(Alessio's POV)

The ray of sunlight penetrated my face as I tried to open my eyes. Fully opening them, I discovered I was in the hospital, which only reminded me that I had been shot.

Who dared to shoot at me? I thought to myself as anger surged through my system, but the soft snoring I heard made me squint. My eyes moved to my right, and I saw Lisa sleeping. Her head was resting on the bed while her body was seated in the chair.

Did she spend the entire night with me?

I tried not to smile, but a grin ended up appearing on my face. Somehow, my smile crept out every time Lisa was with me. I sat up in bed, raised my hand, and gently placed it on her head, caressing her hair softly. She stirred slightly and opened her eyes.

I stopped smiling and withdrew my hand. Lisa lifted her head from the bed, and her eyes sparkled with joy at seeing me.

Was she really that happy I was awake? Before I could read her thoughts through her eyes, she sprang up from the bed and hugged me.

Did she just hug

(Alessio's POV) "Where's Lisa?" I asked Ivan when I arrived back at the house. I had discharged myself from the hospital despite the doctors insisting I stay longer. I had just undergone surgery, but I turned a deaf ear to their medical advice. "She’s in your suite, waiting for you. She’s been worried about you," Ivan replied. I knitted my brows at the mention of her worrying about me. Shouldn’t she be the last person to worry about me, considering how much she hated me? I guess she’s just feeling guilty about what happened. Taking a deep sigh, I asked, "Has she eaten?" "Not yet, boss. She said she’d eat only if she sees you." I nodded and dismissed Ivan. Entering my suite, I found Lisa pacing around the room, worry evident on her face. She wasn’t aware of my presence. "Why haven’t you eaten?" I asked, making myself known. Her eyes darted to me, and she quickly rushed over. "Why did you leave the hospital like that? Do you know how dangerous it was?" she asked.

(Alessio's POV) "Do you want to come with me? I can take you somewhere you'd have a good life and be free from the abuses of your stepfather," Rosita spoke in Italian to a young girl covered in bruises. I had tracked her location, and right now, she was in a restaurant, talking to a girl, unaware that I was sitting just a seat away from her. "Really? You can help me?" The girl’s voice trembled with sadness. "I want to escape from my stepdad. He abuses me and rapes me daily." Rosita placed her hand gently over the girl's, offering an innocent smile. She must have charmed Lisa with that façade. With that sweet, unassuming face, she could easily make anyone believe she was harmless. But in reality, she was nothing but a despicable woman who trafficked girls for money. "Yes. I am going to take you somewhere. They're going to treat you nicely, and you will have a good life with them," Rosita assured her. "Then take me with you. I want to go with you," the girl blurted, unaware of

(Alessio's POV) "Why aren't you saying anything, Lisa?" Isabella's voice stopped me from opening the door to Lisa's room. "Nothing happened, Isa," Lisa answered. "You're lying to me. I know something did happen. You weren't in this house for two days, and Ivan brought you back home with a stab on your stomach. I'm sure something happened, and you just don't want to tell me," Isabella pressed on. "Nothing happened, Isabella. Alessio took me out, and that's why I was away for two days. The stabbing was just an accident," Lisa grinned. When I had rushed Lisa to the hospital after she stabbed herself, no one in the house knew about it. The house was just too big for anyone to notice things, and the maids had limits on how they moved around. "He took you out?" Isabella paused for a moment and then continued, "Then does that mean you know the exit of this house?" Her tone was laced with curiosity as I lingered close to hear Lisa's answer. There was a swift silence before Lisa spoke.

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Handsome monster

(Lisa's POV) It’s been two weeks since the whole drama unfolded. Although I’ve told him countless times that I wasn’t going to escape like I always do, he still doesn't’ believe me. I can’t blame him, though, because I’ve tried every possible means to escape from him. I’ve been doing my best to get to know him, and in the few times we’ve spoken, I’ve come to realize that he isn’t fully the monster I had labeled him to be. He is caring when it comes to me. Should I take back my words about calling him a monster, or should I call him a handsome monster? I thought to myself, grinning. “What’s making you smile?” Vanessa and Isabella interrupted my thoughts. I snapped back to reality, realizing they were both in the room with me. We were eating together because I had said so. “Nothing,” I smiled at them, but Isabella gave me a suspicious look. “Something is fishy about you,” she said, her eyes glued to mine. “What’s fishy about me?” I muttered. “You look happier these days,

(Lisa's POV) "You want to touch my chest?" he asked, his voice soft, sending a thudding sensation through my chest. I nodded slowly, my cheeks heating with a blush. It felt weird to ask such a thing from him, but I had seen him shirtless a couple of times and always wondered how it would feel in my palms. I never asked because I hated him. But now, I don’t think I hate him the way I used to. This handsome monster almost died because of me—there's no reason to hate him anymore. That’s why I’ve made up my mind to stay with him. "There are going to be consequences for touching my chest, Lisa," he whispered into my ear, his fresh breath fanning my face. Goosebumps erupted on my skin. "What kind of consequences?" I asked in a low voice, but he still heard me. "You already know what I want, right?" he murmured. I knew exactly what he wanted—to have sex with me. But I pushed him away slightly, my face still flushed. "I don’t know what you want," I teased. "Has anyone told yo

