It was almost 8pm and Dominik had just showered. He was very exhausted after a long day with Aháva. He was sitting on his bed, on Skype with his wife and son, catching up on what went on while he is gone.

Carlos ran into the room.

“Quick, Dominik. Turn the TV on” he said with notable anticipation.

“What is going on?” Dominik got scared by Carlos' attitude. He left his laptop on the side, took the remote and turned the TV on. He had no clue what was going on.

“No, no, no” Carlos put his hands on his head.

“Carlos? What is happening?”

“God!” Muttered Carlos, suddenly falling, on Dominik's bed. Tears rolled down his cheeks.

Dominik felt chills all over his body, he turned up the volume and understood what was going on with Carlos.

“You can hear constant explosions. The Palestinian territory is under attack. The number of people missing rises over two thousand, almost 1600 deaths are estimated. Chaos has taken over the streets. This morning, a detonation happened near the Dome of Jerusalem, destroying a large portion of it. The rescue teams are working hard to identify the bodies of the deceased…”

The sound from Carlos' phone woke him. Dominik felt panic and terror take over. He understood. Samanta was in Palestinian territory and, last thing he knew, she was staying downtown, Charlotte told Carlos, and he told Dominik. That was the exact place the news were talking about.

“Yeah. I'm watching” Carlos's voice quivered. “What?” He covered his mouth to muffle a shrieking scream. He dropped his phone on the mattress and Dominik took it, trying to keep his composure.

“Charlotte?” He was the first person he could think of. Carlos was at the feet of the bed, crying, inconsolably. Dominik feared the worst.

“Dominik. Samanta is dead” said the voice on the other side of the line.

“What?”

The world stopped, air left his lungs and a strong dizziness made him stumble. When he was about to hit the ground, a pair of arms held him.

“Dominik! Sit” Carlos demanded. Dominik was in shock and his eyes were lost. Tears were pouring from his eyes. “Dominik? Do you hear me? Are you okay?”

What kind of question was that? Nothing was okay.

«No. I am not», thought Dominik, but no words came out from his mouth.

»Dominik. Please, answer me” Carlos insisted.

Dominik stood up carefully and walked to the window.

“Leave me alone” he asked with a trembling voice. His eyes, lost in the horizon.

“Are you sure? I can stay with you.”

Dominik raised his hand, shushing the voice with a gesture, that voice which, instead of calming him, made him more upset.

“Please, Carlos. Just go” he muttered without looking at him.

Carlos walked to Dominik and gave him a pat on his back, an unwelcome gesture. The recipient tried to avoid it, making it obvious he did not wish to be touched.

Samanta's face materialized in his mind. The eyes he would never again see, the skin he would never touch, the lips he would never kiss...

He could not bear.

Cry.

A desperate cry that dropped him to the ground.

He could not stop sobbing, harder each time.

In times, Dominik felt as though he would choke from his own tears.

He stood up and went to his bed. Anger took over him and, by impulse, he started throwing punches at the wall. The pain doubled. He saw his hand, blood was dripping down from his knuckles, but no physical pain could ever be compared to the pain in his heart.

He dropped himself on the bed and tears kept flowing down his cheeks.

I turned to the man who was talking to me. There was something in that voice that made me evoke a thousand memories. I looked at him carefully for a while, because although his face was very familiar to me, I couldn't place him. I opened my eyes like saucers and my heart stopped for a fraction of a second when I recognized the owner of those green eyes that were looking at me. In front of me was the personification of all my fears, traumas and insecurities. The man who served as a benchmark to compare all the people who came into my life after him. It was a beautiful vision, and at the same time a nightmare come true. “Antoine,” I said his name with difficulty. If the mere memory of him stirred up a lot of emotions in me, can you imagine “what his presence did to me?” The imposing figure of a six-foot-tall man lay before me. His eyes were greener than I remembered them and he had a beautiful smile (the one that brought out a couple of dimples in his cheeks) plastered on his face. He

I shook my head hard to concentrate on my friend's voice. She kept talking, but I stopped listening to her for a moment because I was thinking about Harvey, the gorgeous blond I met two months ago on one of my many girls' outings with Gabrielle, and who I started dating four weeks ago. He was divorced and had two young children. All my life I was reluctant to have anything with a man with children, because my policy was always: If I can buy a new car, ¿why buy a used one? This thought became ingrained in me as a result of living with my stepmother. It's not that our relationship was bad, but I remember a couple of times I tried to make her life miserable, just for fun. I was afraid that divine justice would take its toll on me for those years of rebellion and headaches I'd caused Valerie. But there was something about Harvey that appealed to me so much. He was very direct and upfront. When he approached me, he didn't do it with the typical cliché phrases that all men use to approac

She was silent, watching as that handsome man walked away. She didn't understand why she couldn't stop looking at him. She had seen handsome men many times. His father lived surrounded by them. Maybe h e was a lout a n d deserved every one of his mistreatment.Anyway, h e decided not t o think about it a n ymore. However, the blonde with green eyes could not do it, because she did not like the taste of tequila or a n y alcoholic beverage.
