It was currently after two in the evening when Shen Jiang returned to the Gaming Department of the studio. After locking himself in one of the private rooms, Shen Jiang could no longer hold back his anger and punched one of the walls, barely leaving a dent in it. Shen Jiang was angry, no, completely furious about what had taken place in the meeting room.
Having vented on the wall, Shen Jiang sat down on a suitably comfortable recliner chair and put his gaming headset before logging into the game. For now, he needed to get a start on his new assignment, but he definitely wasn't happy about it.
The last thought that he had before he lost consciousness and entered the game was, 'Don't think this is over by a long shot, Yin Jia Rong. As soon as I manage to stabilize this, I will get you back for this. You as well, cousin.'
The reason for Shen Jiang's anger could be traced back to the meeting that just ended between the boss
It was currently after five in the evening and Kirou's shift had just ended. After packing up his things, changing his clothes, and saying goodbye to his fellow security guards, Kirou left the security office and made his way to the entrance of the building. As he was walking, Kirou was currently going over the details of the demonstration he had to do later. While he wanted to help both Reya and Navi out, Kirou wasn't too keen on showing off his true ability. With that being said, Kirou was now trying to decide how much of his ability he should show. As he made it down to the first floor, Kirou passed by a few members of the gaming studio moving about and bid them farewell for the evening. While most had returned his greetings or simply waved back, there were a few that completely ignored him. Kirou only shrugged at this before making his way out of the building. Now that Kirou was on the street, he started to make his way to the subway sta
The group of a dozen players all stared at Kirou after he removed his hood and introduced himself to them. They took note of his human-like features and his darker skin tone and just dismissed Kirou as another human player with nothing strange about him. As for the tribal tattoos signifying that Kirou was a halfling with Lycan blood in him, the current armor that Kirou wore hid most of it, and the parts that the group saw were thought to be part of the armor design. As the group observed Kirou, so too did Kirou observe them. Looking over the entire group, it was a mix of both elf and human players, with just one female dwarf player on the side. Kirou wasn't sure if he should think that the higher-ups for Sanming were biased towards the humans and elves for their beauty but this lineup before him just doesn't allow him to think otherwise. This was especially so when he noted that only the dwarf amongst the group seemed like a bonified crafter.
Following the hit to the head by the giant hammer, the shadow wolf was sent barreling away and crash-landed into a tree before it fell to the floor. Naturally, this was followed up by a huge damage figure in red appearing over the now whimpering shadow wolf's head.<Critical>[-1015]All persons and monsters in the area were stunned into silence at the scene. While the wolves were growling at the sudden change in the situation, the players were stunned stupid by the site of Kirou's current figure, as well as the high damage figure he just pulled off with one hit of that comically large hammer in his hands. While everyone else was stunned, Kirou was busy looking over the result of his attack, as well as the weapon in his hand. As if talking to himself but loud enough for the others to hear, Kirou spoke up, "This is a nicely made hammer. That swing felt so nice and the power delivered by the hit was quite good
Both men selected a corpse and got into position. While the thief, Short Fuse stuck to the knife in his hand, Kirou took out a small toolkit filled with various 'tools' from his inventory. The Sanming Sect Master and the rest saw this but most of them thought that he was just pretending. Kirou ignored their thoughts and started on his corpse with an unenthusiastic expression and an unhurried pace.Short Fuse saw Kirou start working at a slow pace and outwardly sneered before he too started working on his corpse. Like that, both men went about dissecting and dismantling the corpses of the shadow wolves before them. The rest watched as both men worked in silence, one set thinking that they will oust the faker while the others furrowing their eyebrows in confusion. After three minutes, Short Fuse had just finished working on his corpse when he turned towards Kirou, ready to gloat, only for the words to die in his throat as he saw Kirou still wo
Kirou smiled as he heard everyone shout. This was the reaction that he was both expecting and looking forward to the most. Kirou waited for a few moments, giving everyone else the time they needed to calm down and collect themselves.Navi was the one who spoke up, "Before we answer that question, would you mind telling us your reason, Kirou?" Her words reflected the current thoughts of everyone in the room, whether they wanted to admit it or not.Kirou leaned back in his chair, interlocking his ten fingers before his face, hiding the mischievous smile that he was making. No one could see it, but the group could instinctively feel that he was making such a face as he spoke up, "I don't have a problem sharing my reasons with you guys since I'm asking such an unreasonable request."His words sounded like they were apologetic on the surface but Navi, Guardian Knight, and the female elf thief could hear the mirth laced within
