“Dude it’s time to wake up!” Lance yelled. I grumbled when I heard him shout into my ear. “Did you just call me dude?” I frowned, shuffling around the bed before sitting up and resting on the wooden frame of the bed. “Yes, what do you want to do about it?” Lance raised a brow. “Buzz off,” I said, rubbing my eyes and yawning. “You wish,” he scoffed, then walked away into the bathroom. “What are we doing today?” I asked, audible enough for him to hear. He was taking a shower and I could see hot steam sipping from underneath the bathroom door as the shower kept pouring down. I had to have that kind of a bath too, hot and steamy. “We’re in the winter season, I am going out with some pack mates to get some goods. Winter clothes and food and some more logs of woods,” he replied. I stared blankly at the bathroom’s door, I could imagine him there already. Having a bath under the shower, his hair damp with some strands sticking to his face while he swipes them to the back. “You reall
'I'm home!' Lance shouted over the link. Just in time for dinner. 'Why are you shouting Lance?' I shouted back. 'You are also shouting,''You started it,' I argued. I could already perceive his scent, he was trying to find me. 'Aww you missed me,' I smiled. I was done cooking, but I was still clearing up the kitchen so it wouldn't become a mess. "I did," he replied. I turned on my heels to face him, he was leaning on the door frame of the kitchen, with his arms crossed as he stared at me. I looked like a mess and I knew that. I smelt like cheese and I think I got some in my hair. I was wearing an apron and I already stained it with tomato sauce. "Hey," I bit on my bottom lip when I saw him. I missed him too, I was glad he was back. He could assume his position again, I hated every bit of it. "I heard that you kept groaning when you were asked to do aloha duties," he smirked, walking into the kitchen to stand in front of me. "Yes, I don't want to have anything to do with it
“Must I wake you up everyday?” Lance whispered to my ear. I was glad he whispered, imagine he yells like he used to. That would have doubled whatever I was feeling. “Oh, it’s morning already,” I mumbled, putting the pillow over my head. “Yes and you need to get up,” he urged me. “I will, I just need you to help me close that freaking window that is opened, it’s so cold right now,” I begged. Lance looked at me, turning his head to the side, to watch my moves. “Okay,” he said slowly, then he walked down to the window and shut it closed. The wind stopped blowing right immediately, I muttered a thank you to him and he nodded, still watching me closely. Sniffing from the running nose I have had since last night, I walked down to the bathroom. I was nowhere near okay and it was not any better this morning. Lance had his suspicions but I could not afford to let him clarify it. He won’t let me out of the house or room again. Turning on the steamer, I let the water steam for a long
LANCEJust after one hit, she passed out. I watched Hayley stagger backwards, holding her nose that was hit before landing on the ground. At first I thought it was an act, so I moved closer to her to raise her hand up, but it fell to the ground instead. That was when I began to panic. She was really unconscious. The thought of me killing my own mate crossed my mind and I shuddered. Lifting her up, I began to run to the pack hospital. The sun was already rising and people were already beginning to wake up. I rushed into the hospital and took her to an empty wardroom. "Someone give me some attention!" I boomed when I realised no one followed me into the ward. Soon two nurses rushed in, checking her up. "Sir you need to go–""I'm staying here," I demanded. I was the alpha and she could not object as much as she wanted to. I watched them do their stuff and I could barely understand what they were doing. My ears focused on her heartbeat to make sure they were still pumping blood. It
HAYLEYSlowly, my eyes opened. The headache I had before had reduced to a more bearable percentage. As expected, my nose had healed. There was a figure hovering above me, it was blurry at first but then I caught a scent and realised it was Lance. “Lance,” I mumbled subconsciously. "No lay down," he said quickly. "What is going on?" I asked, groaning. "You're alright, I was just about to call Dorcas," he smiled warmly at me. “Why what happened?” I asked, frowning at the needle in my hand. “Why am I even here?”I remember us training and I remember falling down but I didn't even know I went unconscious or it was serious enough to be in the hospital. “It’ll make sense to all of us eventually, I promise you that,” he held my free hand in his with a smile. He looked scared, I could even feel his fear. I suspected he knew what was wrong with me but would not tell it to me. He was calling Dorcas possibly because of me. “Am I dying?” I asked numbly. It was best I knew the truth earli
"Oh God!" Dorcas yelled. Then the spell broke with her gasping heavily for breath. Her eyes were wider than usual as she stared blankly at the ceiling. Hurriedly, I took the stone off me. It burnt my hands as I made contact, making me throw it to the ground. It had not burnt my chest when it was on it, but it did when I picked it up. "Hayley what have you done," she asked not even looking at me as she spoke. "What is that supposed to mean?" I raised a brow at her. Lance barged in, staring at the two of us with suspicious eyes. "Has the spell been completed?" Lance questioned, still standing at the door, not wanting to come in. He thought he was going to spoil something if he did come in and the spell was hit. "Yes, we all need to talk. This is more serious than I thought," Dorcas said in fear, her body trembling. Probably because the spell she was performing was powerful. "What is going on?" Lance walked right in after the invitation. "Hayley, think well, who have you offende