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Drunk confession

(Alessio's POV) "I thought you had forgotten about your dad's death anniversary, and that's why I decided to call you," an elderly woman said to me as she poured me a drink. She is my mother's sister. "No, I didn't," I replied, emptying the glass she had poured for me. When I told Lisa to come see me in my suite, I intended to tell her I wouldn't be home on time, but I got distracted; I can't resist her when she is close to me. It's still unbelievable that she allowed me to touch her. If not for my aunt's call, we would have been having steamy sex right now. "How have you been?" she asked with a smile, and I merely nodded. I kept in touch with her from time to time because she was the only one who felt remorseful about what her sister did to my dad. Even after my dad was buried, she wanted to take me with her. She did all she could, but Salvatore wouldn't allow her to take me, stating that I was the next mafia boss of the DeLuca family. After much effort, she gave up,

(Lisa's POV) "I think I am falling in love with you." Those words echoed in my ear, and I sprang up from the bed with a loud scream. I sat up, my eyes scanning the whole room. I had slept in Alessio's room, which meant that everything that happened last night wasn't a dream. I slapped him more than three times across the face. My heart thudded in my chest at the thought of what he might do to me for slapping him. What troubled my heart even more were the words I had told him last night. What if he takes it seriously? "You always mess up whenever you're drunk, Lisa!" I scolded myself, slapping my face repeatedly and tugging at my hair at the same time. He wasn't in his bedroom, which meant this was the perfect time to leave. I can't face him right now, especially after making such a silly confession—and the worst part was that I had slapped him. I slapped a mafia boss! Getting out of bed, I quickly left his suite and began rushing to mine. But as I entered my room, I almost sc

(Alessio's POV) After much thought, I decided to give Lisa back her phone because I wanted to try my best to trust her words about not escaping from me. It’s been a few weeks, and she hadn’t made an attempt to run away, despite knowing the exit. Giving her a chance to speak to her dad wouldn’t be a bad idea for her efforts. “You miss your dad, right? You should call him,” I said, smiling deeply, just to convince her I was serious about it. Tears fell from her eyes as she stared at her phone. “I didn’t know this was with you. I... I thought I lost it on the day you brought me to Italy.” I felt happy she didn’t use the word ‘kidnapped’ like she had always done. “Ivan gave it to me. I’ve kept it under my custody since then.” “Why are you giving it to me now?” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “You miss your dad, don’t you?” She nodded, sniffling. “Then talk to him and see how he’s doing,” I muttered. • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Seeking for revenge

(Alessio's POV) "Really? I'm the most important person in your life?" she asked with a smile, her face turning red. I hadn't intended to say that out loud. I felt compelled to respond because she kept insisting that the sex we had were meaningless. How could it be meaningless? I didn't just have sex with her, I made love to her. When she confronted me about where she stood in my life and what she meant to me, I was almost tempted to tell her how much I loved her. But I held back, which is why I chose to walk away from her instead of expressing my true feelings. It's so hard for me to say those three words to her, even though I know I'm madly in love with her. It feels pointless to say it. Whenever I think about my dad and how he was killed by the woman he always confessed his feelings to, it weighs me down. It's not like Lisa could do the same thing my mom did, but I just didn’t want to tell her how I felt. Maybe it’s because I’m still traumatized by what happened to my dad.

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Professional liar

(Lisa's POV) I stood by the window in my room, watching the men on guard. Though my eyes were fixed on them, my mind wasn't. My heart still ached from Alessio's behavior. How he had walked out on me, not caring how I’d feel, replayed in my mind, adding to the sadness I was already feeling. If I had my way, I wouldn’t think about it, but the memory of him leaving continued to haunt me, even when I tried not to dwell on it. Was it wrong to ask where I stood in his life? He couldn't just have sex with me whenever he wanted and expect me not to question what kind of relationship we had. Some of the men who spotted me bowed with smiles, but I didn't wave at them as I used to because my heart was heavy with pain. My phone rang, and when I picked it up from the table, I saw it was my dad calling. I quickly wiped the tears from my eyes before answering. “Dad!” I said, ensuring I sounded cheerful so he wouldn’t ask why I was sad. I wouldn’t even know what to tell him, because all

(Writer's POV) Bianca had her leg crossed over the other as she waited for someone at the far end of the bar. She entertained herself with a cigarette, losing her patience as she waited for the man she was supposed to meet. "Another bottle of vodka," she ordered a waiter who quickly brought it to her. She gulped it down in one go and returned to smoking. Having lived like a gangster for more than a decade, she was used to drinking and could withstand alcohol no matter her intake. "Why the heck is he wasting time?" she fumed. She took her phone from her bag, and just as she was about to call him, he showed up in front of her. "Hi, Bianca," he grinned. "What the heck took you so long?" she growled. "You're not the only one who pays me for an assignment, Bianca," he replied, sitting in the chair across from her. "Were you able to see the woman Don Alessio came with at the party?" Bianca asked, puffing out a cloud of smoke. "Yes, I did. I was one of the security guards the

