Chapter 37 (Shift)

Valeria POV

I lay on the floor, covered in sweat. It felt like I was inside scorching fire; my body ached, and I was in so much pain. I was just on the floor, my bones weak. I tried to move my hand but couldn’t move a muscle; my bones keep breaking at unnatural angles, and I have lost my voice from screaming so much.

“Now I know why we shift so early. Our bones are still young; the pain won’t be as much as now when we are older,” Carlos said. They have been watching me, all with worried faces.

“It’s been hours,” Dante said. I closed my eyes, hot tears falling down my face. I can’t take this anymore. Damien walked towards me, bending down to my height.

“I think all your bones have been broken and fixed back to the spot; it is left for your wolf to complete the shift,” he said, removing my hair from my sticky face. I looked at him, and I know he can read my thoughts. I need water—a really cold one.
