"So what if I did? We are officially husband and wife now," Dominic whispered, his face looking incredibly seductive.
Gwen panicked, trying to distance herself from him. "Don't get any ideas!"
Dominic grew even more playful, moving closer to Gwen, who kept maintaining a safe distance. The knock on Dominic's door added tension to the situation. "Grandpa is outside, let's show him we're enjoying our first night together."
Gwen's eyes widened at the mention of their first night; she had forgotten it was their wedding night. Dominic's phone rang again, and he deliberately showed it to Gwen.
"Look, Grandpa is calling me again. Let's show him we're a happy couple," Dominic teased, continuing to play with his wife.
"Don't be ridiculous. When I say no, it means no," Gwen said firmly. "I'm not pregnant yet, or we could cancel the honeymoon plans. Grandpa's outside, isn't he?"
The long-haired woman quickly got off the bed and tried to open the door, but Dominic managed to stop her. He grabbed her hand, picked her up, and showed her off to his grandfather.
Dominic opened the door while holding Gwen. "What's up, Grandpa?"
"What are you two doing?" the old man asked, looking confused and uncomfortable seeing his grandson in such an intimate pose. "Aren't you ashamed to act like that? What if it wasn't me who came?"
"Why should we be ashamed? We just got married, so it's not wrong to act like this. Besides, I have to show that I'm a normal man, right?" Dominic explained while kissing Gwen's cheek, ignoring the slap she gave him on his chest.
"Do as you please. I just wanted to make sure you were with your wife," Mr. Charles said, turning to leave.
"Oh, Grandpa, we've agreed to go on our honeymoon the day after tomorrow, right, honey?" Dominic said, looking at Gwen as if asking for help to make their next plan go smoothly. But it seemed his wife had a different thought; Dominic's behavior earlier made her feel unsafe, fearing he would be even more daring during their honeymoon.
"Gwen, why are you silent? Don't you agree?"
"Honey, why are you quiet? Didn't we talk about this before, and you agreed, right?" Dominic insisted, his tone pressing with every word.
"I – I agree, Grandpa. I agree with the plan," Gwen stuttered, glaring at her husband.
"Good, then prepare yourselves for the trip the day after tomorrow. It's quite far, so don't exhaust yourselves tonight," Grandpa teased.
Dominic and Gwen exchanged looks, silently agreeing that what the old man implied would not happen. After 'checking' on his grandson, Mr. Charles returned to his room. The young couple also went back inside their room.
"Put me down!" Gwen demanded, struggling in Dominic's arms. He then set her down. "Don't think you can carry me or kiss me again!"
"Why not? We're married. I'm obliged to fulfill all my rights," Dominic teased, his face looking very serious.
"I don't care. Or we can cancel the honeymoon tomorrow," Gwen threatened, clearly not joking.
Receiving such a strong reaction from Gwen, Dominic stopped teasing her and ended his act. "Who said I wanted to carry or kiss you again? I did that to make Grandpa believe we love each other and to restore my image as a husband."
Gwen rolled her eyes, realizing Dominic's actions were purely for his benefit. She regretted thinking badly of her boss but didn't feel like apologizing.
"So, do you still want to cancel our plan?" Dominic asked.
"I need proof that you won't repeat what you did earlier, so I can go on this trip feeling safe and comfortable," Gwen replied, instead of apologizing for her earlier suspicion.
"I can prove it later," Dominic said earnestly. "Don't worry, there's no Grandpa there, so I won't touch you at all."
Gwen nodded. "Good, I'll hold you to that."
"But I don't know if Grandpa might send a spy to watch us," Dominic added. "Maybe your reputation will be ruined, and Grandpa will be disappointed in you."
Gwen sighed deeply, not having considered that possibility. "I think this trip is going to be hell for me."
"Please, leave my room if you're going to overthink," Dominic said, dismissing her.
"What did you say? You're kicking me out? What if Grandpa sees me moving rooms?"
Dominic approached his wife. "Then what do you want? Do you want to sleep here?"
"No, but at least let me stay here a bit longer. Or you sleep somewhere else, you said you would rent another room," Gwen suggested.
