I opened my eyes slowly and sat up, I suddenly remembered yesterday peeled back my shirt, and stared at my shoulder. It was perfectly fine and with no trace that I had been stabbed there.
“You are good as new” came Jake’s voice and I turned to see him in the doorway, looking handsome, his long dark hair fell to his forehead enhancing those roguish good looks of his. I scowled at him and he smiled.
“You stabbed me,” I said and he grinned as if he enjoyed the moment.
“You asked dear,” he said with mock sweetness and I rolled my eyes.
“And you still stabbed me,” I said and he grinned and grabbed my hairbrush and swung it like a sword.
“I couldn’t miss that opportunity,” he said and plopped on the bed beside me.
“You’re a beast,” I said and he smiled. He extended a claw and grabbed my teddy and stabbed it in the heart.
“Hey” I complained and he grinned and tossed me the teddy. I hid the teddy behind the bed and he chuckled.
“What happened yesterday,” I asked and he stood and stared at himself in a nearby mirror and fiddled with his hair.
“I stabbed you and you howled, I meant wolf-howl then you grew fangs and almost chewed my head off but you suddenly collapsed,” he said and I sighed.
“Why do I still feel human?” I asked and he shrugged.
“That trigger was for a short period, you really need to meet your soulmate,” he said and I stared at him curiously.
“How do I know my soulmate?” I asked and he looked away.
“When you kiss the person, your wolf immediately recognizes him, and a bond is formed. You would feel it and he would too, " he explained and I tilted my head to the side.
“So I just go about kissing random dudes?” I said and Jake's lips twitched.
“If you want to,” he said and lay on the floor, he closed his eyes.
“Do you love my brother?” he asked, catching me off guard and I nodded. His eyes filled with something that looked like jealousy for a moment then he closed them.
“Go shower, We’ll try awakening your wolf today with another trigger,” he said and I nodded. I opened the door.
“You can go. I have to change” I said and he smiled slowly.
“You can’t force me” he muttered and I sighed.
“Please” I pleaded and he nodded and walked out of the room, I knew why I asked him to leave. I didn’t know why but I was starting to feel something for him, something I thought I only felt for John.
How wrong I was.
*********
Jake and I sat in the grass after a gruesome session of training and I was extremely famished, he produced a pack of sandwiches and handed me one.
“I haven’t seen John in a while,” I said and Jake shrugged as he shoved a sandwich into his mouth,
“He is away on alpha business,” he said and I stared at him.
“Why do you sound bitter?” I asked and he chose not to reply. Something was definitely up between him and John. Jake popped open a bottle of beer and drank. He offered me but I shook my head.
“Wimp,” he said, and for some reason that made me smile.
“Did you ever have a girlfriend?” I asked and he made a mock offended face.
“Girlfriend? How very insulting. I don’t do relationship stuff I just do what I want with the lady then we’re done” he said and I studied him.
“Hmmm,” I said, “Playboy,” I said and he grinned.
“Definitely,” he said and brought out another sandwich and gave it to me and I stared at him in surprise. Why was he suddenly kind?
“You are being nice,” I said and he narrowed his eyes.
“So you prefer me, tearing heads huh? I see” Jake said with a cold smile and I shook my head frantically.
“No, no. I am just surprised that’s all” I said and he suddenly looked serious.
“You just bring out the best in me, I don’t know why” his eyes roamed my face then my lips then back to my eyes and he looked away.
“Eat up, you still have five more laps to run,” he said and I groaned. Couldn’t he just be perfectly nice for one day?
“Fine,” I said and quickly ate my sandwich and started jogging while he watched me skeptically.
Did this guy even ever get impressed by anything? I ran as he instructed and sat on the grass when I was done.
“I am tired,” I said and for a moment he looked at me sympathetically then he masked up the emotion and helped me get up, he walked me to my room and I sat on a chair, he rummaged around my things and pulled out my old journal and opened it.
I shot to my feet and snatched it from him, he snickered.
“You write a journal?” he asked and I nodded. He grabbed a pack of candy from the top of my drawer and tore it open, popping two into his mouth.
“Stop taking my things” I chided and he grinned, he looked so handsome that I felt dazzled, he stared at me in concern.
“What’s wrong?” He asked quietly and I shook my head.
“No it’s nothing,” I said and he studied my face and again his eyes went to my lips. He brushed away my hair from my face and slowly pressed his lip on mine, he pulled away but I pulled him closer and he deepened the kiss, then immediately my body vibrated and he pulled away in shock.
He stared at me like I had grown two heads and his eyes……his eyes were yellow.
