(Lisa's POV)

Why didn't he fall for my tricks? I had asked him to watch me dress, but he chose to leave. Why didn't he give in? I pondered while sitting on the couch in Alessio's suite, where he had instructed me to stay until he returned.

Had I not done it properly? Come to think of it, he had barged into my room, asking if I was alright or if someone had entered while he was away. It was the first time I had seen panic in his eyes, and it made me wonder what could have happened. Was he attacked?

I sighed, realizing that the quietness of his suite offered no answers to my questions. If he were under attack, he should release me and let me return to my simple life. I don't want to be involved in his chaotic world, which seemed more dangerous than the Great War.

After sitting on the couch for almost thirty minutes, I stood up and began pacing around the suite, feeling bored. I wanted to leave, maybe go to the library or go to Isabella, who could easily entertain me with her jokes a

(Alessio's POV) "What happened? How did the explosion start?" Salvatore asked over the phone. "It was an attack from our enemies," I replied, puffing the smoke from my cigarette through my nostrils. Ever since the strange phone call, I had been smoking nonstop due to paranoia. He dared to play games with me—no one had done that before, but this stranger did, even laughing at me for not being able to detect his voice. I had tried calling a thousand times, but whenever I did, it was always unreachable. "Which of our enemies attacked us?" Salvatore inquired. "Leave it to me. I'm going to handle it," I said. Telling the Godfather that I didn't know who had attacked our clan was the last thing I would do. It wasn't that I was afraid; I wasn't afraid of anyone, not even the creator of the earth. I chose not to tell him so he wouldn't have any reason to come back to Italy. I didn't want him to return and see Lisa—maybe I forgot to mention that the Godfather is the third person who knows

(Alessio's POV) "Don Alessio!" Marco approached me as I arrived at the nightclub with Ivan. "I'm glad you came; it's been a while. Should I get the best women ready for you?" he asked, speaking in Italian. "I'm looking for someone," I replied. "Who could it be? Tell me right away, and I'll fetch the person for you," Marco said with a smile. He had always wanted to get on my good side, but unfortunately for him, he was trying to please the wrong person. Signaling to Ivan, he showed Marco a picture of the boy we had obtained from the CCTV cameras. He must have been foolish not to realize that there were cameras around. "Do you know him?" I asked. Marco took the picture from Ivan and stared deeply at it. "I think I know him, Don Alessio. His name is Zach, and he comes here every Friday to gamble," Marco said. "Why are you looking for him?" he added. I took the picture and handed it to Ivan. "I need a VIP seat at the gambling hall," I said. "You want to gamble?" Marco asked, but I

(Alessio's POV)"What should I do, Boss Alessio?" Ivan asked when he returned. With my fist tightly clenched, I turned to face him. Ivan innocently stared at me. He can't possibly be the strange caller, right? Ivan wouldn't betray me because he knows the consequences if he does. A part of me chose to believe that he couldn't possibly betray me, while the other part had doubts."Did I do something wrong? You keep staring at me," Ivan said, and I sighed before shifting my eyes away from him. Trust isn't a commodity in my world, but somehow I was able to trust Ivan. He had been my right-hand man for a couple of years now, and all he had ever shown me was his sincerity. He had been loyal, despite the behavior I often displayed.Thinking about that, I decided not to believe he could be the strange caller. He's too afraid of me to even consider it."I'm going to handle it myself. Where's Zach?" I asked."I dropped him off at a nearby hospital, though I don't know if he'll survive or not.""

(Lisa's POV) Did he just ask me for a cup of coffee? I thought to myself as I stared at Alessio, his dark brown eyes fixed on me. Initially, I thought he was going to kill the maids because they had sat around me while I served them coffee. It took a lot of convincing before they agreed to sit with me. Isabella had helped as well. I just wanted them to feel comfortable around me—at least until I managed to leave this place for good. Isn't he the monster who kills for little or no reason? So why was he asking me for coffee instead of killing them like he usually does? No, I should be grateful he wasn’t acting like his monstrous self today. "All of you should leave," his deep voice commanded, addressing Isabella, Vanessa, and the maids, who kept their heads bowed, clearly terrified. Of course, they’d be scared of dying—no one wants to die. They all stood up at once, and without sparing me a glance, they left. Now I was alone with him. But strangely, he didn’t scare me the way he use

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Addiction

(Alessio's POV) I had told Lisa to sit down because I wanted to tell her about the strange caller who seemed to know about her. But when she sat across from me and stared at me with those innocent, beautiful eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. She’s fragile, and I knew she might get scared if I told her. I didn’t want her to live in fear, knowing her life could be in danger. That’s why I had asked her to stay with me while I finished the coffee she made, instead of telling her about the strange caller. From the moment I kidnapped her and brought her into my home, I knew I was endangering her life. Yet, I chose to take that risk and keep her with me. Her face wasn’t something I could ever grow tired of, so I wanted to keep seeing it. I didn’t want any man to lust over her beauty and body—except me. As I sipped the coffee slowly, I noticed the frustrated look on her face. If she had her way, she’d probably yell at me to finish the coffee quickly so she could go back to her room.

