Valeria POV
I sat beside Adrain, who was drinking. It was human alcohol, so it won’t make him drunk, but he has drank a lot, staring at my mate in pure hate. Everything Ruby said is so true. Since my mate arrived, the ball has been a bit awkward. They all avoided going towards my mate pack, but I could see some of the pack members going towards other packs; I guess they found their mate. I looked at Adrian and sighed; he actually looked so angry, sucking in his teeth and folding his palm in a punch, but my mate, on the other hand, was sitting calmly, sipping his drink.
I guess now I know why he holds that title. He is calm; you can’t tell what is going on in his head. My mate is like a gentle smoke—a smoke that can cause a raging fire if not quenched. But Adrain, on the other hand, is allowing his emotions to get to him. Something I have learned while growing up in the pack is that people can use your anger against you; they can get into your head while being angry. It’s good to know how to control your temper.
“Now, it is time for the Alpha and Luna dance,” the announcer said softly through the microphone. I watched Adrian, Alpha, and Luna dance. I have no idea about that. What am I supposed to do in this situation? Adrain stood up, and he took my hand, talking me with him, and I tried my best to walk gracefully beside him. We stood by a podium, and I looked at the other alpha and luna coming to the centre of the hall. A soft music burst through the speakers, and they all got into their dancing positions. I smiled looking at them; they all looked so happy and in love. To them, only their mates matter; no other person is as exciting or beautiful as their mate.
Adrain and I continued standing. I had no clue what I was supposed to expect, but suddenly the hall was quiet. I looked around confused, but I saw my mate walking towards us. Why was this a surprise? He is just walking towards us. My mate stood below us, and he smiled softly.
“Can I have a dance, Milady?” he asked politely. People around us gaps, and I was so confused.
“No, she can’t,” Adrain snapped, holding my waist possesively. My mate smiled, nodding his head.
“Have you forgotten the rule you made? An alpha can choose to dance with your mate, and any Luna can also choose to dance with you,” he said. Adrain growled.
“Nobody has ever done that, though,” he snapped.
“Exactly, starting with me,” he said, looking at me. Then he stretched his hand towards me. My heart started beating fast as everyone waited for me to do something. If I accept his hand, Adrain hates me forever, but I get to dance with my mate, even if it’s only once. If I don’t accept it, Adrain would be happy and probably lean forward in taking me as his mate and also marking me, but it means I won’t ever get to have this moment with my mate, so I made my decision.
“I would love to dance with you,” I said, taking his warm hand. Everyone gasped in shock, but I was more focused on my mate’s warm smile. He carried me up from the podium softly, placing me on my feet, and the way he stared at me, I don’t care, it was worth it. He led me to the middle of the hall, and the lights went out, shining on us. I swallowed nervously. I don’t know how to dance.
“I am guessing you don’t know how to dance,” he said, chuckling. My cheeks hit up in embarrassment.
“I got you,” he said, smiling. I looked at him; no one had ever told me such words. I was a bit emotional. He bent down and unbuckled my heels, then I rested my hand on his muscular shoulders, removing my feet from the heels. He smiled, standing up.
“Now, trust me,” he whispered, carrying me up, and my feet were on his, my arms around his neck, and his around my waist, and slowly he moved. I might be standing on his feet, but I wasn’t yet up to his height. He stared down at me, his beautiful cobalt eyes glowing brightly.
“So, what is your name, pretty flower?” he asked. I blushed hard at the name.
“Valeria,” I said. He smiled.
“Valeria,” he said, and I don’t think I would ever love someone calling my name. My body was tingling, my stomach buzzing with joy, and my wolf was jumping around in excitement. This was an unexplainable moment, and I was determined to make the best of it.
“So, what pack are you from?” he asked softly.
“Down south pack,” I answered, staring into his cobalt eyes. His lips formed into an o, and I can’t explain how adorable he looks; he looks innocent for his reputation.
“I didn’t know Alpha Julius had another daughter,” he said, not directly at me. I smiled. I bet no one here knows he has two daughters. My father has never claimed me as his until he wanted to sell me off to Alpha Adrain, but I learned to ignore it. There was no use calling me his daughter if he wouldn’t treat me as one. My mate and I continued dancing. I got the hold of the rhythm and the soft jazz playing, and I laid my head on his chest, taking in his scent.