‘Mine’ said a voice that sounded like mine but deeper in my head and suddenly Jake’s eyes widened.
“Soulmate” he whispered.
Jake was my soulmate.
“What do we do?” I asked and Jake eyes darkened like he didn’t like the situation he was in, I didn’t either. He shook his head like he couldn’t believe I was asking that question. “What do you want us to do? have sex?” He asked and my cheeks reddened and I glared at him. “Do you have to say that?” I asked and he shrugged and grabbed a bottle of tequila and drank I watched as his throat bobbed as the drink went down his throat. “Yes” he said. He regarded me and smiled like he had an evil plan. “We should tell John” he said and my eyes widened. I still liked John and didn’t want to hurt his feelings. “What? No” I don’t exclaimed and he grinned like that was the reaction he was waiting for. He offered me a glass and I shook my head he frowned. “Take the damned drink from me or I’ll tell dear brother that you are my one true soulmate the one I get to bang” he said with a mock smile and I scowled. “I a
Jake didn’t say anything of course, he had been bluffing and I had forgotten that John wasn’t around. We had spent the last few days training intensely, for some reason Jake had been so focused on training that it had me wondering. No snide remarks or cocky talks, just fixed and hell bent on making me improve. He didn’t say anything funny or rude, just professional and while I was practicing it had me wondering if I had done anything wrong or he was regretting something. Jake was a reserved person, that I knew but over the last few days he had been quite free with me. It wasn’t that he was avoiding me but being unusually calm with me even when I was making mistakes was—new. “Everything alright?” I asked when he decided I could take a break. Jake turned to me, his eyes bore into my face. “Problem?” He asked, not dismissively but as if he wanted to know something. “No, it’s just that you are unusual…….” “Aloof?” He finished for me and I sighed again pushing away my hair from my
When I wake Jake is asleep on the couch, or so I thought because as I try to see how he looks when sleeping, he growls and opens his eyes.“What are you looking at?” He asked with a scowl and I grinned at him.“You look like a little baby when you are asleep” I said and he shrugged and stretched before standing up and walking to the window, something I now noticed was his habit.“That’s not true” he said finally and I flashed a smile that said I wasn’t convinced. I slung my legs and got into a sitting position, my head pounded and I remembered how he had made me do laps that were meant to kill.I tried to find anything to say or joke about just to keep the vibe. One thing I learnt about Jake was he kept quiet easily and wouldn’t talk much except spoken to.“Jake” I finally called and he tensed. He didn’t turn to face me.“Thank you for watching over me,” I added. He turned at that. His green eyes bore into face as if trying to decipher what was going through my head. He turned away ag
I suddenly realised that I was naked and that Jake was just watching me in wolf form. It was weird that a huge black werewolf was staring at me wearing nothing. Then he had the nerve to peel back his lips and let out a feral grin revealing his huge canine.“Small boobs” he said in my head and I covered my breats blushing.“Stop looking” i chided and he trotted up to me and sniffed. I was about to open my mouth to retort when a maid came running in. Her eyes darted to a nude me then to wolf form Jake them back to me. She swallowed.“Alpha John, your brother had been kidnapped” she said panicking and Jake growled. The sound echoed, giving me chills. As I blinked, he was back in human form, naked. I could see the maid trying so hard not to look.“Kidnapped? Who would dare?” He said quietly and the maid shrugged.“We don’t know. We only got a note this morning” she said and Jake closed his eyes.“Lemme see tha note” he said and the maid passes him the note. There was no emotion on his fac
Jake finds out that his brother was taken to a location in Brazil precisely a jungle known for it supernatural aspects and treacherous lands. According to the maids, the same rogues who were after me where the same who took John. For the first time in two days Jake looked genuinely pissed, like he wasn’t happy with the fact that his brother was taken to a jungle and held hostage. For some reason I suddenly wanted to follow Jake, I felt that it was two dangerous. I was no help, but at least another living breathing werewolf could do so much more so I marched over to his study again and knocked.“I can smell you Reyna” he growled, sounding annoyed from the other side and I sighed. I pushed open the door without waiting for his invite and walked in. There was a cigar in his mouth and he took a long drag.“I heard” I started and Jake scowled at me.“Heard what” he retorted and I rolled my eyes. I folded my arms watching as he drummed his fingers on table“Heard where John was taken to. S
