“What….who are you?” She asked in fear. Her hands were shaking but she tried to steady herself. He tilted his head and replied.
“I’m a vampire” he replied simply and she burst into laughter, it was a nervous kind of laughter, she was trying to mask her fear with the laughter. “Vampire? Really?” She paused and studied him carefully “I believe in angels and demons, I believe in God and satan but vampires?” She chuckled again before saying “Vampires aren’t real” He watched her for a long time, shrugged and said “okay” then he vanished. Now she really started to panic, he was still in her room but he was invisible and if he really was a vampire, he could attack her. “Alright fine! I believe you, you’re a vampire. Now could you please show yourself?” He materialized right in front of her and they stood staring at each other, her, trying to process the fact that an actual vampire was standing in her room and he staring at her with curiosity and amusement. It’s funny she thinks the gun she was holding would have any effect on him. “What do you want?” Hadassah finally asked after minutes of silence. “Can you please put the gun down?” He asked politely and she did. He was very attractive for a vampire, he was tall and skinny with an athletic build, his pale skin shone under the moonlight ray, his raven black hair was neatly gelled back with one strand falling on his face, and his lips were as red as blood and his fangs were visible whenever he talked. He wore all black blending with the darkness, he looked breathtaking and she found herself unable to look away from his dark eyes which was like looking into a black hollow hole. Somehow, she felt safe standing here with him, he didn’t seem like he was going to harm her and she tried to steady her heartbeat reassuring herself that if he wanted to harm her, he would have done so before now. “Are you the one who’s been watching me?” “Yes” he replied without hesitation and she was impressed by his honesty. “Why?” She asked again and he tilted his head to the left, she found it amusing, the way he tilted his head. “Why? Hmm…” he put a finger on his chin “I’m not sure I understand why” She giggled “Okay, you’re a funny vampire. You got a name?” “Aamon” “Aamon? My name is Hadassah” “I know” he responded “Right. Of course, you know that. You’ve been watching me” “It’s nothing creepy” he replied looking a bit embarrassed and she had to admit it was a bit cute. But she still felt the need to ask, “People have been dying and this mark happens to be on their necks” She showed him pictures of the dead bodies and his eyes darkened. “So you assume….” “Well, you are a vampire. It’s only right for me to assume. These are fang marks….” “I didn’t do it” he replied sharply and she narrowed her eyes. “So who did?” she asked, and he shrugged “Are there other vampires?” “None that I know about” “So you’re basically the only vampire,” she asked, and he nodded looking a bit uncertain. “And where do you live?” “Somewhere, but I frequent the old house that people call ‘cursed’. Is this an interrogation detective?” He raised a brow. “Maybe, maybe not.” she crossed her arms as he took a seat on her desk chair, crossed his long legs and faced her. ‘So, he's the one people see standing by the window?’ she thought . “Let the interrogation continue” She chuckled but continued anyway “How old are you Mister Aamon?” “A hundred and twenty years old” “This is that part of the story where if I had a drink in my mouth, I’ll suddenly spit it out.” She said and he chuckled “a hundred and twenty? Wow, you’ve lived for more than a century. Were you born a vampire?” He laughed, it was a short, humorless laughter “Honey, no one is born a vampire. Plus, female vampires can’t give birth, it’s impossible. So I can’t be born a vampire” “So you were turned into one? How?” “I was bitten” “And where is this vampire who bit you?” “He’s dead. I killed him” “I thought vampires are supposed to be immortal” “We can be killed. Ever heard of a wooden stake through the heart?” “Oh. Right!” There was a long silence as she thought about how to put the words she was about to say in a way that wouldn’t annoy him. “Mister….” “Just Aamon please” “Okay, Aamon, you’re a vampire, right? And vampires drink blood right? And you live in the cursed house, right? Well, the people who’ve been dying are being found outside that building with a strange mark on their necks and no blood in their bodies. There’s no easy way to say this but all signs point to you since you’re the only vampire around.” She drew in a sharp breath before saying “Do you mind if I take you in, like in the station….?” His eyes darkened and she quickly added “For more questioning obviously” He stood up abruptly and he looked visibly upset as his dark eyes became darker. He smirked a bit before replying, “If that’s the case Detective Hadassah Alyssa Darby, you’re gonna have to catch me first. By the way, I said I live somewhere else, not at the old house. Let me give you a hint as to where you'll find me for more ‘questioning’ I’ll be at the old building” With that being said, he vanished and the wind that rushed in at his disappearance told her he was gone. “Shit!” She spat “If he’s so innocent, then why is he running” She thought about going to the cursed house but she suddenly remembered her dream. Someone or something is trying to keep her from going there, could it be Aamon? But why would he tell her where he was if he was trying to keep her away? Something strange was definitely going on and she was determined to find out what ______________ Aamon’s POV He gave a sad sigh. What did he expect, of course she’ll think he did it, nothing had ever hurt him more than the look of suspicion and distrust on her face. He was a vampire and obviously, he'd be her first suspect, He also had no clue of who was doing it and she was right, it all points to a vampire. Someone was clearly trying to set him up and he'll get to the bottom of it. He thought about her, he was so close to her today and she wasn't even afraid of him after telling her what he was, he listened to her heartbeat and it didn't increase, her heart still beat normally. Her scent lingered on him from sitting in her chair and he savored it. He thought about her laughter, it was like a melody to his ears, he had never heard such a beautiful sound since he got turned into a vampire. He had told her to meet him here, but would she really come? He wondered. Would she trust him enough to come to an abandoned house to see a vampire?