"Not anymore, I prefer sleeping in this room," Dominic refused.
"Your words are really inconsistent, sir," Gwen muttered, annoyed with her boss's indecisiveness.
"I went through all the trouble of acting in front of Grandpa to restore my reputation as a loving husband. What if Grandpa's men see me leave and sleep in another room?" Dominic explained.
Gwen closed her eyes, finding Dominic truly irritating. He changed his behavior at will, leaving her no choice. "What if it happens to me? Grandpa will think I'm a bad wife for sleeping in another room."
"So what now? Do you want to sleep here or go back to your room?" Dominic asked.
"I'll sleep here, but don't expect to touch me! I won't let you touch me, not even a little!"
Dominic didn't respond, turning to the bed, grabbing a pillow and blanket, and lying down on the sofa in the expensive room. Gwen slowly approached the bed and lay down. The exhaustion from arguing with her husband disappeared, replaced by sleepiness, and soon she drifted off.
Dominic smiled, hearing his wife's steady breathing. He changed his position from lying down to sitting up. Deep inside, he was grateful to Gwen for participating in his act, even to this extent.
He never thought he would marry someone he didn't love, a young woman who sacrificed her future to help him. Memories of a woman from his past, who made him the man he was now, surfaced.
"It's all because of her. If she shows up in front of me, I won't give her a second chance," Dominic thought.
"Noisy!!"Dominic was startled by Gwen's sudden sharp voice. "Who's being noisy?""Don't make a sound," Gwen continued."This is my room, but you keep telling me what to do," Dominic retorted."Even though it's your room, I'm staying here too, so please cooperate," Gwen replied, grabbing a pillow and covering her ears. Dominic smiled again, puzzled by her behavior but also finding her amusing. The room fell silent once more, and Gwen's breathing became steady. Dominic, who was already sleepy, soon drifted off to sleep. Thus, the newlyweds spent their first night together. As night turned to dawn, Gwen, who was used to waking up early, opened her eyes. "One day has passed, today is a new day," she thought. She glanced at Dominic, still sound asleep on the long, comfortable sofa. Gwen got up, took a blanket, and covered him.She guessed that Dominic was cold while sleeping. After covering the handsome man, she headed to the balcony. Gwen always enjoyed watching the sunrise, the sky's vi
“Who?” asked Gwen, curious.“I don’t know, but he seems interested in you,” replied Dominic curtly.“Don't be jealous,” Gwen teased her husband.Dominic glared at her. “Who’s jealous? I don’t care who you go with as long as Grandpa doesn’t find out.”“Good then. Thanks for being such a good husband,” Gwen replied with a smile, though she felt hurt inside. She hadn't expected Dominic to say such things, confirming her suspicion that he never really wanted her from the start.“As a good husband, I need to protect you from that creep. Let’s get out of here,” said Dominic, grabbing Gwen's hand. They moved to another store, where Dominic wanted to buy new pants and asked Gwen to pick them out.“I won't choose anything in bright colors. How’s that?”“No problem, since I asked you to pick them,” Dominic replied. “Go ahead and choose; I’ll be back shortly, I need to meet a client.”Dominic left, leaving Gwen confused. She didn’t understand why he left so abruptly. Her confusion grew when a sto
“You must be hungry to be acting this way,” Gwen quipped, though she still felt something was off about her husband.“I’m serious. Don’t take this as a joke. We are husband and wife now. I’ve fulfilled my duties but haven’t received my full rights,” Dominic continued, his words leaving Gwen silent.“I’ll try to be a good wife, but when it comes to children, I’m not ready yet,” Gwen confessed. Before Dominic could respond, the waiter arrived with their food. “Let’s eat first. We can talk about this later.”Gwen agreed with her husband, and in front of them were several enticing dishes. They started with the young president’s favorite dish, eating heartily.Delicious food seemed to soothe and unite them. They enjoyed their meal together until the very last dish. After their bellies were