This was the most magical moment of my life. I forgot who I was, what I am, where I am, and the title I hold. I was just a girl with her soulmate. But as they say, all good things come to an end; the music slows down, reaching the ending; my mate draws back, carrying me up and twirling me in the air; and I did my best to hold in my giggle. He dropped me on the floor, following the beat, and the music came to an end. Also, the lights shine in their full glory.
I looked at the crowd nervously, but I was left surprised as they burst into loud claps and cheers. I chuckled, looking at my mate, who in turn smiled at me and picked up my heels, wearing them for me.
“That was an amazing dance,” he said, taking my hand and placing a kiss on my palm like a true gentleman. I shivered at the touch of his lips on my hand. I can’t believe how crazy the mate bond is; the electrics and shivers were over the board, like it wanted us to mate right here. The hall suddenly went silent, and I looked around, confused.
My smile dropped greatly as Adrain walked towards us. He wasn’t happy, obviously; his eyes raged, and he was controlling his wolf from coming out. Fear washed over me as I stayed rooted to my spot. Adrain shared no words with my mate or me; instead, he took my hand, dragging me away with him. I struggled to keep my pace with him, my gown entering in between my legs. I bit my lips in pain as my legs tripped continuously on my heels, hurting my ankle.
“The ball has come to an end; please vacate the hall.” That was the last thing I heard before Adrain dragged me out of the hall. I couldn’t even look back to look at my mate once; just like that, my magical night came to an obvious end.
Valeria POVI looked outside the window, feeling pain all over my body. How long has it been? I can’t say, but right now I wish my life would come to an end. I thought I had it bad before, but obviously I didn’t. I had freedom; people avoided me, but I wore good clothes and ate what I wanted to. I was happy even with how I lived. But now it’s the opposite: I am isolated, bruised, starved, and locked up in this cold, tight room with just one tiny window allowing me to see the outside world.I thought Adrain was a bit different; he wasn’t like my parents; he gave me freedom and allowed me to eat as I wanted; although his pack avoided me, they didn’t talk badly about me or whisper harsh words as I passed. He was kind to me the night of the ball; he looked at me like he would look at any other person, but I didn’t know he was a monster. That night, I got to see the devil's side of him; he was burning with rage.I shivered, remembering how his wolf took control over his body, running at me
Valeria POV I heard the doors open as I lay down on the floor, my back turned against the door. The guards walked to me, and they gently removed the chains from me. It has been three days since I went to see Adrain and Ruby, and I was taken back here to my cell. I have been staring at the wall ever since, expecting my death. The guards helped me up, and I was super confused. Were they not the ones who pulled me harshly a few days ago? Dragging me on the floor gave me more injuries, so what changed? “That is enough; leave,” I heard the familiar voice. I looked up, and Collin stood in front of me. He looked at me disgusted, and I looked at him right back. “We have an unexpected visitor. Go to your room, freshen up, and come down for dinner. Also, make sure to hide your bruises. Alpha’s order,” he said, turning around and leaving. I stood there for a minute, a visitor? Surely this visitor must be an important one for Adrain to want me to meet them; he did introduce me as his mate durin
Valeria POVWe were done with dinner, and I sat still waiting for the Adrain command. I looked at him from under my lashes, and he dropped his fork.“We were not aware of your arrival, so we did not prepare for your accommodation. The omegas are cleaning the guest room; in the meantime, you will stay on the 3rd floor. It is well cleaned, and your bags are there in the rooms waiting for you. The 3rd floor belongs to my Luna, and I am sure she doesn’t mind you temporarily staying there,” he said, and I felt eyes on me. But I was happier because I am closer to my mate, although I don’t know if he came for me or for the rogues.“The omegas would show you to the floor; please follow them,” he said.“Thank you, Alpha Adrain, for your accommodation and dinner,” my mate said, standing up. I looked up a bit as they all walked out, following the omega. Adrain folded his fist in anger, watching them as they left, and he waited for them to leave before talking.“I wonder why he is here; he has ne