“Laura?” He called gently as he stepped into the room. She was nowhere to be found and he had scoured the whole surrounding but there was no sign of her. He was beginning to get worried. Where could she had gone? Did she leave the house? Has Xander figured out where she was and gotten to her already? The thought of that made him sick to his stomach and angry. If Xander has already gotten to her and hurt her, then he couldn't just let it slide. He would get back at him, even if it's the last thing he does. Just as he was about to storm off, he heard her soft footsteps. Somehow he had memorized her footsteps, after only hearing it twice. She was coming in from the front gate and he felt panicked. He immediately went to the door just as she opened it. She jumped slightly when she saw him.“Oh, it's you.” She gasped as she held her chest. “Sorry, I'm still not used to you or this house.”“Where were you?” He asked, trying not to show how panicked he felt.“I went for a stroll. I don
“I won't do it!” Hadassah argued, a stubborn tilt to her chin. She had her arms crossed and a look on her face that shows she wasn't messing around.“Hadassah, sweetie, be reasonable…” Aamon was saying, but she interrupted him mid-sentence.“I'm being reasonable, that's why I'm telling you I don't want to lose my humanity just so I can get a crazed vampire off my back.”“You won't be losing your humanity entirely…” He tried to explain, but she cut in again, “I'm not giving up even if it's a tiny bit of my humanity. Suggest something else, this one is a big no.”She argued as she crossed her arms and a deep frown settled on her face. Aamon sighed in exasperation as he stared at her pouty face. He looked towards Abigail for help, but Abigail shrugged and he rubbed his face in exhaustion.“Hadassah, you said you didn't want to die and you don't want me to die.”“How does me being a vampire stops you from dying?” She asked with narrowed eyes. “Because if I'm the one to turn you, I wi
Hadassah was asleep and her mother watched over her as she slept. She caressed her hand gently as she watched her closed eyes. She looked paler and weaker with each passing day and Abigail wondered how long her daughter had left. Not long enough, according to the doctor. Losing her husband sent her world spiralling down, she wondered what losing her only child will do to her. She would probably not be able to handle the pain and might end up harming herself.Hadassah was the only reason she stayed alive and sane after losing her husband.Whenever she had bad thoughts, she would think of her daughter. ‘How would she cope with losing both parents in a short span of time? Would she forgive her for ending her own life?’Those questions kept her in check. She was practically living for her daughter's sake. And now it seems that might be pointless after all. The door opened gently and she looked up to find Aamon poke his head in before stepping inside. He greeted her before asking, whi
Larry stood in a pool of blood—the Ackerman’s blood—and shuddered slightly. At one corner, Xander slit the throat of Jonah Ackerman—the head of the Ackerman family— then wiped the blood on his tongue before shoving the dagger back in his pocket.“Tastes like shit.” He spat as he grimaced.“Are you telling me you've been tasting shit?” Larry teased.“Shut up, Larry.” Xander retorted as Larry chuckled. He tossed Jonah aside and stepped over him, before looking around and nodding in satisfaction. “That's everyone. We did good.” He said and Larry nodded in agreement.“Yeah. Boss man would be proud.”Larry stared at his bloody hands, and grimaced. The withering seemed to have slowed down and he couldn't help wondering what Aamon was up to. “I better go wash this off.”“Don't you mean you want to lick it off?” Xander teased.“I don't want to know what shit tastes like. Thanks but, no thanks, I'm good.” Larry teased back and when he saw Xander glaring at him, he added, while raising his h
“Someone paid all your hospital bills and they even paid in advance for as long as you are here.” She announced.Hadassah's face fell in disappointment but her mother's face lit up a bit. “Really? Who?” She asked.“The person requested they remain anonymous. I'm sorry, but we can't disclose who it is.” The doctor replied.Deep down, Hadassah already knew it was Aamon that did it. Who else would it be if it wasn't him? But why did he do it? She wondered.Though this was not the news she was hoping to hear, but she was at least grateful that the hospital bills is off her mother's neck. She turned to her mother and the knowing look on her face made her realize that her mother also knew it was Aamon. Her mother turned to the doctor and asked, “What about the donor? Are there any donors yet?”The doctor gave her a rueful look before shaking her head. “I'm sorry, not yet. But let's keep our fingers crossed, I have a feeling that we'll soon get a donor.”Hadassah sighed deeply while her mo
“Where are you coming from, Larry?” Liam's voice boomed suddenly, making him jump. How did Liam manage to remain so still that he didn't even sense him? He had thought he could sneak back in unnoticed, with the hope that Liam would have gone back to his house. He was, however, surprised to see that Liam had been waiting for him at the clan house.“Liam, you're still here?” He asked, trying to sound as casual as possible, but Liam was not buying it.“I believe I asked you a question first,” He responded, his expression colder than his tone.“Y—yes,” Larry suddenly found himself stammering and tried to calm himself down so Liam wouldn't see through him. “Y—you asked me to find out w—where Hadassah was…”“And it took you this long to do that?” Liam fired.“Yes! Actually, no. I felt sick. Look.” He raised his hands to show him. “I don't know what's happening to me, my hands are withering away and I've been feeling weak all day.”Liam's eyes widened as he saw his hands and he stood up and