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Pain

(Lisa's POV) I could barely move from the bed because my stomach ached so much. I’d have said it was the coffee from last night, but when a liquid dropped into my panties, I knew it was my time of the month. Isabella was kind enough to give me some of her sanitary supplies since she had packed a lot before coming here. I believe her now, after the maids told me they had been brought in here unconscious, but I wasn't dwelling on that because my stomach hurt so much. It had always been like this during my time of the month. I could barely move and would stay on the bed all day, tossing around as I endured the pain that felt like it might kill me. Isabella wasn’t here with me because I had told her I wanted to be alone. The pain came as sharp as a knife, and I winced. I always hated this time of the month because it brought nothing but pain. Back in California, I took drugs to ease the pain, but they never worked for me—probably because I could only afford the cheap ones. “Are you

(Alessio's POV) Lisa took the bottle of water and medicine from me, avoiding eye contact. She read the prescription on the medicine before swallowing two pills. "Are you okay now?" I asked, hoping the medicine would work quickly so she could stop feeling pain. I didn’t like the way she looked right now; it felt like she’d died. The pain consumed her to the extent that she lost her voice. I didn’t know women went through this kind of pain during their monthly flow. If not for Isabella, I wouldn’t have known what was going on with her. I’ve always known she was stubborn, but I didn’t realize she was this stubborn. She was dying in pain, and yet she chose to hide it from me. Did she have any idea how worried I was when I came into the room and saw her like that? I thought she was going to die with the way she held her stomach, her voice weak and faint. It scared me so much that I rushed to the nearest pharmacy as quickly as I could to get her medicine. What the heck is she doing to

(Writer's POV) "What do you mean by my daughter isn't back from her business trip?!" Jacob, Lisa's dad, yelled at the woman in her late thirties, who happened to be Lisa's boss. "She is not yet back from her business trip," the lady answered, her tone low and her eyes darting nervously because she knew she was lying to the old man. "Business trip? Among all the workers here, why did you choose my daughter for the business trip?" Jacob asked, annoyed. The lady took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves so Jacob wouldn't realize she had been feeding him lies. "Lisa is the most capable one, and that's why I chose her. You should be happy about this." "Happy about this? The last time I spoke to my daughter was on the night before her sudden disappearance. She never mentioned any business trip to me." "Because it came as an emergency. Go back home, and I am sure your daughter will be home soon," the lady said, hoping he'd leave, but Jacob shook his head. "I'm not leaving until

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Sinful lips

(Alessio's POV) "Did you just smile?" she asked, looking surprised to see me smile. This would be the first time she had actually seen me smile, even if I had chuckled or smiled a few times because of her. How she had compared me to her ex-boyfriend stayed glued in my brain, and every time I thought about it, I felt nothing but anger. I couldn’t shake it off no matter how hard I tried, and that’s why I decided to ask her. When she said she no longer loved or thinks of her ex, I felt happy—no, I was over the moon. Do I love her to this extent for me to be overjoyed that she no longer thinks of her shitty ex-boyfriend? If a soothsayer had told me Lisa was a witch, I wouldn’t doubt it, because she had cast a love spell on me. "You just smiled, didn’t you?" she asked again, as her fragile index finger pointed at my lips. "No, I didn’t," I said, keeping a straight face. Even though I was in love with her, I couldn’t make it so obvious. I was still Alessio DeLuca, no matter what.

(Lisa's POV)I kept pacing around the room, not knowing how to leave the suite. I had screamed and knocked on the door, but no one was willing to open it for me. My throat even hurt from screaming so much. Why would he think of locking me in here? Still, I couldn’t shake the thought of how I—no, how we survived the landmine without getting hurt. Was it a real landmine, or was it just for show? I thought to myself as I continued pacing around the room.I need to go back to California now that I was fully aware of the exit, but what if he keeps locking me in here? I quickly went to the door to knock again, but that’s when he entered. I stumbled backward at the sight of him.“You were about to knock on the door again, weren’t you?” he asked. His voice seemed calmer now. Does that mean he’s no longer mad at me?“You locked me in here the whole day. Why would you even do that? You can’t just lock me in here,” I said. He walked closer to me, lowering his head to match my height. I gulped ha

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Despise

(Alessio's POV) I wanted to leave her there, letting the rain continue to drench her, but she kept calling out my name, making it difficult for me to stand by my words. I brought her inside the house after she lost consciousness. When she woke up this morning, I was on the brink of unleashing my anger at her for disobeying me. However, when she winced in pain as I held her jaw, I let go, because this foolish heart of mine always ached in pain whenever she was in pain. I hated the fact that I was in love with her. It took a lot of thinking for me to understand my heart. I had always said I would never fall in love with any woman, but here I was, already in love with that fragile, stubborn woman. Now that I know how I feel about her, the Godfather might come after her, but I will ensure he never lays a finger on a single strand of her hair. She was mine even before I realized my feelings for her, and now that I know I love her, I wouldn't hesitate to kill millions of people just for