Reyna's POVThe hustle and bustle of different people at the airport, alongside Jake's demeanor were two things I hadn't accounted for when I wanted to follow him. But my heart still ached with the thought of John and those....rogue wolves, that whatever hesitation I had vanished into thin air.We had gotten our tickets and were headed towards the boarding area, when I accidentally slipped backwards on my slippers, almost landing on my butt. A small yelp left my lips as I slid against the tiles. I shut my eyes tightly, yelping and bracing for impact. But impact didn't happen. Instead, I was suspended mid air, by surprisingly strong arms. The faint scent of pine and cinnamon permeated my senses, and I opened my eyes.Jake's green orbs were staring back at me, and I realized he stopped me from falling. There was a small flicker of concern in those steeled eyes, but it disappeared as soon as it showed up. "Try being more careful on your feet. I won't save your ass again." He growled, le
Jake's POVI had never been the good son. It was either I did something stupid, out of anger, or I was called a coward for not going for it. And out of the three, I preferred being angry to ease the pain that ate away at my insides. But this woman. This...wolf had a way of upsetting the perfect life I crafted for myself.I shouldn't have saved her that day at that bar. But I couldn't help myself either. I killed for fun, killed for the thrill. I could snap her in half with a flick of my fingers. She was so fragile, so innocent. But she was mine from the second I laid my eyes on her. From the moment that I realized that she was going to be a problem to my sanity. If those rogues wanted to kill her, then she was also mine to kill. And I hated it as much I loved it. I hated that I wanted to be calmer around her.I hated that I liked myself a bit more when she was around.I hated that her smile made me
Reyna's POVI bit my lower lip, trying to restrain myself. Jake’s grip tightened on my chin, his piercing gaze locking onto mine. His voice, sharp and commanding, cut through the tension.“Princess, what did I say about interrupting me?”“You...you said not to do it again,” I muttered breathily. My voice wavered despite my efforts to sound defiant. Damn him and his unnerving dominance. He had this way of making me feel small, not in a bad way, but in a way that made my wolf whimper in submission.A slow smirk spread across his lips, and my chest tightened. The sheer confidence he exuded sent a rush of heat to my face. Before I could protest or think of a witty comeback, he leaned forward. His hand slid from my chin to the small of my back. My breath hitched, and the next thing I knew, I was in his arms.“What the—? Jake!” I yelped, instinctively wrapping my arms around his neck for balance. My heart pounded as his scent hit me, earthy and raw, like pine trees after a rainstorm. My wol
Damien was confused when he woke up and saw Bella but he was much confused when he suddenly fell on him saying that she missed him.He sniffed her to know if she drank but he smelt nothing which means that she was in her right mind.Bella's heart was hammering as she hugged Damien tighter, she was trying all her best not to recoil from him.But it was the only thing she had to do if she didn't want to join her parents untimely."Get off me !" Damien growledBella didn't need to be told that twice, she quickly got off from Damien and shifted away.“What are you doing here?’” He asked. She slowly looked up and met his gaze, Damien’s eyes had turned to slits and his face clenched.“I..I..I.. didn't leave when you left” she stuttered and looked at the floor.Bella heard him get out of the bed and walked closer to her.“What were you doing with the vase?”“I was admiring it, sir” she replied with her eyes still on the floor.“You have a beautiful hair,” Damien said and held a strand of her
Reyna's POV I found John in the kitchen, leaning against the counter with his arms crossed. The sharp clink of a glass being set down broke the silence as I stepped in.“You have something to say?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. He didn’t look at me, his gaze fixed on the floor. “Do you?”I folded my arms, leaning against the doorway. “If you’re upset about something, just say it.”John finally looked up, his eyes piercing. “You think I didn’t see you out there with him?”I froze, my stomach twisting. “It wasn’t what it looked like.”He let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. “You’re really going with that?”“It wasn’t!” My voice rose, frustration bubbling to the surface. “We were just talking.”“Talking,” he repeated, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Sure. Because standing that close, with him looking at you like that, is just friendly conversation.”I took a step closer, anger flaring. “You don’t get to make assumptions, John. You don’t know what’s going on.”“Then tell
Jake's POVI leaned against the doorframe, watching Reyna shuffle past me. Her shoulders were tense, and she moved like she was trying to outrun the weight on her shoulders. I didn’t stop her. Instead, I trailed behind, keeping my steps light.Dinner was the last thing on her mind—hell, it was the last thing on mine—but if sitting across the table gave me even a sliver of a chance to break through that wall she was building, I’d take it.She was so damn stubborn.By the time we reached the kitchen, the smell of roasted chicken and herbs filled the air, but I barely noticed. Reyna slipped into her seat, avoiding my eyes, while John was already there, staring daggers in my direction.“Late, as usual,” John muttered, his fork clinking against his plate.“Miss me that much?” I shot back, dropping into a chair opposite him.Reyna flinched, her hand tightening around her glass of water. She hated this—hated being in the middle of whatever grudge John and I were nursing—but she wasn’t saying