Valeria POVI walk around the pack, smiling brightly. My life has been going perfectly ever since Damien came, which was about three weeks ago. Adrain has totally forgotten about me; he and Damien are more fixed on dealing with the rogues, but at night Damien makes special time to give his mate attention. I have never been so happy being in the arms of my mate, listening to him talk about all his experiences about being an Alpha son and taking his father’s spot. They all sounded like bedtime stories, and of course, what is a bedtime story without bedtime cuddles?Things are going well between us, but we are both avoiding asking each other the right questions. He is curious about what Adrain did to me and why I sometimes struggle to eat food. I know he wants to ask; he just doesn’t want to push me or make me overwhelmed. Honestly, I want to tell him, but I am scared of his reaction. What if he attacks Adrain? I don’t care about Adrain, but I don’t want any pack wars. I just want things
Valeria POV“Who’s getting on your nerves?” Damien asked, dragging me up softly. I smiled breathlessly. He is just so handsome, his milky skin glowing with sweat.“It’s just my sister and Adrain,” I mumbled, trying to calm my racing heart. I don’t know why my heart always races whenever I see him; I can’t control it.“I heard them,” he said. I looked at him, surprised.“How are you able to hear them from so far away?” I asked, shocked. It’s normal for Alpha’s to have enhanced abilities, especially if their parents are from a lineage of Alpha’s or Beta’s families. But he was too far from us to hear that. “Well, I will let you in on a little secret,” he said, smiling. My heart swooned as his dimples came to life, elevating his smile. Why would the moon goddess create such a masterpiece? And all for me? I am the luckiest wolf in the world. He got closer to me, and I was literally holding my breath. I felt hot. A sexy, half-naked man is standing so close to me.“I come from a generation
Valeria POV“How do you know how to make hair so perfectly?” I asked, smiling at the mirror. We were in the night, and Damien offered to wash and style my hair, and he is so good at it. The way he washed my hair was very gentle, scrubbing through my scalp. I was almost falling asleep in the bathroom, enjoying the soft massage.“My sister made me do it,” he said, a soft smile on his face. I smiled. I remembered Collin mentioning something about his sister in the ball.“It must be nice to have a younger sister who loves you back,” I said, remembering my ill-fated relationship with my younger sister.“Well, we had the best brother-sister relationship,” he said, a sour smile on his face. I noticed he used the past tense.“Had?” I asked, looking at how he made my hair.“Yes, she is dead now,” he replied. I looked up at him, and he looked a bit down. It’s obvious that his sister is a sour topic, and I had no idea how to comfort him. I didn’t grow up with many people around, so I don’t know
Valeria POVI slammed Ruby on the wall harshly, blocking air from passing through her lungs. I wanted to kill her; I wanted this night to be the last day she would live, and the last day she would ask me to do something so evil. How dare she, after all they did to me, ignore me and sell me off? She is asking me to run away. She wants to take over my identity. The only thing I have left that is mine—the audacity to do that! Ruby trashed around in my hand, her face turning red, but I squeezed harder, not caring how she scratched my hand.“That is enough,” I heard a voice say, holding my hand. But I didn’t listen; I squeezed harder.“You are going to get her killed,” Damien said, forcing my hand away from her neck. I growled, but he held me tight, moving me away from Ruby.“Calm down,” he whispered in my ears, hugging me tight, but I trashed his arms, angry and hurt. How dare she tell me that to my face? I have feelings too. Why should I bear the blame for something I have no control ove
Valeria POVA loud growl woke me up from my sleep. I jerked awake, looking around me, and nothing was happening. I heard another growl with things breaking, and it seemed the noise was coming from the down floor. Panicking, I come down from the bed, wearing my slippers. I ran out of my room, heading to the down floor. There was nobody on the stairs, and I was scared. Hoping is not what I think it is. I got to the bottom floor, and I gasped loudly at the whole place, which was messed up. The pack members stood away from the two Alphas’s fighting.“How dare you touch what is mine?” Adrian raged, punching my mate harshly in the jaw. I gasped, anger and fear rushing through my veins as my mate fell to the floor, bleeding out. Adrain wasn’t done; he had all the intention of killing my mate, and I wasn’t going to stand there and watch. Adrian raised his claw, going for my mate’s opened chest. But I ran to my mate, my body full of anger. I have no idea what happened, but Adrain flew into th
