“I sometimes think how things would have been if we did not meet the way that we did,” said Xavier as he stared at Cara over the breakfast table.

“You would not even have looked at me,” said Cara with a smile as she sipped from the glass of orange juice.

“That is not true at all. I would have stared at you in a way that would have made you squirm badly.”

“No you would not. You would always look at the tall leggy blondes and would not even think of paying me any attention.”
