Alexandra's POV
I stepped into the pool party uninvited, ignoring the stares that followed me. I knew why they were looking; thanks to Davis, my stepbrother, my personal writings, embarrassing, intimate things I’d never meant for others to see, had become everyone’s entertainment. My fists clenched as I pushed through the crowd, eyes fixed only on him. There he was, laughing, carefree, while I was barely holding myself together. “What the hell are you doing…” he started, but before he could finish, my fist connected with his face. “You worthless jerk,” I spat, oblivious to the stares and the whispers that were growing louder around us. “Who’s she?” someone muttered. “The girl with the lusty diary. Freak,” another voice chimed in, the insult piercing through me. I wanted to say something back, but the words stuck in my throat. Maybe confronting Davis here, in front of everyone, had been a mistake. But I was here now. Davis smirked. “You hear that? Freak. If I were you, I’d leave right now.” “Why? Don’t want everyone to know your stepsister is a freak?” I shot back, my voice loud enough for everyone around us to hear. The music had stopped, and all eyes were on us. Davis’s jaw clenched, fury flashing across his face. I could tell he hated being exposed like this, but I didn’t care. “Is she telling the truth?” one of his friends asked, disbelief mingling with amusement. “Shut up,” Davis growled, grabbing my wrist and dragging me out of the crowd. “You’re going to regret this,” he hissed, his voice icy. “Get your filthy hands off me,” I snapped, yanking my arm back. His grip only tightened as he pulled me further away, ignoring the phone someone had raised to record us. He knocked it out of their hand, sending it splashing into the pool. He finally stopped at a secluded spot, pinning me against a car with surprising force. His eyes glared down at me with a cold fury that made me shiver. “Now everyone knows what a nuisance you are. From now on, it’s going to be hell for you, Alexandra. Mark my words—both you and your gold-digging father are going to be out of my life soon enough.” I slapped him, the sharp crack echoing through the silence. “Threaten me all you want. I’m not scared of you, Davis.” “Oh, you will be,” he sneered. We were interrupted by a group of guys striding over, led by one with bright red hair. His gaze lingered on me a little too long, making my skin crawl. “Sorry to interrupt your family bonding,” he taunted, smirking at Davis. “You never told anyone you had such a gorgeous sister.” “Beautiful? You’re clearly drunk, Ricky,” Davis snapped back. “And why would I tell you anything?” Ricky laughed, his friends joining in mockingly. “Acting all high and mighty, just like you always do. Guess you’ve forgotten our little unfinished business, haven’t you rich brat.” “Really? Go ahead, remind me,” Davis said coolly. “You stole from me,” Ricky replied, his voice laced with a dark threat. “I let it slide, but maybe I’m done playing nice.” Davis’s face paled, glancing at me. “What are you still doing here? Get lost!” “What’s wrong, Davis? Don’t want your sister to know you’re a gambler?” Ricky sneered. My stomach dropped. A gambler? Davis? “Shut up, Ricky, it was a fucking fair game. Don't blame me for your losing ass." Davis growled, his voice dangerous. But Ricky had had enough. In a swift move, he shoved Davis against the car, holding him there as he muttered something in his ear. I stood frozen, my heart pounding as I watched. Then Ricky’s friends revealed knives and small pistols. I’d never seen weapons with kids our age. I felt a chill down my spine, what had I walked into? Davis swiftly retaliated immediately, holding Ricky by the neck so tightly to the point of choking him. Seeing the weapons, Davis released Ricky, who seized the opportunity to kick him hard multiple times in the groin. Davis doubled over, groaning in pain. The tension hung thick in the air, but I could barely move, processing the unraveling secrets and threats that had turned my world upside down. Seeing that they were about to use the knife on Davis, I intervened. "Just stop, you really don't want to do this... I... I mean not here." Ricky laughed. "Defending your big brother now, huh? I think you should leave, this is none of your business damsel." "Please... I know he's a douchebag but it's not necessary to kill him." "I don't care..." Ricky nonchalantly replied. He gave his boys a go ahead but immediately Davis said something I never thought I'd hear from his braggy mouth. "Did I hear that right? You really want to know what I want" Ricky said, darting his gaze at me lustfully, as he instructed his boys to hold. "You want her? you can have her for all I care." Davis said. "What the fuck?" I was perplexed, regretting why I stayed defending him in the first place. Ricky walked up to me, his eyes not leaving my upper chest, my cleverage were showing a bit in the tight dress I wore. Though I had a jacket on but it was opened rather than zipped. "Good then, it's a deal." Ricky replied Davis, his gaze still on me. The mocking laughter from his boys irritated me so much and I couldn't stop staring at Davis who was dusting himself to leave me here with these drunken boys. "I told you to leave, didn't I? You should listen sometimes." Davis said before leaving me alone. I rushed after him, wanting to stop him but Ricky and his boys were fast to block my way. "It's just a night with me, pretty. I'm not so bad like you think I am." he smirked. "Very good in bed too" he whispered in my ears. "You must be kidding if you think I'll follow you anywhere." I rebuked him, wanting to step out of their midst but Ricky held me back so strong. "Let me go, you lunatic." I