Valeria POVSo many grunting, groaning, swords clashing later, Lux was still standing on her feet. Blood all over her body. She stood away from us, her sword out as she tried to catch her breath. I wasn’t even tired; I must say she put up a good fight. She definitely lasted longer than I would have imagined; it was nice to see her still fit after so many years. But she knows this is a fight she won’t win.“Give it up, Lux,” I said, looking at her. She chuckled dryly.“Nice to see I haven’t lost my touch. I had some hits,” she said, looking at all of us. She is right; her sword cut into my arm, and that is all. Everyone has injuries too, but just in a few places. But for her, it’s all over her body. She almost got beheaded by Dmitri; she moved out in a millisecond. “You are already dead,” I said. She smirked.“Not if I have something to say about it,” she said, running to me with speed, aiming for my neck. I could tell she put all her remaining energy into that run; she already knew s
Valeria POVI walked inside the pack house, heading to the conference room and before I got there, I could hear them discussing. I entered the conference room, and it was a full house. I have never seen so many Lycans together before.“Just the wolf we were waiting for,” Dmitri said as I walked in. He looked the same as he was, not much different. “Sorry I kept you all waiting,” I said, smiling at Damien.“She apologies,” Dmitri said, with heavy sarcasm. I turned to him.“How are you doing, Dmitri?” I asked. He smiled.“I am the same as ever. I can’t say about you though,” he said. I gave him a long look, breathing out. I really don’t have strength for his energy.“Did you tell him everything?” I asked Damien. He nods his head.“Yes,” he replied. I turned to all the men.“So, I’m guessing you all understand,” I said. “Yes, we do. But I hope you know killing Lux is going to affect the moon goddess,” he said. I nod my head.“She deserves it; I blame her for everything that’s happening
Valeria POVI got back to the pack, and I headed to the dungeon.“How is he doing?” I asked Collin.“He has gone crazy; he keeps growling and scratching his neck. I tried to stop him, but he is strong and needs more than one wolf to tame him,” he said. And before I got to Adrain, I could hear his loud growling.“Are you with his phone?” I asked.“Yes, it’s with me,” he replied, and I nodded my head. We got to the dungeon, and of course, only he was here. He was rolling on the floor, growling at everyone and everything.“Open the gate,” I said. Collin looked at me wearily, but opened it, anyway. I entered the cell, and he was still rolling on the floor, trying to get rid of his mark.“Adrain,” I called, and immediately he tensed up. His muscles moved, and slowly, he turned around. At first, he looked like a crazy animal, with no ounce of humanity behind those eyes, but when his eyes fixed on me, he became normal. He fell to the floor, crying out.“What have you done?” he cried out. I r
Valeria POVI continued sprinting to Damien’s pack, and when I got near his pack, I was jumping on the censor so they knew I was coming. When I got to the pack, I saw the guards and Dante looking at me from the walls, and they were shocked. I can’t mind link them as I am no longer in this pack. I moved back, then I ran with all speed, growling as I tried to jump off the high wall. The warriors all yelled, causing a commotion as I jumped over the wall, landing on my paws.“Valeria? What’s going on?” Dante asked, running to me. I howled, ignoring him and running to the pack. Dante shifted, running after me. I know he was trying to catch up, but I was in momma bear mode. It was late at night, and I was worried about my son. Who did Titus send to take him? How are they even going to take him in this pack filled with security? Dante growled behind me, and I hoped he was talking to Damien. I continued running, ignoring people’s yells of surprise as I passed them. After a few minutes, I was
