked inside the pub, her eyes looked for the bar, doing her best to spot Jordan. She slowly approached the bar and with each step she took, her heart sank even more. Not once had she imagined seeing him in that condition.

"Hello, is this Bryce?" Aubrey asked the bartender.

Aubrey was awoken by someone furiously shaking her at nine in the morning. She groaned as she opened her eyes and looked up at whoever was shaking her; Maria was in front of her. She expected that to happen. She already knew that if Maria woke up before her, she'd bombard her with billions of questions."What exactly is Jordan exactly doing on our couch?" Maria asked her curiously while taking a seat on the bed."Sleeping," Aubrey answered as a matter of fact."No shit Sherlock!" Maria rolled her eyes. Aubrey yawned as she stretched her arms and sat up. "Come on! Talk!""I had to go get him from a bar last night, okay? He was super drunk and I had to get him. That crazy man wanted to drive while he couldn't even identify me clearly,"

Jordan picked the letter that was on Aubrey's car windshield. He had already thought that it could be a letter from a fan, but on opening the letter after asking for Aubrey's permission, he was sure that it was not from a fan. It was more of a threat. This letter was most probably from the same person who sent Aubrey the teddy bear. "What does it say?" Aubrey asked him. He did not want to freak her out, but she had the right to know. She needed to take the necessary precautions after all.'Aubrey, Jordan is no good for you. What was he doing at your place last night? You're much better than him. Maybe if you looked thoroughly, you'd be able to see through his deceitful acts. You deserve to be treated like royalty and he's not the one to do that.

Aubrey was done with the interview after an hour. She was quite content when the questions did not revolve around her relationship with Jordan. The questions were very interesting as the interviewer asked her about her views and her upcoming projects."You did great." Austin high-fived Aubrey once she was done. She had this huge smile on her face. She was really happy with the interview that it changed her mood. "You've got a long day tomorrow, are you ready for it?""I am! I already wrote three more songs that we can check together tomorrow!" she said excitedly. Aubrey trusted her manager and she liked to ask for his opinion regarding everything. It was more of a brother-sister relationship to her than a relationship of co-workers."Aren't you a hard-working girl?" He playfully ruffle

  • In the Spotlight   Twenty-two

Three days had passed since Aubrey was attacked. On the night of the attack, she stayed with Jordan. He did not leave her side even though she was not as shaken up as she used to be, but he was being extremely cautious, like how one approaches a butterfly, afraid of scaring it away. He could not believe it, but Aubrey slept in his arms that night; it was not intentional, however, he could not deny his glee the following morning when he woke up and found her head nuzzled in the crook of his neck while his arm was around her small waist. He thanked the fate that made her fall asleep holding onto him while they were watching a movie.Joy radiated from his soul on seeing her cuddled up into him. He loved how close she was to him and the way her body was almost glued to his. Aubrey was the missing puzzle piece of his soul and all he wanted was to own that missing piece but not in a possessive

  • In the Spotlight   Twenty-three

It was around 11 pm and Aubrey could not fall asleep. She kept tossing and turning in bed, but sleep did not pay her one of its pleasant visits. She had many things to do the next morning, but that was not motivational enough to make her sleep. She had a lot in her mind. She kept thinking about what Jordan did to get to know her. She wanted to be mad at him, but she couldn't. She did not find a valid reason to be mad at him. She let out a loud sigh and got out of bed. She opened her closet and got out the nearest leggings she found along with a hoodie. She knew the reason why she could not fall asleep and she was about to put an end to it. She wanted to find closure. She wanted to kill her headache. Aubrey tried to throw her hai

Maria woke up in the morning and she made her way to the kitchen after she took a shower. On seeing two figures sleeping on the couch, she jumped back and let out a muffled scream as she placed a hand over her chest. It was turned into a bed, so it would be more comfortable. Slowly, she walked towards it and she found Aubrey and Jordan asleep, cuddling into each other. "Oh for God's sake! You almost gave me a heart attack!" she exclaimed loudly enough to wake the two of them up. "Too much energy in the morning," Aubrey murmured, pulling the covers more over her body and snuggling closer into Jordan. "Too many surprises and it's just nine in the morning." Maria scoffed. Mentioning the time was enough to make Aubrey's eyes shoot open. "Shit! I'm going to be late," she hissed, getting off the couch and running to t

Jordan looked at himself in the mirror to check how he looked. Usually, he did not pay much attention to whatever he was wearing when he visited his family, but he knew that Aubrey would make an appearance, so he wanted to look good enough for her. He was wearing dark jeans with a light grey sweater. He had a dark blue shirt under the sweater and he wore his Rado black watch. He looked quite elegant. He drove to his family's place, but before going, he stopped at one of the stores and bought many snacks and chocolate for Jessica; chocolates were one of the secrets to her happiness and he loved making his sister happy, especially that she was feeling down. He rang the doorbell once he arrived. He had a key to the place, but he was too lazy to get it out of his pocket. Jessica opened the door for him. Upon seeing him, she eyed him from head to toe as he looked very dressed-up. &nbs