(Lisa's POV) I felt the aching in my head as my eyes slowly opened. The blood coming from my head mixed with my skin. Even with my eyes open, I couldn't see clearly until I heard the massive horn of a train coming from a distance, with its light shining from afar. My eyes widened in shock as I realized I was in a tunnel where trains normally pass by. I was lying on the tracks. How the heck did I end up here? Then I recalled how someone had struck a baton against my head, leaving me unconscious. Who on earth could have brought me here? This thought ran through my mind a thousand times in a row. The sound of the train grew louder, signaling that I needed to get out of here if I didn’t want to be crushed by it. I tried to stand up, only to discover I couldn't move my feet. My feet were tightly bound together, making it impossible to move them, let alone stand. As the train's horn got louder, fear gripped me. I kept struggling to stand, but it was futile; I couldn't loosen t

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Crushed by a train

(Alessio's POV) If only she knew I had said that just to protect her, she wouldn't have been so mad at me. I couldn't possibly tell Vincenzo that she is the woman I love. Saying that to him would mean risking her life more than I already have. I haven't even found the strange caller who claims to be watching my every move, and if I had told Vincenzo that Lisa is the woman I love, it would have spread around the hall. They already believe I'm someone who doesn't have a heart. It's not that I can't protect her, but I didn't want her life to become a nightmare because of me. Saying she was no one to me meant no one would pay much attention to her. Isabella will definitely get it for me, because I’m a hundred percent sure she was the one who told Lisa. It had to be her; Lisa can’t just wake up one morning and know some words in Italian. When she couldn’t stand me anymore, despite how I had ordered a drink for her, she stood up to leave. I stopped her, only for her to tell me she

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Feelings

(Lisa's POV) "She is no one." His reply to the man broke my heart a billion times. He had spoken in Italian just so I wouldn't understand what he said, but little did he know—I did. After he told me about the mafia party we would be attending, I had asked Isabella to teach me a little Italian, just so I wouldn't feel too foreign at the party—at least, I'd be able to respond when someone greeted me in Italian. I was getting tired of explaining to everyone that I didn't understand the language. Isabella was kind enough to teach me the basics. Though I didn’t fully grasp all the words she taught me, some of them stuck in my brain. "How do you say 'she is my girlfriend' in Italian?" I had asked with a smile. "Why would you ask me that? You should be learning the important words first," she replied. "Just tell me. I want to know." I pouted, and she smiled before telling me how to say it in Italian. "Lei non è nessuno," she said with a smile, making me furrow my brows. "What

(Alessio's POV) The drive to the party was a quiet one. Lisa didn’t speak to me; her eyes were fixed outside the car window, and I could see her sad face from the side mirror. Speaking harshly to her earlier was never my intention. I just snapped in anger when I noticed she wasn’t wearing the crystal necklace she had promised never to take off. If I wasn’t so observant, I wouldn’t have realized it was missing. I don’t know if she was created on the same day stubbornness was, but she never listens and always wants to act on her own. Still, I felt bad for raising my voice at her. The fear in her eyes—the one I hadn’t seen for a while—reappeared after I shouted at her. If I hadn’t reacted so harshly, she would have been smiling, admiring the beautiful night view of Rome. Instead, her head was resting against the car seat, her gaze lost outside the window, reflecting her sadness. She wasn’t even looking at me, let alone talking to me. I don’t like seeing her this way. (Lisa's POV) "Whoa! All these dresses for me?" I exclaimed in excitement as my hands felt the dresses on the standing rack. "Yes. You can pick whichever one you like," Alessio replied, his hands stuck in his pockets. I strode toward him, my hands reaching out to his neck. Gosh! He was just so damn tall. "What's with the expensive dresses? Are you we going on a date?" I asked sheepishly. "No, we aren't," he replied. "If we're not going on a date, why did you buy so many expensive dresses?" I inquired. I was kind of sad because I really wanted to go on a date with him and do the cute little things couples do. But then I realized he wasn't the kind of man to engage in such things. Moreover, our relationship hadn't been defined yet. "We are going to a party," he moved away from me, sat down on the sofa, and signalled me to come sit on his lap. I did so, simpering. "What kind of party are we going to?" I asked, my excitement building. Even if it wasn’t a date, at least

(Alessio's POV) Lisa had happily accepted the crystal necklace, unaware of what it truly entailed. I had hidden a tiny GPS tracker inside the pendant without her knowledge or informing her about it. Now that the strange caller seems to know my every move, this is the only way for me to protect her. As long as she never takes the necklace off, I will be able to track her every move—just like I am doing now. Seated in my office, my eyes lingered on my phone screen as I watched Lisa’s location. She had left her room and gone to the library, which seemed to be her favorite place in the house. I just hope she doesn’t act stubborn and take the necklace off. I can’t be with her twenty-four hours a day, but with the tracker on her, I can know where she is at all times. It almost feels like I’m with her, even when I’m not. She’s definitely going to be the target of this strange caller. He knows I’m in love with her, and I’d swear on my life that I will protect her. Because even knowi