Valeria POVA horror filled scream left Daus lips and before he could run to his mom, I blocked him, carrying him out of the room. He fought with me, screamed and scratched me to let him go but I was barely affected. I took him to his room, dropping him on the bed and I stared at him blankly. I’m sorry you had to see that Daus, no child deserves that, but your momma is evil. She definitely didn’t think of my son and what he would go through if I was dead because no way would I live with that bastard mark on my neck.“Daus,” I called. “Mommy, I want my mommy,” he cried out loudly. I sat on his bed, carrying him on my lap and petting his back softly.“I’m sorry,” I said, not sorry for what happened to Ruby. I am just sorry he has to see that and live without a mom and possibly a dad.“Mommy,” he cried. I pulled back, and I sighed.“Sleep,” I commanded. He blinked his eyes repeatedly, looking all drowsy. And slowly, he fell into my arms, passed out. I sighed, patting his back softly.“I
Valeria POVAdrain trashed around on the bed, trying to get the mark off him, but he can’t undo what I already did. The only thing he was doing was getting blood on my white sheet, which annoyed the fuck out of me. But I wasn’t worried; he would have to wash that later. My door burst open, and I turned to look; it was Ruby. She rushed in with urgency, looking around, and her eyes widened when she saw Adrain trashing on the bed. She probably thought it was me screaming.“You thought it was me?” I asked, sitting on the comfortable sofa not so far from the bed. She turned to me, and her eyes widened in shock.“What did you do to him?” she snapped, looking at Adrian in shock. A soft laughter left my lips at what she said.“What did I do to him?” I asked. She looked at Adrian, running to him and trying to keep him from hurting himself, but he pushed her away. He is mine now; his loyalty lies with me.“What did you do to him, you bitch?” she yelled. Anger rose deep within me as I looked at
Valeria POV“Are you enjoying Daddy’s Pack?” I asked Egan with a small smile on my face.“Yes, Daddy Pack is the best,” he said, moving all around the phone. I could just tell Damien was holding the phone, and Egan was walking all around talking.“I am glad. Have a goodnight rest. Mommy missed you but would see you soon,” I said.“How soon?” he asked, his voice louder. Now he is closer to the phone. “Very soon. Make sure you sleep early. Don’t sleep past bedtime, and also don’t disturb Daddy too much,” I said.“Okay!” he yelled, still so active. I sighed; he is definitely sleeping past his bedtime. Damien chuckled.“How are you doing?” he asked. I smiled.“I am the same,” I said.“Have you started working on what you said?” he asked.“No, I haven’t informed the warriors about the war yet; I would like to talk to Dmitri first. Then we can get everything in motion,” I said. “Okay, when you are ready to just keep me updated,” he said, and I smiled, nodding my head. I hung up the phone,
Valeria POVI got to my pack, entered the pack house, and I was welcomed with Adrain, Ruby, and Daus sitting on the couch watching a movie. They looked like a family, just chilling on the couch, having some family time. Of course, I didn’t inform anyone of my arrival; I asked the guards to keep it very low key. I guess I just wanted to see what was happening when I was not around. And this confirms what Egan was saying.“Hey guys,” I said, smiling widely as I entered my living room. They turned to me, a look of shock on their faces, and Ruby jolted away from Adrain, dusting her body shakily.“V.valeria, you are back,” she said, her voice sounding high-pitched. I smiled.“Yes, I’m back. I got you all some gifts,” I said, bringing the bags up. They smiled, and I walked to the kitchen with them following me.“Where are you coming from?” Adrain asked. I placed the bags on the counter, looking at him. “Went on a little errand,” I said, bringing out all the gifts.“And where is Egan?” he a
Valeria POVI frowned at her as she cackled evilly. She may look like me, but she is nothing like me. She is evil.“Moon goddess created you to save the wolves, not try to overthrow her,” I snapped. She looked at me, her eyes nothing but dark. How did I not notice this the first time I saw her? The dark energy I felt was all from her. She has been locked up here for so long that her anger and frustration keep getting worse. How can someone have this much rage?“That was truly her goal of creating me, but then I desired something more,” she said. I chuckled.“She is your creator; how can you desire something more? How can you put everyone at risk? Everything going on right now is all your fault, and you dare still desire more?” I asked. She smiled, going back to where she was seated.“She is a coward; she would have saved the wolves if she wanted to, but no, she wanted to be a goddess. Seat on her throne all day and had her little minions do everything for her; she is supposed to prote