It was the date night, the day that both Aubrey and Jordan had long anticipated. Excitement filled their hearts and it was vivid on their features. It was a dream that had finally come true. As cliché as it sounds, but each of them felt that the other was their missing piece. They fit together like puzzle pieces. Aubrey looked at herself in the mirror and took in a heavy breath. She wanted to look perfect for him. She wanted him to be in awe on seeing her. That night, Aubrey knew that she had to let go of every insecurity she had ever endured in her entire life. She wanted to have her dream date, she wanted to leave the real world for a few hours and get on the ninth cloud. She wanted to impress him, so she wore the colour he loved on her; she wore a short green dress of the same shade like the one she wore at the party. It was an off-shoulder dress which was flowing from the bott

"I'm finally seeing him! I'm finally seeing him!" Aubrey squealed as she got off the plane with Maria and Jessica. They have been on a vacation for a month. They went to more than six countries together. They went on the vacation they talked about on the day of the trial. It was a girls-only vacation just as they planned. Jordan wasn't really excited about the whole thing since he was going to be staying away from Aubrey for a month, but he definitely wanted her to go and have fun."For the love of God!" Jessica rolled her eyes playfully at Aubrey. "It was just one month." She chuckled."Exactly! A month! Like 30 days! I miss him!" Aubrey whined as they walked to the bus that would take them from the plane to the arrival hall. The girls decided to go on this vacation after exactly twenty days of the trial. Ever since Austin's chapter in Aubrey's life came to an end, she became a whole new person. She was more cheerful, happier and she seemed to be more alive. She was b

Aubrey stood in front of the mirror and she adjusted her grey suit on her body. She styled it with a blue blouse that was tucked in the suit's pants. She took in a shaky breath and closed her eyes for a couple of seconds then she opened them again. "You got this," she whispered to herself. "Are you done, babe?" Jordan asked her as he walked out of the dressing room. He approached her from behind and she turned around to face him. "I guess I am." She smiled a little at him. She took her clutch that was on the bed and the two of them went downstairs. Just as they reached the bottom floor, the doorbell rang so Aubrey went to open the door. She found Maria and Jessica before her. "You were supposed to be in Miami," she said in shock, looking at Jessica. Jessica did have a modelling gig she managed to get for a perfume commercial and it was supposed to b

Jordan and Aubrey were still sitting together, watching Netflix while munching on the fruits. Aubrey was sat on his lap. Originally, she was sitting beside him while he had one arm around her and her head was on his shoulder, but lately, they took a liking in that position. It just happened naturally, they didn't do it intentionally. Without even noticing, she would find herself on his lap and honestly, she preferred that position. As they were sitting together, the inner telephone rang, meaning that the security on the mansion gate was calling."Who is at the gate?" Jordan sat up as he talked on the phone. By his tone and the look on his face, the visitor wasn't really favoured."Give me a minute," he said through the phone then looked at Aubrey. "Dana is outside. She wants to see you," Jordan told Aubrey, who seemed to be a bit taken aback by what she had just heard."Dana as in... Austin's girlfriend?" Aubrey gulped, looking at Jordan. He nodded and wa

Aubrey's breath caught up in her throat and her chest started to rise and fall rapidly. She was experiencing another nightmare; the third one in her first week with Jordan. She saw Austin in her nightmares. He would always torture her, hit her and of course, rape her. The nightmares' ideas were the same, but the order of the events was different each time. Her body jolted up as she screamed. Tears were streaming down her face as the intensity of the nightmare managed to break her peaceful sleep or semi-peaceful sleep. She longed for a peaceful night with no nightmares or overthinking, but it seemed like one of those two attacked her each night.Jordan was awoken by her scream and he immediately turned on the light of the lamp on his nightstand. He placed his hand on her back and started to gently rub it."I'm s-sorry." She breathed heavily. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I didn't want that." She whimpered, looking down. She was embarrassed by her state and the s

Aubrey curled up into a ball and stayed in bed. She didn't want to sleep, she just wanted to run away from everyone. She wanted to run away from the looks of sympathy and the questions that roamed their minds. Everything was taunting her, mocking her and even reminding her of what she went through. The looks of pity made the memories attack her. The days she spent locked up in that atrocious cabin played at the back of her mind like a tape on rewind and she failed to turn it off. She looked at the door when she heard it being opened; Jordan walked inside. He wanted to check on her because he was more than sure that she was far from being okay. It killed him to see her in that state, he despised seeing her broken. She resembled an angel with broken wings.