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Warm hands

(Lisa's POV) I kept my eyes wide open, trying my best not to fall asleep. If I did, I would move my feet, which meant I would die, and the fear of dying scared me to the core. Now I fully understood why everyone here respected his orders; they didn't want to die. My legs ached, and I was growing weaker from standing on this landmine for more than three hours. I had heard a couple of stories about how deadly landmines could be, and Alessio was cruel for leaving me here without even attempting to help. I hated him so much! Who in their right mind would install a deadly weapon in their house just because they had a web of enemies? Just when I thought I could finally go back to my dad, I was trapped here with no one trying to help me. "You are so heartless, Alessio," I muttered as tears continued to pour down my cheeks. My eyes threatened to close, but I fought to keep them open. "Please, anyone, help me!" I screamed, but the response I got was the echo of my voice. The guar

(Alessio's POV) "Welcome back, Boss Alessio," the gatekeeper said as I drove past him. I ignored him, just as I always ignored anyone who greeted me. My face bore nothing but anger as Lisa's words kept echoing in my ears. I had spent the previous night at the clan because I was consumed with rage, and I didn't want to take it out on her. If I did, she wouldn't be able to survive it. The drive to the house took a few minutes since the distance between the gate and my house was a bit far. When I stepped out of the car, I was immediately approached by one of the guards. It was unusual for them to approach me unless something serious had happened. "Don Alessio," he said, his head bowed to the ground. "What do you want?" I asked coldly. "It's the woman you brought home," he replied, speaking in Italian. "What woman?" I asked, narrowing my eyes. "The woman that was brought from California." "Lisa?" I furrowed my brows, not quite understanding what he was saying. He was one of the me

(Lisa's POV) I sat on the bed, my smile never leaving my face. After much thinking and trying to figure out where the exit of Alessio's house could be, I had finally found it. He wasn't just a monster; he was a tricky man as well. No one would have guessed that the tiny dot could be the key to leaving this house. I had finally come to believe the saying that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Now that I knew the exit, I planned to leave quietly, without anyone noticing. I had no idea how I would book a flight back to California since I had lost my phone and credit card the day he kidnapped me. But it didn't matter; I was going to find a way back to California. What mattered most was leaving this place first. A hand tapped my shoulder, causing me to scream in surprise, as I had been deep in thought. "Are you okay?" Isabella asked, worried about my outburst. I let out a deep sigh and nodded. "Yes, I’m fine. Why did you tap me like that? You scared me." "I'm sorry I sta

  • In The Arms Of A Mafia Boss    Rival

(Writers' POV) The loud music in the nightclub pulsed through the air as people danced to the beat. Some were lost in their movements, others were busy making out, while a few watched the strippers perform their outrageous routines on stage, tossing money at them. The waitstaff hustled to serve customers who seemed increasingly impatient. Bianca stepped inside the nightclub, the sound of her chain boots echoing as she walked, her eyes scanning the crowd for someone. She wore a pair of shorts that barely covered her backside and dark thigh-high socks. The crop top she worn struggled to contain her huge breasts, but she didn’t care. Chewing gum and blowing bubbles, her gaze darted around until she spotted Marco engaged in conversation with a group of men. Their demeanor suggested they were mafia bosses, but no one could be compare to Alessio when it came to exuding a frightening aura. "Marco, can we talk?" she said, dismissing the men with a wave of her hand. Since they weren't

(Lisa's POV) “I’m not hungry,” I said to Vanessa, who kept pressuring me to eat. How could I eat, knowing fully well that my dad was sick and alone, waiting for me to come back home? I had always been a food lover, but I would be a cruel daughter to indulge while my dad wasn’t well. Vanessa took my hand, caressing it softly, and my tear-streaked eyes met hers. "You should eat," she urged me again, but I shook my head, wiping the tears streaming down my face. Ever since I found that letter, my eyes hadn’t stopped producing tears. “You once said I should consider you my daughter whenever we’re alone like this, right? Well, this is me, as your mother, asking my daughter to eat,” she said, her voice low and soothing. “I'm sorry, but I don’t have any appetite. All I want right now is to go home,” I whispered, my voice barely audible through my sobs. Vanessa wiped my tears and offered me a reassuring smile. “Your dad will be okay. Just have faith.” “I can’t have that faith,” I r

(Alessio's POV) I arrived in Lisa's room and found her lying on the bed, soaking the sheets with her tears. Her sobs were loud, and they pierced my heart in a way I couldn’t even explain. "Lisa," I called out her name, but she buried her face deeper into the pillow, crying as if I had beaten her. I’ve never treated her the way I heartlessly handled other women in the past. "Stop crying and sit up. I need to check something," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. I was worried she might be hurt, but her face remained pressed into the pillow, as though she hadn’t even heard me. Why was I even stressing myself over this? I knew how stubborn she could be. With a sigh, I walked over to the bed and gently raised her head from the pillow. It wasn’t difficult to move her; she was so light and fragile. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice hiccupping softly, her tear-filled eyes meeting mine. "Turn your back," I said, but Lisa ignored me, just as I expected. Frustrated, I carefully bu