We had been stuck in the library for hours, roaming through the witches section, looking for spells and how to break or trap them. There was no use, but Dorcas and Lance did not seem like they were giving up so soon. The place was as usual, empty but with books neatly arranged. I remembered that Lance had brought in some new section of books, he called it the fiction section. It made children come here a lot but since we had gotten there a little too early, there was no one around. So we locked the doors behind us as we walked in. The dust from dragging out a big old book of spells made me sneeze and begin to cough out. Lance noticed and he rushed to me, collecting the book from me and dropping it on the table that was near. He waved his hands in the air, as a means of waving off the dust so I could stop sneezing. Then he glared at me. “What?” I frowned. “If you just give it back–”“Out of the question,” I cut in, glaring back at him. “A normal person will sneeze when they come
“What the hell is wrong with me?” I asked rhetorically. “Are you sure you are alright?” Lance asked again. “What, no. I can’t feel my legs. Why can’t I feel my legs?!” I panicked. Oh shit I could not move them. “What the hell is this?!” I screamed at him, not caring if I caused unnecessary attention or not. “Calm down Hayley,” he said to me. “Grey go and call Dorcas, she’s in the library. Sonia help us to call Mr Jones, he’s in the hospital. Tell them to meet us in my room. Now.”They both nodded and sped right past us after Lance ordered. He held me by my waist and lifted me up bridal style, walking to our room. When we reached the room, Lance placed me gently on the bed. Brushing my hair to the side, he whispered soothing words to me. “Why can’t I feel my legs?” I asked for the umpteenth time. “Will I be able to walk again?”“Shh, that is how it is. Your body is trying to adjust to the illness, it happened to me too. With the help of a witch and a doctor, you will be alright,”
"The witches are at the castle with Vladimir" Grey told me, offsetting my balance. "What?! What are they here for? Did he tell you?" I asked, my breath hitching. If they were here for war, then I am truly fucked. At this point, I'm at the brink of losing my mind over my face, I can't tolerate any more adversities. "He said they are here for a truce" "Truce? The witches?" I looked about the hall to make sure no one was eavesdropping or nearby to hear what we were saying. "I can go and bring them here. Lucas said they had come last night but he didn't want to bother us until he confirmed they didn't use that as a camouflage" "They slept in the castle?" My eyes widened in rage. The witches are not allowed in my castle. Whatever their aim is for coming, they belong in the bush, not in a place like mine. "They left for the hotel nearby. Lance, I think they are here for good. From what Lucas said, he overheard Vladimir threatening Zara that he would make her suffer just like her peopl
When I reached the hospital, I went straight to meet my friends who happened to be in the room where Sonia was still with her baby. But this time instead of the happiness that was on her face when I left her earlier on when she gave birth, her face had gloom etched in them. She waved me to her when I came in and encumbered me in a long hug "I'm so sorry Lance, we tried everything to stop her but she wouldn't listen to us. I would have done more but you know Harley" I took her hand and kissed her knuckles "it's not your fault... I have cleared the mess. I just hope she recovers. Then this would be in the past" "What did you do to her?" Grey and Mike chorused. I exhaled thinking about the scenario that just took place at the dungeon before I came "I killed her after making sure she suffered. I tortured her with whips, and saying it right now makes me want to feel the joy I felt from back there" No one said anything, just nodded their head. Nonetheless from their faces, I could tell
LanceI rushed into the hospital shouting at the top of my voice for all the workers, who ran to me taking Harley from me. Grey was by my side tears gathered in his eyes. I have never cried as much as I cried today after she passed out."Doctor you have to do whatever it takes to restore my mate I beg you," I tell the pack doctor. Dorcas was weakened from the charm she had to pull off at the battleground, if not she would have been the right person to do this."Alpha, I will do everything I can to help our Luna if I can, I promise," He said and closed the door after him, keeping me out."Lance!" Petra ran out from another part of the hospital reminding me that they were still here. "What happened? where is she?"I couldn't say anything to anyone right now. I needed to hurt someone anything for what just happened."Grey what happened?" she asked Grey when I wasn't forthcoming with any answer "Someone say something!""I think we lost her" Mike said slowly just walking into the hospital.
