Sophie's quick acknowledgment triggered a barely restrained fury in Cedric, evident in the twitch of his lips and the intensity of his gaze. His eyes blazed with resentment as he stared at her, his lips contorting into a strange smirk.

"You never wanted anything from me, did you, Sophie? Do you truly believe Austin can provide more than I can?" Cedric's voice dripped with sarcasm, his sinister smile sending shivers down Sophie's spine.

As Cedric's hand brushed against her abdomen, Sophie met his gaze with newfound loathing. "What others can offer is irrelevant. You are not fit to be the father of my child."

"So, you just let him die!"
