We were still in my workshop, laying around in each other's arms. We decided to get dressed a few hours ago when someone knocked on the door. Now Lance and I were on that couch again, with me in his arms as he messed with my hair again. “Lance,” I called his name, breaking the silence between us. “Hmm,” he mumbled, not bothering to look at me. I paused, pleading to the moon goddess that he does not get upset about what I wanted to say. “Well um...” I trailed off, not knowing how to construct my sentence. He finally looked at me, bringing up my chin so I could look at him too. “You can tell me,” he assured me with a smile. “How exactly did you get this curse, what caused it in the first place?” I finally was able to muster enough courage to ask him. He looked at me with furrowed brows at first, possibly stunned by my question. But then he smiled warmly, licking his lips and looking away from me to stare ahead of us. I watched him carefully, awaiting an answer from him. He open
I was stunned, my powers had no effect. It did not even look as if I had anything in me. "It's the curse, Hayley. You need to take me to the hospital," he held my hand, stopping me from repeating my movement of trying to heal him. Nodding my head, I agreed. I stood up and raised his body, placing his hands over my shoulder like Mike had done. "Hang in there okay," I pleaded with him. He had lost way too much blood and I suspected he was already dizzy. It was all too shocking that the almighty Lance had himself pierced by a twig and was bleeding to the point of death. "Emergency!" I yelled when I reached the hospital. Immediately, I got the attention I needed. I knew all we had to do was numb the pain and stitch the injury. But we still had to make sure there were no particles of the twig in the injury. They rushed Lance to a bed and I hurried an overall on my body and wore a net. I started by injecting his body with a pain killer then continued by suturing his wound, cleaning
I was right there, watching him sleep. It was way past the time he would usually wake up. I had already shuffled around the bed to get his attention but nothing was working. He was alive alright, he was snoring loud too. That was what woke me up in the first place. Groaning in frustration, I picked up a pillow and hit it on his face. He grunted, collecting the pillow from his face and throwing it to the ground. "Was that necessary?" Lance grumbled and I smiled like it was an achievement. "You would not wake up, I think we have training this morning and you are spending so many hours sleeping," I shrugged, rolling my eyes. "I could kill people for that and yet you chose to do it," he finally sat up from where he laid. "You want to kill me?" I raised a brow. "No, not yet," he smiled, grabbing me and placing me on top of his waist. "But I'd like to straddle you.""Or for me to do so to you," I smirked. "You could do that," he replied. I leaned in for a kiss as he wrapped his arm
"Lance, what the hell are you doing here?" I stared at Lance, shocked to find him kneeling on the floor facing Dorcas who was deep in her chants. My arrival with Grey had not even disturbed her at all, her eyes were shut tightly and she kept whispering words that I could not even understand. "You brought her here?!" Lance glared at Grey, talking between clenched teeth. "Was I supposed to stop her from moving around? You asked me to keep an eye on her, not limit her movement," he raised his hands in defence. "You two do know that I'm standing right here," I gritted my teeth in anger. "I can explain," he sounded like he had cheated on me and was trying to apologise. "What is she doing here?" I pointed at Dorcas who was swaying back and forth with her eyes still closed. "She came to help," he said but stopped, looking at her again. "To do what? Why?!" I kept my voice on a high whisper. "You said you wanted to track down a witch, I did not want to tell you–""Why?!" I cut in, tur
I walked down to our room slowly, counting my steps as I tried to come up with an apology speech. I reached the door and just before I could knock, it opened up for me. He opened it and he was standing there, with a listless face. Sighing, I walked right into the room. He was still a bit mad at me and I was supposed to be too but I learnt a lesson from Sonia, Grey and Dorcas' words. When I walked in, he did not say a word to me and I had no idea how to begin. "Lance," I started, by calling his name. He shot me a look, not moving his head at all but his eyes. He did not say a word and I was hoping he actually did. I had practised words to say to him but the look he had just given me made me discouraged and I didn't even remember anything I said. "I'm sorry," I apologised, bowing my head and picking my fingers. "Why?" Lance finally spoke. "I disregard things that you say or ask of me, I understand that it is wrong and not only because we are mates but you are also my Alpha and I
Everyone had gathered outside, mumbling amongst themselves about why Lance had called a pack meeting. I remember when I attended my very first pack meeting here, Lance put me with my mini pack. I was no longer functional there since I became Luna. It was fun while it lasted though. We were all waiting for Lance, even I was waiting. I had no idea what he was doing there but he needed to hurry things up, they were growing impatient and the sun was becoming way too bright to handle. "Good everyone," Lance finally walked out of the castle and the place that was once noisy from their grumbles and mumbles became very quiet. "Good day," they chorused back like some pack of children. I refused to be among the people that greeted, it was way too weird. Especially when they all decided to chorus their reply to him. "Yes, I know once again you are wondering why I brought up the pack meeting at such short notice," he continued, adjusting the collar of his shirt. We both were already prepare
"Oh this is not the valley of dark souls. This is the path to it. The valley is just at the end of the road," his smirk grew wider. “Oh, I bet that place is more creepy. I did some research and found out that it’s the place of the oldest and first century witches,” I said with eagerness. “Is that what makes you believe it’s dark and old?” Lance asked with the most amused smile. “It has to be, that place is the oldest standing kingdom in the entire land,” I explained further.“Since when did you know all of this?” Lance Looked at me, shocked.“I’m the smart one remember and we have a huge library back at the castle,” I boasted. “That still does not answer my question, smart one,” he replied, raising his hands to finger quote the smart one. “Remember when you stormed out of the library like a little girl the other day, I used the opportunity to do my research before looking for you,” I replied. “Did you just call me a girl?” Lance narrowed his eyes, hearing nothing but a girl.“N
"Zara," Lance breathed. He had a death expression. I had no idea what was going on."Missed me?" Zara smiled warmly at him.I kept mute, watching both of them like I was the stupid one. "How is this possible?" Lance asked, still breathless. "Why don't we all have a seat," she offered, pointing at a meeting table at the far end of the throne room. Silently, I followed Lance behind, obeying his rule of not saying a word till he asked me to. We three settled down, Zara taking the bigger chair that was probably built for her as the queen or something while I sat beside Lance who had his gaze fixed on her. I was not going to lie, my entire body was not comfortable with how he was staring at her. I would call it jealousy but my ego will not let me. "Zara you were–""Dead?" She cut in with a smirk. "Killed, murdered, betrayed out of foolishness of love?" Zara called out. Just after, a few older people walked in. All witches too, I could smell them perfectly well. "This is the cou
