Chapter Fifteen: The Invisible Man

But she can't help herself but to hide their relationship, as she's afraid and concerned on what people will say about it.

Amanda lets out a big, helpless sigh after she went back the memory lane. Many years have passed, but her love for Oliver is getting stronger. But the problem is, she is engaged to be married to Emmett Montserrat, and she doesn't know how to get out from this messy situation.

She helplessly climbed into her bed and hugged her pillow in a fatal position. She started crying silently, until she was able to fall asleep...

OLIVER DOE

It's Friday in the evening, and it's also his day off from work. Instead of just taking a relaxing time and good rest at home, he decided to hit the bar and drink alone, just to forget all the pain that he's feeling deep within his heart, even just for tonight. He's been thinking that he deserves to have a good time, after so long... 

Everyone at the bar seems to be having a great time, and he feels like he's the most depressed and desperate inside this bar.

While drinking his heart out, he remembers the time on how he and Amanda met for the very first time, and how their lovestory can be likened to Romeo and Juliet...

*FLASHBACK*

He's a newly-hired security guard at the Etoile Cosmetics Building. He just finished a vocational course, which is connected to electronics and manufacturing. He's been looking for a job that is somehow connected to his vocational course, but he's really having a hard time with his job hunting.

That's why he decided to work as a security guard just to pay the bills and for his everyday living as well. And he must say that the Etoile company really pays well, and the employee benefits are satisfactory.

He woke up early in the morning because the Head of Security, Mr. Donald Wilkerson, scheduled him for the morning shift for two weeks. One of his responsibilities is to guard the main entrance if Etoile Cosmetics Building, which was still under construction at that time.

After a few hours, he is now standing at the main entrance of Etoile Cosmetics building. He thoughtfully frowned when he saw a young girl walking towards his direction. The girl is wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers. His hair is tied in a ponytail. He frowns, while he is starting to wonder what could a teenage girl be doing here at an early morning? Maybe she got lost or something?

Well, whatever the reason is, he needs to tell her that the building is restricted to any unauthorized person...

And before the girl could step a foot inside, he immediately stops her.

"I'm sorry Ma'am, but an unauthorized person is not allowed to enter the building's premises." he politely informs the girl.

The girl frowned in return, and then she decided to speak.

"Oh, really? You won't ask me who am I first?"

This girl is so stubborn, but he needs to be more patient with her.

"Please, this is for your own good. This building is still under construction, and it might be dangerous especially for a teenage girl just like you." he tries to reason out.

The girl's eyes widened in shock, as if he said something wrong.

"Did I say something wrong?" he wondered to himself again.

His confusion deepens when the girl started laughing out loud, as if there's no tomorrow. She laughed for a few minutes, and then she tries to open her mouth to speak once more.

"How old do you think I am?"

Oliver stared at her one more time, as he's trying to guess her age. But he is pretty sure that this girl is still young.

"I'm guessing that your're seventeen years old?"

The girl laughed again as if he threw a joke with a great punchline.

"What seems to be so funny?" he asked again, while frowning at her.

The girl was about to say something but she wasn't able to do so when Mr. Donald Wilkerson suddenly came in. He was the Head of Security at that time...

"What a pleasant surprise to see you here, Miss Amanda Montserrat! Are you visiting the building today?" Mr. Wilkerson greeted her.

"Oh, good morning, Mr. Wilkerson! It's so nice to see you again. Yes, I'm here to do a quick. tour of the building." the girl smilingly informs Mr. Wilkerson.

"Of course, we'll be more than happy to escort you around, Miss Montserrat. Oliver and I will tour you around." Mr. Wilkerson suggested.

And that was the stat of everything.

When Etoile Cosmetics started running, he and Amanda became good friends. As their friendship deepens, he is also starting to feel something special for Amanda. He tried his best to hide his real feelings towards her because they are both from different worlds. And besides, there's no way that a CEO will fall inlove with an average guy like him.

But in the end, he listened to his heart, and he mustered all his courage to confess his feelings to Amanda. And much to his pleasant surprise, Amanda accepted his love and she said she feels the same way towards him.

He felt like he won a million bucks, and he feels like he's the luckiest man in the world.

They became a couple, but Amanda asked him to keep their relationship a secret. His girlfriend said that she's not yet ready to reveal their relationship especially to her parents.

And because nobody knows that they are dating, Amanda's parents decided to match her with Emmett Albreicht who is a young, rich bachelor who comes from a family of hoteliers...

The love of his life is now arranged to be married to another man.

His mind stops travelling down the memory lane, and he finally went back to the present time. Up until now, he's been trying to persuade Amanda to elope with him so that they can get married and have a family of their own.