The minute she was about to stab me with the sword, I closed my eyes waiting for her to give me the final blow that would take my life but it wasn't forthcoming. Then as if wanted to open my eyes to see what stopped her, something else happen. I was pulled from the ground I was kneeling and elevated to the sky all my strength returning to me.I looked about me in shock, my mouth open, my eyes wide and my hands spread wide. I looked about the battlefield and saw that the dome was now open and standing there was none other than Dorcas in a very complicating posture. She was shinning brightly with her hands pointed to me, her eyes bearing fire in them.I was still mesmerized with what is happening until I began descending until I reached the ground, my feet touching down a few feet from the wide-eyed Elena."Harley" She mouthed in awe.I was looking about my body to notice that I was no longer feeling any pain. It looked like I have been totally healed, with my body surging with so much
Harley After I saw the blood on my hand, I knew that Lance was going through something and needed my help. I didn't know how I was going to help him, I just knew I had to go there to help him in any way that I can. I had told my friends and they had tried to convince me not to go on, insisting that I don't leave. I was more than grateful that Petra had arrived so she could stay with Sonia, while I go in search of Lance to see if he was still okay. After what seemed a futile exchange with them, including Sonia trying to blackmail me emotionally into staying, I had left them my legs leading me straight to the Northern part without much resistance or search. When I entered the battlefield I was nearly overcome by the stench of blood mixed with sand oozing from the field. I stood at the entrance, scanning my eyes about until they landed in the familiar body of Lance swaying to whatever Zara had done to him. Before I knew it, I was running straight to him meaning to stop her from hurt
"Harley what are you doing stop it this minute go away!" I told her shaking my head vigorously as she stood and faced Zara."Awwn, isn't she so sweet Lance, look she wants to take your bullet" Zara riled, clapping her hands. By now the others have stopped crowding closer to see us. Grey ran to my side in concern but I pushed him toward Harley "You have to stop her I beg you" I saw the uncertainty on his face."Zara, you promised you will not hurt us, why are you doing this? I thought we had an understanding?" Harley forged flailing her hands about."I made no such stupid promise Harley, I wouldn't be so foolish as to say that after what Lance did to me and my people" Venom was laced in her voice as she uttered it."Please Zara we can settle this without any fracas" Harley reasoned at the adamant ZaraZara started rolling her hands about once more "I think I have overstayed my welcome Harley, it's time for your Lance to pay for what he did" she was talking and still rolling her hands a
LanceLooking at the way Harley was holding unto that baby, I experience a kind of contentment and joy I never knew I could. I was amazed at how beautiful and perfect the baby looked in her arms. When she asked me to hold him I nearly passed out with fright. Me, hold a baby. I have never held a baby and the very notion of holding one was flabbergasting. For once I wanted to decline but the look on her face doesn't brook any argument so I had to take the pup in my arm.It was incredible the way I felt once the child was in my arm and Harkey was close to me still cooing to him. I imagined what it would be like for us to have our child, which made my heart soar when I thought of the fact that he or she was on the way already. My eyes instinctively found hers smiling when I saw her touch her stomach earlier on, thinking how our baby would baby look."Touch him like this" She had instructed me on how to tweak the rosy cheek which I did, eliciting a hint of a smile from the little one. Wow,
It has been a week now since the letter was sent to the witches but there was yet to be any response from them. I had rushed back that day to stop the letter from going, being that I have a new resolution, only to find out that the omega had sent it. Ever since then, I have been training seriously and waiting for them. It happened just as we had envisaged. The witches didn't attack as they had promised. Three days have passed and now it's the seventh day. Nothing. "Lance, are you going to stand there doing nothing or come to help me button up my dress?" Harley whined from where she is standing struggling with her morning dress. "Harley, don't you think this dress is too big for you? " I taunted her to see her blush through the mirror. I relished in seeing her blush whenever I riled her up. She soon regained her feistiness, swung her hair, and huffed out loudly "Say all you can Lancelot, you can't piss me off this morning" she applied a rouge lips gloss on and picked her bag from t
"What?!" How can they say such? And why would they even inform me in the first place? They have been attacking for a long time and haven't given me any time why would they suddenly start giving me a hint as to when they would come?"This is fishy. I smell something awkward" I said my thought aloud."I think so too" Grey concurred "The witches never give notice before an attack." he confirms my fear "I think it's a detour deception" He forged on "They want you to think they are coming in three days and prepare for that, then boom they attack tomorrow or next"That was exactly what I thought. I started strolling in the direction of the terrace. This is becoming daunting. I swore a long time ago not to fight in a long time to come but the witches are really getting on my last nerve. I'm working hard to be on their good side so that they would lift the curse that was ravaging my mate but that doesn't mean I'm a fool or don't know what I'm supposed to do."We would prepare Lance. This is
