Chapter 7

I stood in front of Archer's apartment door for what felt like an eternity. His bike was parked outside, a clear sign he was home.

"Why am I even here?" I muttered to myself, hesitating before raising my hand to knock. The door suddenly flew open.

I nearly shrieked at the sight of him, shirtless, with only a towel draped around his waist.

He looked serious as he saw me. "Come inside," he whispered, grabbing my wrist and checking something outside before locking the door.

"Your mother... is she here?" I asked.

He nodded. "No questions anymore, please."

"O-Okay..." I coughed, glancing around his apartment. It was small but clean and neat.

"What changed your mind?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. He leaned against the door frame of his room, and I hated how hot I found him at that moment.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I stammered, "I could use your comfort. In bed, obviously."
