It was early in the morning when Vanessa heard Edward walking around her room. She peeped her eyes open to watch as the man finished pulling a shirt on and button it up.
She kind of wanted to demand that Edward take his clothes back off and crawl into bed and on top of her. But at the same time, she was barely holding back a yawn.
“Stay in bed baby,” Edward came over to play with Vanessa’s hair.
“Aren’t you leaving?” Vanessa asked in confusion and reached out her hand from under the warm blanket to run her fingers against the soft fabric of Edward’s shirt.
“Yes but you can sleep in,” Edward pulled out a card from his pocket and placed it on the bedside table where Vanessa could reach it if she wanted.
In some ways being with Vanessa was the easiest thing in the world, but in some ways, it was the hardest thing for Edward. It wasn’t always easy to shut off the part of his brain that just wanted to keep working on his company’s issue day long. He loved it. But he also loved being around Vanessa. The part that was the most difficult was how easy it was for him to stay at work long hours on days when he knew he wouldn’t be seeing Vanessa. When Vanessa had worked all that Edward would do was stay at work. His schedule only changed when he needed it to.Logically he knew that he hadn’t really changed his ways that much at all. He was still putting in long hours, just adjusting them around Vanessa’s schedule.
It was a weird feeling being both absolutely head over heels for someone and watching what they were doing with such disappointment and sorrow.Vanessa had never been happier with anyone before which only made it harder to suddenly feel like it was slipping away from her. As much as Edward liked to take care of her when he was around, that didn’t stop him from falling back into his habit of letting work overrun his life.Vanessa understood it, she really did. Just like she loved working in that cafe and could lose herself in it, so did Edward with his company’s work.Unlike Edward though, Vanessa didn’t let her passion get in the way of the other aspects of her life.It was a little different because it was also Edward’s career on the line, but wh
~ EDWARD~I felt awful the next day. I knew that I’d messed up as soon as Vanessa had left her work without so much as coming to say goodbye first. Then going to talk to her later had just made me realize how bothered Vanessa had been lately.I knew that we’d been off, but it seemed like things were just getting worse. My first instinct was usually to bury myself in work, but instead of going into the office, I decided to stay home that day.As soon as I worked up the nerve I texted Vanessa to see when we could talk and then waited. The longer that Vanessa took to get back to me the more nervous I got.I couldn’t even really focus on getting any work done because I kept checking my phone. It’s been 2 months since Edward and Vanessa had separated their ways for good. It’s been 2 months since they last talked. It’s been 2 months since Edward asked Vanessa to wait for him. It’s been 2 months since they’ve both been holding up their hearts for each other but they’ve been apart. It’s already been 2 months and lots of things have changed around them.In these two months, Edward was trying to get a single chance to catch his uncle red-handed to throw him out of his company and behind the bars.He had gathered enough proof against his uncle for all his wrongdoing. He had planned to get his uncle’s most loyal people on his side and he was getting so close to the truth. All he needed to do was
It was a weird phenom to always want to shower after going to the beach. Between the sand, sunscreen, and sweat it was impossible not to feel gross after a day by the water.Since they were in a house full of people Vanessa was mindful only to take a quick shower so they didn’t run out of hot water. She did take the time to blow dry her hair out though.Eric had made it clear that they were on their own for the night since he was dragging Emma out into town for a quiet dinner together.Vanessa didn't blame him but she also had no idea what the others were thinking about doing. After throwing on new clothes, she went downstairs to find that Jacob was already in the living room.“Everyone else still showering?&rdquo
Someone was being loud in the house. That wasn’t surprising. But what was surprising was that Edward quickly realized he wasn’t alone in his bed.Without opening his eyes Edward could feel the comforting weight of Vanessa’s body half flung over his. A leg was tangled in between his, an arm wrapped around him, and a face pressed against his neck.As he blinked and took stock of his bedroom he realized they must have fallen asleep watching television because it was actually still on.He remembered the butterflies in his stomach when Vanessa had curled up closer to him the night before, but the cuddling must have just happened when they fell asleep.Really he was helpless to bring his fingers up through Vanessa’s hair, enjoying the sleepy groan that
Edward was trying to distract his attention from the temptation of Vanessa but no matter how hard he tried it wasn’t working. He was shuffling in his seat, trying to talk with others to keep him distracted. He was talking with Jacob when they were distracted by the notification sound of Jacob’s phone. They both looked at his phone and they frowned upon it. It was the message from the secretary of Edward’s mother.“What’s it about?” Edward asked with a scowl.Jacob tapped on the screen of his phone and he was amazed by the content.“It worked, Edward.” He said with excitement, his voice was a little too h
Had Vanessa ever been more surprised than the moment when Edward told Nick they were a couple? If so, she couldn’t recall. She was still in dismay even after they came back to the villa. If you’d asked her what she would have expected Edward to say it would be a dismissive answer or not to reply at all.For Edward to so casually say that they were together kind of blew her mind. She was torn between wanting to ask Edward a million questions, play it cool, and tear off his clothes on the spot. But of course, they were surrounded by friends so she mostly just had an internal battle withherself.Sure enough, as the storm picked up outside the house suddenly went dark. It was time to go home. Edward couldn’t decide if he was more excited or more anxious about it. Everything had been going so well between him and Vanessa, but that was on vacation. Now it was time to go back to the real world. It didn’t help that everything felt like a rush. A rush to get the rental back into order. A rush to pack everything. A rush to get to the airport on time. ~ WEEKS LATER ~~ Edward was on his computer in his home office when Vanessa came in to check on him. “Work?” Vanessa asked curiously, her hair was still wet from the shower she’d just taken.