It's been three days since Kirou had concluded his deal with the Sanming Sect Master, Guardian Knight. During this period of time, while the Sanming Sect was busy making deals with the other major guilds and sects for their objectives, Kirou wasn't wasting his time either. Before the meeting between the two had even started, Kirou had already run through the majority of the scrap.... (cough cough) spare equipment in his inventory and storage, as well as a myriad of materials that he's found along the way.Although he hadn't gone all out with his crafting, Kirou had finished the remainder of his spare materials at the end of the first day. Since then, Kirou has been going around the various forests on the northwestern side of the Southern Continent, both hunting for new materials from the various monster and plant life and leveling up his three pets.So far, each of his pets has managed to reach level 18, while Kirou himself was a few kills a
It's was twenty minutes later that Shiroa brought Kirou to the area where he would be working. Just a few kilometers away from SC Pier City, in some unnamed forest, a large group of players was currently hunting every monster in sight, as soon as they respawned. Kirou raised an eyebrow at this but said nothing as the duo walked by all of these players. The duo's entrance did attract the attention of the group, but besides taking a single glance at the duo, the group no longer paid them any attention as they took down the monsters before them. After walking for another five or so minutes, the duo finally arrived at an open clearing where a large number of monster corpses were currently piled up. Along with this, on one side of the clearing, there was a group of players currently working hard to harvest materials from the corpses around them. Sadly, this group was moving too slow. By the time they finished working with one corpse, two more had already disappeared
Shiroa wanted to say something but she didn't know how to answer. If she admitted it, then that was as good as saying that the Sanming Sect didn't honor their deals with others and that would be the end of the cooperation between Kirou and her sect. Conversely, if she denied it, that was the same as turning her back on Blade Warlord, directly before his men. This situation left her between a rock and a hard place. Fortunately for her, Kirou turned away from her and now had the smiling Blade Warlord in his sights.Seeing the smug smile on his face made Kirou's hands itchy. Kirou genuinely felt the urge to wipe that smug look off of Blade Warlord's face but kept his urge in check as he spoke, "You know what, I just figured out the best way to decide whether or not I join the Sanming Sect."These words caused everyone, Shiroa included, to lock their eyes on Kirou. Feeling a bit full of himself, Blade Warlord queried in a cheery tone, "And what
It's been a few days since Kirou returned to the with his new residents. During this time, both old and new residents worked hard to turn the shallow and empty area into a proper village. With the initial houses Kirou had built as a base and starting area, the village extended a bit into the forest, with the goal being to recover land for both farming and extending the village even further in the future. Unsurprisingly, all residents decided to keep living above ground, leaving the passage that led to the pier being the only path they trod. In contrast, the remaining floors were left for Kirou's purposes after all the excavation work was complete. Speaking of the excavation work, Kirou was given a surprise earlier that day when he explored the two floors situated above the pier and below the village on the surface. It seems that during the time that he was away from the village and holed up in the pier area after returning, his residents had come together to fully ex
The Garuda player and his squad from the guild have finally returned to the Seaside Village. Unlike the trip to the pirate hideout that took 5 hours, the return trip only needed half that time. The Garuda player mainly returned here instead of continuing his hunt or returning to his guild as he was curious to see the results of that quest he never got the chance to finish. He was also interested in seeing if he would be able to meet that strange Lycan player he had initially pursued. Unfortunately, his second wish would go unanswered for quite a time. Upon entering the location of the Seaside Village, what greeted the Garuda player and his squad was essentially a ghost town. The village lacked any sign of life and it looked like its inhabitants were in quite the rush to leave. At this point, one squad member, a Lycan, spoke up, "Looks like these guys wasted no time in making themselves scarce as if wanting to avoid us like the plague. What say you now, Boss?" The G
Returning to the moment the Garuda player and his squad had entered the Drarven Village turned pirate camp, Kirou and the former captives have now arrived at the shores of the Seaside Village. He had already guessed what had happened when he found the Village Head's son as one of the captives on the pirate ship, but seeing the current state of the Seaside Village forced a deep sigh out of Kirou's mouth. Even then, he still had a job to finish, so he shook his mind free of their random thoughts and focused on what was ahead of him. Seeing the pirate ships coming close, the remainder of the village was once again arming themselves for combat. Sadly, there were a lot fewer able-bodied persons capable of fighting this time, so morale was at its absolute worst for the villagers. Even the Village Head, the fiercest fighter in the village in the previous bout, was now struggling to raise his weapon in the face of the returning pirate crew. From a glance, it was quite apparent to these vill
