Chapter 7: Dealing With Another God

"It is nice to see you again, Yeojoon ssi–," Morpheus mused whilst smiling gently from the other side of the screen. Then while propping his arms on the desk, supporting his chin with the palm of his hand. He adds,"–Or should I say, Dionysus, Sire?"

There was silence from Yeojoon's side. Shellshocked and completely thrown off balance with the way he blinks, eyes wide open, as he remembers those scrolls in boxes from that elevator scene when they first met. Those were suggestions for dreams? Or, perhaps, complaints about frequent nightmares?

"Oh." He finally says. Ignoring the imminent confusion coming from Damon who, by now, is still confused on how his liege and the other god had met when they both have not stepped on Olympus. Yeojoon's mind cannot link a single thing together right now. He sighs and drapes a palm on his forehead, as if, checking his brain if it had overheated from his thinking or not.

Morpheus playfully twirls his chair, humming a soft tune to the melody of It's A Small World After All. With a voice deep and melodic, he says," To what do I owe this honor, Yeojoon ssi?" He smiles. That signature boxy smile. Putting on his red rimmed glasses and began to tap on his grey-colored table. "As much as I am fond of you, I am a very busy man."

Behind where the god of dreams is seated is a beige wall and two open windows that show the view of stars, galaxies, and random objects that are supposed to not be there, like boxes of chocolates the size of the moon, a statue of an angel floating around the windowsill, a decapitated robot, are those human bones?—,  crumpled paper, and a lot more bizzare stuff. Surprisingly, it is quiet and calm despite the amount of random rubbish from whichever space the god was.

Finally, someone cleared their throat. The hiss of a chair being dragged so suddenly echoes in the room. That someone was Damon who stood up, bowed at Yeojoon and at the screen. "Sire, if it needs be, I will give you both the privacy to speak and wait outside the door." If anything happens, he wants to say. Morpheus is someone he has never encountered yet until now so if he plans anything suspicious, he'll simply be at close call.

"Ah.." Yeojoon trails off, thinking about the suggestion. A little god-to-god personal conversation would not hurt, right? He nods at Damon. "Thank you, Damon. You can go and rest.—" Then, with a sly smile, he adds,"–maybe Wraith is already cuddling your own pillows at this point since you're not there."

"If you say so, Sire. I take my leave."

Damon's felt his cheeks heat up, turning his entire face red as he bows once more and stormed off. Much to Yeojoon's amusement. He tsks and shakes his head before returning his focus on the screen. Morpheus was silently watching them with glowing curiosity— more like, the god was watching him. Yeojoon. Observing him intently. Or whatever it was.

"Yeah, sorry about that." Yeojoon blinks, straightening his back as he looked back at the other god. "I would like to ask a question regarding my.. dreams.. these days."

Morpheus' eyes glowed an iridescent yellow as he beams, almost jumping from his chair like an excited child, clapping his hands in what seemed to be triumph. The wine god merely cocks his head in confusion.

"Ah, sorry—" Morpheus smiles sheepishly, "–Do go on."

"Uhm.. Okay. So, there was this face in my dream." It was a beautiful face, he wants to add, but he decided not to. "I was having a bout of nightmares and suddenly, they appeared.. Twice, even. They have this bright amber eyes and red lips. It was d—"

"Were they handsome? Beautiful?" Morpheus interrupts with interest, taking Yeojoon aback.

"...Yes?"

"Okay, good. Continue, dear god."

"—It was dark so I couldn't see them fully in the first dream. The second one was far clearer than the initial one. I.. We were in this field of full of different flowers. I was laying on their lap and we were happy? That's where I realized the face was a He. A man. And—" Once more, Yeojoon gets interrupted.

"Does that bother you? That they are a man?" Morpheus quips, raising a brow as he leaned back on his chair, which had morphed into a "lazy-boy" type.

The question made Yeojoon purse his lips. Does it matter what gender the person is? Hmm, no. No. Besides, he just wants to know their name. It's not like he's truly interested or anything.

"No. It's fine, I guess. I mean, why would I be bothered?" This answer made Morpheus grin. Like he had succeeded at something Yeojoon could not truly comprehend just yet.

"My apologies for the interruption. Do continue, Yeojoon."

"I was just wondering. Because I have never met such person before in my life, how could I have dreamed of him in such.." Intimate? Sweet? Romantic scene? "—In such a situation where we seem to be," In love? Yeojoon wants to shoot the voice in his head so it would shut up so suddenly. "— we seem to be.. close."

"I see." Morpheus nods and tapped his fingers on the table surface. The screen flickers ans glitches every now and then. "And where do I fit in this little dilemma of yours, Yeojoon ssi?" His tone felt like it was teasing, drawing out his words like he's talking a toddler.

Yeojoon purses his lips before speaking. Knowing full well what words he wants to say. He cleared his throat and looked at the screen. Who was he ? He wants to say.

To ask or not to ask, that is the question.

"Did you do it?" Came out of his lips, eyes trained upon Morpheus. Unblinking and focused.

"Do what, Yeojoon?"

"The dream. The guy in the dream. Did you do it?"

Morpheus was not smiling. In fact, he was straightfaced and yet there was a ghost of amusement in his eyes. Like a melody he cannot quite hear because of how faint it sounds.

"And what about it?"

"Who are they?" Finally, he said it. The question that's been lingering in his mind. Bugging him everytime he closes his eyes. The image of their face, no matter how blurry the details were, was seared into his brain.

"Why do you wanna know?"

"I'm just curious."

"Then I'm not telling you."

Yeojoon scowls, leaning his back on his chair with an, "Oh, c'mon! It's always on my mind, it bugs me in my sleep—" He runs his hand through his hair. "—just, give me the name, Morpheus." He sighs, exasperatedly.

"Not until you tell me why you wanna know."

"Fine. He is intriguing. That's all." He admits, trying not to roll his eyes. Morpheus only raised his brow. "And— and he's.. handsome, I guess."

"Great! They're nice, too. And! They know how to cook." Morpheus' mood flicked like a switch, looking very much like a doting friend with his face beaming with pride. His hands were clasped together, pressed on his left cheek as he grins. "That wasn't hard to say, wasn't it?"

Yeojoon was speechless, of course. Mouth slightly ajar as he asks himself with pure confusion. What have I gotten myself into?

"Okay.... May I know their name now?"

"Nope."

Huh?

Once again, Yeojoon was confused. He drew his chair closer to the table and frowned at Morpheus. "I thought that was the deal?"

"You haven't offered anything, my dear god." Morpheus, in his lazy boy chair,  laughs whilst twirling a golden pen in his fingers. One that he has summoned, perhaps, or one he randomly thought of making— or it is an illusion.

An offer? He has nothing to offer. He's not from Olympus anymore. His blessings are merely for humans, are gods even allowed to be given blessings? Wait— Wine! Of course! How could he be so slow?

"I'll offer you wine for eternity. That is all I have in my power. Do we have a deal?"

Morpheus stares right into the screen, like he was really there in front of him, like he was testing his worthiness, weighing his skills, and assessing his integrity. After what a full minute, he smiles and nods.

"Deal."

Yeojoon suddenly had the urge to jump on his chair and yell YES! and, maybe, punch the air. But that is for another day or, perhaps, when he has reached his room where no one can see him.

"And the name?"

"About that.." Morpheus trails off, propping both elbows on the table whilst supporting his chin with his hands. "there is one more thing.."

This is really gonna take long, huh? He sighs.

Dammit.