slapped him hard on the face, but it was returned back by him... much more harder that I slumped to the ground and instantly my vision went blurry. I saw him right upon of me, his red messy hair and horrible smirk slightly blurry. Soon before I became unconscious, I heard the sounds of siren so close by. I was hopeful seeing the lunatics panicking, contemplating whether to leave me there or take me along with them but later on I heard nothing from them, instead I felt a strong hand carry me up from the ground so easily. "Let me go." I muttered faintly. I was unable to see the figure carrying me. "Be quiet." the voice was masculine, husky and cold. I felt his arms, strong and muscular at the very last minute before I finally fell unconscious.Alexandra's POVThe sudden cacophony of screams outside the lab window startled me out of my concentration. I turned to see Davis Beckett, the school's star athlete, surrounded by a gaggle of adoring girls. Though I tried to return to my work, I tried to resist to be drawn in by the spectacle.""He's such a hottie!" Summer gushed, her eyes glued to Davis. I had to admit, he was easy on the eyes, but I couldn't bring myself to swoon like the rest of the girls."A hottie with no brains," I scoffed, my focus firmly on the task at hand. But my words didn't have the intended effect - Summer just rolled her eyes and laughed."Oh, come on! You can't deny that he's got some serious swagger," l couldn't help but roll my eyes back at her. "Swagger doesn't give good grades" Summer,' I said. 'A good head on your shoulders does. That's what we should be focusing on, instead of mooning over a pretty face.'" Suddenly, the door swung open and in walked Davis himself. "Pretty face! She finally ag
Alexandra's POV My dad's cooking always brought back fond memories of my childhood, and it was nice to feel that connection again. But something was missing from this bonding moments, my mother. She had always been the one to set the table, making sure everything was just right. I wished she could have been here with us, enjoying the meal and the conversation, But I knew that was impossible. My mother had passed away a few years ago, and her absence was still felt deeply. I tried to push the sadness away, focusing instead on the moment I was sharing with my dad. My dad cleared his throat and looked at me with a mixture of nervousness and excitement. "I have something to tell you, but I'm not sure how you'll react," he said, his voice shaking slightly. I felt a knot of apprehension form in my stomach, wondering what could be so important that he was this nervous to tell me. "I'm all ears, Dad," I said, trying to sound reassuring. I knew whatever he had to say was weighing heavily
Alexandra's POV As my dad's red Jeep pulled up to the massive white mansion, I couldn't help but be impressed. His soon-to-be bride and my soon-to-be stepmom was clearly filthy rich, anyone could tell from the expensive cars parked around the property and the butlers and maids standing at attention, ready to welcome us. It was all a little overwhelming, and I couldn't help but feel a bit out of my element. But I tried to put on a brave face as I stepped out of the car."Welcome, Mr. and Miss Moore," one of the butlers said, his voice smooth and polished. The butler tried to help me with my luggage, but I politely declined. "I can manage it myself, thank you," I said with a smile. But the butler was insistent. ""Alex, I think you should let George help you with your bag," Roselyn said as she approaches us. She must have heard the small argument I was having with the butler. I felt a bit embarrassed to have my dad's soon-to-be wife see me like this, but I didn't want to be a burde
Alexandra's POV "AHHHH!" I shrieked, jumping back as I spotted the cockroaches scuttling across my clothes. "What the--" I couldn't finish the sentence, frozen in horror.Within moments, my dad and Roselyn rushed into my room, their robes billowing behind them. My dad's eyes widened in alarm as he spotted the roaches. "What the—"he began, but Roselyn cut him off."Zora!" she yelled, summoning the maid. Zora appeared in the doorway, her face a mask of concern. "Why are there roaches in Alexandra's closet?" Zora's eyes widened as she took in the scene. She hurried to my side, her hands clasped together. "I'm so sorry, Miss Alexandra. I didn't know there were roaches in here. I'll get the exterminator right away."Roselyn turned to Zora, her voice stern. "This is completely unacceptable. How could this happen?""I don't know, madam," Zora said, her voice shakingBut I was still reeling from the shock of seeing the roaches. As I stood there, trying to process what had just happened
Alexandra's POV The holiday break was over, and school was starting again. I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as I thought about the days ahead. I had agreed to keep my relationship to Davis a secret, but that didn't make things any easier. Every time I saw him, I was reminded of what he had said to me that night at the ballroom. And it wasn't easy to forget. "Davis, quit flirting around!" I heard Drake yell across the quad. I turned to see Davis and his girlfriend, Chloe, making out in the pitch"I know, right?" Summer said, shaking her head in disgust. "He's such a player." But even as I watched them, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. It was stupid and irrational, but it was there. I quickly pushed the feeling aside, reminding myself that I had agreed to keep things platonic between us. I couldn't let my emotions get the better of me.As I sat there, watching them, I wondered how I was going to get through the next few months. How was I going to pretend that