Kirou was currently making his way back to the Seaside Village via the ships used by the pirates. He needed a secure way to transport all the women and children that were captured back to the village without injury and in a timely manner, and .... it's not like the previous owners had much use for these ships anymore. As for controlling and navigating the ships themselves, Kirou had no part in that as he lacked the necessary experience and skill needed to do so. Instead, this job was taken over by the captured women that were previously held captive in the resting area of the camp by those pirates. Apparently, they were part of a crew of sailors that got captured at sea. Their ship had recently gone through a bad storm and most of the crew got injured in the process. Those that survived the storm thought that things would be fine when another ship passed by in their time of need. Sadly, their hopes were dashed as this ship was filled with pirates. When the pirates found and boarded
While all that was going down back at the Seaside Village, Kirou was already making his moves in the enemy stronghold. It's now been fifteen minutes since Kirou initiated his plan. Stealth and subterfuge were the game's name, and Kirou had to make severe commitments to follow through on his plans. He started out by summoning two clones, which he then sent to specific places to hide until he gave the signal. Following this, he rushed back to the cave where the kids were being kept captive. Unlike his prior visit where most of his was spent searching for their location, this time he would be able to deal with them without as much trouble. That said, he remained hidden in a dark spot while watching the actions of the captors and their captives. As he did this, he silently retrieved an item from his inventory. It was a small canister-like object that almost anyone would recognize if they saw it. Besides the main body in this cave, his clones pulled out similar objects, a few of whic
After leaving the village, Kirou has been heading northwest for roughly two hours. During this trip, he made multiple adjustments to his heading after using his skill to investigate his surroundings. The downside of this was that he had to chug down multiple potions to replenish his quickly spent [MP] after each trip. It was at this time that Kirou slowed and silenced his steps. This is because the stronghold for those human traffickers was within his sights. Having stopped behind a tree, Kirou calmed his breathing and steadied his heart rate. After doing so, he peered from behind the tree, gazing at his targets going about their business in the large base. The base itself was an abandoned seaside village that seemed to have been occupied initially by dwarfs. Along with a few lodging houses, there were a few paths dug into the hill directly behind the houses. The houses themselves were spread out and made in a style similar to inns, but the size of the windows
A few weeks have passed since Kirou had the discussion with both Cain and Jackson by the underground lake. Unlike the empty and somewhat desolate space that it was before, the underground lake was starting to look like a proper workspace for ships and people alike. More buildings had been constructed on the land area, with one side set up to properly reflect a shipyard and the other to reflect an underground harbor for ships. As for the water, multiple ports had been erected for both ship and civilian use. Hell, a few small boats were already making use of the new docking facilities that were recently created. As for how this happened, Kirou could only say that he got extremely lucky with his excursions outside the <Phantom Palace>. *******Flashback******* *Three days after the discussion with Jackson and Cain* Kirou was currently farming mining resources points.
It's been a few hours since Kirou and his group, along with the recent additions, returned to the <Phantom Palace>. Kirou only left some instructions with the girls and Mistaken Fox for the former bandits while he invited both Jackson and Cain to follow him to the underground pier. The trio was currently sitting around a small table, Kirou drinking some tea while both Jackson and Cain stared at him in confusion. This went on for a few minutes before Jackson spoke up. "Young Master, would you mind explaining why you've brought both of us down here?" Cain maintained his silence, but he gave a slight nod in agreement to Jackson's words. Kirou only glanced at the duo for a few moments before turning his eyes to the waters of his underground port. As soon as he finished his tea, Kirou spoke, "I'll be leaving for the <Beast Continent> within the next two weeks." T
Kirou and Jackson took a few minutes to work out the finer details of the <Blood Oath> that they wanted Cain to make. During this time, Cain genuinely contemplated committing suicide multiple times. The reason behind this was that neither Kirou nor Jackson bothered to lower their voices during their discussion, allowing Cain to hear all of their depraved ideas to include in the oath. The thought of escaping entered Cain's mind multiple times, only to be dismissed almost immediately. Not counting the fact that he was injured at the moment, even if he wasn't, he still had to contend with the creatures surrounding him. And even if he could somehow get through those creatures, there was still a large group he had to fight through, not to mention both Kirou and Jackson. With those thoughts in mind, Cain resigned himself to the whims of the two bastards holding him captive. Both Kirou and Jackson could see that Cai