“What are you doing?” the old man demanded. “Or maybe you two fought, and Gwen left you. Come on, Dominic, you’re supposed to be on your honeymoon, why—”“No, Grandpa, we didn’t fight. Our relationship is fine, Gwen just went out to buy something,” Dominic interrupted his grandfather.“Buy what? Why didn’t you just send someone to get whatever you need?” the old man replied, still suspicious that something might be amiss between his two grandchildren. From a distance, Gwen appeared, panicked when she saw Grandpa standing in front of her husband's room door. She had no choice but to keep walking and start thinking of an excuse for why she was outside the room.Dominic felt relieved when he saw his wife walking toward them. “So, did you get what you were looking for?” Dominic asked his wife. Gwen, not knowing what her husband meant, became confused, especially when Grandpa also asked her.“What were you looking for?”“Something for women, so I had to go get it myself,” Gwen replied conv
"Oh my gosh, you scared me. I thought you were still asleep. Why are you here now?" Gwen asked, looking at the handsome man standing next to her."Did you think I’d sleep forever?" Dominic replied curtly. "I just have jetlag.""So, what did you mean by what you said earlier? I can't go back to the office anymore?""After considering it multiple times, I think it's better if you don't go to the office anymore. Stay home and be a housewife," Dominic suggested.Gwen walked towards her husband, saying, "Isn't there any other job? I'm not a mother yet, and I'd get bored," she rejected outright."Then work from home. Keep working as usual. Help handle office tasks from home," Dominic explained. Gwen seemed to ponder her husband's words. "What do you think?""Alright, I'll try working from home," Gwen agreed to her husband's offer."You ca
"Hey, new kid, what are you doing there? Where's the report I asked for?" said a woman to her subordinate."Well, Tsuri, I didn't dare to enter because both our bosses are currently in a—""I don't care, Gwen. The report must be done before lunchtime," the woman continued, walking away.Gwen, the young woman mentioned, chased after her. "But inside, both our bosses are arguing. How can I go in and ask for the report?" she explained."Did you eavesdrop on their conversation? That's rude!"Gwen made a cross sign with her hands. "I didn't eavesdrop; I just overheard it from outside.""Anyway, the report must be on my desk before lunch, period," said her superior.Gwen sighed heavily, confused about how to complete her task. With reluctant steps, she returned to the multinational company's office. After reaching the large office, she mustered the courage to knock on the door. However, the unexpected happened. The door opened from the inside, someone pulled her in. "Here she is, Grandpa. S
"Grandpa invited us to lunch, so we have to meet him," he said. The man turned around and headed towards the elevator at the end of the corridor."I need to tidy up my desk first, sir. And grab my bag," Gwen interrupted the man's steps."Hurry up, clean up. I'll wait downstairs."Gwen stood frozen, trying to convince herself that she was now going to lunch alone with her boss and his family. "Is this a dream?" she muttered while patting her cheeks. "Don't be too happy; he doesn't like women. You're just an excuse," she continued, quickly straightening her desk. Gwen didn't forget to put her phone in her bag. With hurried steps, she headed to the elevator. Fortunately, the elevator came quickly; she entered and pressed the button on the wall, aiming for the basement floor where the company executives parked their vehicles. In a few seconds, she had arrived at the parking lot.Gwen scanned her surroundings, fascinated by the rows of expensive cars. "Which one is Mr. Boss's car," she won
Dominic suddenly coughed after hearing his grandfather's question. He hadn't been thinking about marriage at all; all that occupied his mind right now was what the right reason to tell his grandfather that his relationship with Gwen had ended.Gwen felt the same way as she patted her boss's back. She contemplated what it would be like to marry someone as cold as Dominic. She also thought about her friends' reactions when they found out she was having lunch with both bosses."Isn't it better to get it over with quickly?" the grandfather continued. "Honestly, I'm very disturbed by that rumor.""I've told you how many times, Grandpa, if you trust me, there's no need to worry about that gossip," Dominic replied."I've gone from trust to doubt and back to trust. I've tried hard to explain to our clients about you, and I've closed my ears tightly, but that doesn't seem to be effective. It looks like they need to see you married.""There will be a response from them, saying I'm getting marri