Reyna's POVJake’s lips crashed into mine with a force that sent my thoughts scattering. His hands cupped my face, his grip firm but trembling, as if he was afraid I’d pull away. For a moment, I froze. The world around us blurred—there was no fire, no camp, no shadows, only him. His kiss was desperate, raw, like he’d been holding back for a lifetime. And maybe he had.I couldn’t move. I couldn’t think. I could only feel—his lips soft but insistent, his warmth overwhelming, the way he poured every unspoken emotion into the kiss. When I finally remembered how to breathe, I pressed my hands against his chest, intending to push him away. But instead, my fingers curled into the fabric of his shirt, betraying me. My heart screamed at me to stop, but something deeper, something primal, wouldn’t let me.This wasn’t just a kiss. It was a confession, a breaking point, a plea. When he pulled back, his breathing ragged, he didn’t release me. His forehead rested against mine, his hands still cradl
Reyna's POV The moment we were alone, his hands found my waist, pulling me close. His grip was firm, possessive, and his touch sent a faint shiver down my spine.“I missed you,” he murmured, his voice low and warm, his breath grazing my ear.“I missed you too,” I replied, though my voice felt hollow. My chest tightened, suffocating under the weight of his words.John’s fingers slid up my sides, tracing the curve of my ribs. He tilted my chin up with a knuckle, forcing me to meet his gaze. “You scared me, you know? When they took you…” His voice faltered, rough with emotion. “I thought I’d lost you.”“You didn’t,” I whispered, forcing a smile, though my heart felt numb.He pressed his forehead against mine, his hands tightening. “I need you,” he said softly, his lips hovering over mine. When his lips finally brushed against mine, I kissed him back, desperate to feel something. His hands roamed up my back, threading into my hair. His touch grew hungry, his teeth grazing my bottom lip a

John’s gaze shifted to him, and for a moment, something unspoken passed between them.“Took you long enough,” John muttered, his lips twitching in the faintest hint of a smile.Jake crossed his arms, his expression unreadable. “You’re welcome.”Markus and Elizabeth moved to help John to his feet, their movements careful. “Let’s get out of here,” Markus said, glancing at Jake. “We don’t have much time.”Jake nodded, already heading for the exit. “Stay close,” he said again, his voice low but firm.I followed, my heart heavy with unspoken words. The tension between Jake and John crackled in the air, but now wasn’t the time to unpack it. We had to get out of here—and fast.************The campfire crackled, its faint light cutting through the otherwise suffocating darkness. The others were scattered nearby—Marcus was tending to the shallow wound on his arm, while the rest sat or paced, their exhaustion evident. John’s arm stayed draped protectively around my shoulders, his warmth a str
Reyna's POV . . Jake didn’t let it finish. In one swift motion, he reached into his bag and pulled out the remaining pouch of wolfsbane. He hurled it to the ground, and the powder exploded into a thick, choking cloud. The rogues coughed and staggered, their movements sluggish as the potent toxin took effect. I stepped forward, coughing as the acrid smell stung my nose. “Jake! That’s not what we planned!” Finally, he turned to me. His icy blue eyes pierced through the haze, filled with a rage I’d never seen before. “Stay back, Reina.” Even his voice sounded different. His tone left no room for argument. I clamped my mouth shut, my protests dying on my lips. Jake moved toward the rogues with a deadly precision. One of them tried to snarl, but it was too weak to fight back. Jake’s claws gleamed in the dim light as he slashed its throat in one brutal motion. I flinched, my stomach twisting, but I couldn’t look away. Another rogue, still struggling to stand, barely had
Reyna's POV I shot him a glare, but he just grinned wider. “Fine,” I said through gritted teeth. “Let’s focus on trapping them. What do we have to work with?”Jake reached into his bag and pulled out a bundle of wire and a small pouch of what looked like powder. “Trip wires and wolfsbane dust. Enough to slow them down, maybe even knock out a few if we’re lucky.”“Wolfsbane?” I frowned. “Isn’t that a bit... excessive?”“Not if it keeps us alive.” He tilted his head, studying me. “You’re not backing out, are you?”“Of course not,” I snapped. “I just don’t want this to turn into a bloodbath.”Jake shrugged again, his easy confidence infuriating. “Fine. No bloodbath. But if things go south...” He let the sentence hang, his meaning clear.I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Alright. Let’s get to work.”We spent the next hour setting up the traps. Jake moved with a practiced efficiency, his hands steady as he tied wires and scattered wolfsbane dust in strategic spots. I helped wher
