Chapter 3

After signing, Chad passed the divorce agreement, together with the bank card to Jojo and left.

Taken by surprise, Jojo turned to Matilda. "He didn't want the card!"

"I know. Whatever floats his boat! I need to take care of something. You may leave now!"

Matilda said with a straight as she pressed the window shut.

Immediately after, tears rolled down her cheeks.

After Matilda departed, Jojo dialed Matilda's house phone number.

Logan Sachs, Matilda's father picked up the phone and Jojo recounted the divorce process.

"Ms. Sachs offered Chad 1.4 million dollars and a villa before he agreed to the divorce!"

"Really? That's fantastic!"

"Of course! Chad's no match for Ms. Sachs. After the divorce, Ms. Sachs will find someone better. Uncle Logan, I gotta go. Bye!"

After hanging up, Logan was overjoyed and he shouted out loud.

"Celine, John, I have great news! Matilda and Chad are divorced!"

Logan patted his lap out of joy and he felt like a weight lifted off his shoulders.

After hearing the news, Celine Myers walked out of the kitchen, laughing and rubbing her hands. She was over the moon.

"Really? Finally, we've gotten rid of that b*stard. I never agreed to their marriage. Chad does not match up to my daughter!"

John Sachs, Matilda's younger brother rushed out from his bedroom. Wearing a thick, gold chain and a huge gold watch, he looked like a typical new money.

Ever since Matilda's business became successful, he became lazier and more idle.

He often caused problems and spent money on water. He thought he deserved to spend his sister's money.

"My sister is divorced. That's awesome! We must celebrate this day!"

Logan said happily, "That's for sure. Ms. Fonsey just called and said Chad only agreed to the divorce after being offered 1.4 million dollars and a villa. It wasn't easy!"

Immediately, Celine's face changed and she yelled out of rage.

"What? In a divorce, the man should be paying the woman. How can it be the opposite? That can't be it! We must get the money and the villa back!"

However, Logan wanted to put the matter to rest and said,

"It's considered great that he agreed to the divorce. Let's not complicate things and push Chad to the limits!"

"Bullsh*t!"

Celine glared at Logan with contempt and said, "Chad is a loser. He'll never be pushed to his limits. We must get the money and the villa back!

He was dependent on my daughter for the past three years. He should be grateful that we didn't make him pay.

It's ridiculous that my daughter has to give him money and a villa!"

John followed suit. "That's right! My sister is just being silly. If I were in her position, I'd make him lose everything he has!"

"I agree! I must make Chad lose everything he has. John, let's go get the money and villa back!"

Celine's words further boosted John and he held her hand, about to leave.

"Great! When we get the villa, there'll be no need to tell Matilda about it. It'll be mine!"

"Of course, it'll be yours. From now on, whatever belongs to your sister also belongs to you!" Celine said it like it was a matter of fact.

Logan did not have a chance to speak but could only watch them leave. He shook his head helplessly.

In the Sachs household, Celine was the one wearing the pants. She would make the final decision.

Since Matilda's business became successful, she caused Chad and Matilda many problems.

Earlier on, Celine made Chad and Matilda hold a new wedding, making Chad a live-in son-in-law at the Sachs family.

After being rejected by Chad, she started finding fault with him, doing all she could to separate Chad and Matilda.

Now, Celine could not bear to see Chad taking a part of Matilda's assets after the divorce.

As they spoke, Celine and John got into the car and drifted off to the town of Bloomington.

Back at the villa, Chad felt a wave of emotions as he stared at the luxurious interior design that made the villa look like a palace.

At that point, he stood in front of a wall that was full of certificates and trophies.

Bloomington's Outstanding Entrpreneur, Bloomington's Top Ten Entrpreneurs, Bloomington's Top Ten Women.

Those were the awards received by Matilda since she started her business. It was hard for everyone else to even be awarded one but she had many of them on her wall!

Because of that, Matilda had charmed many young men who would willingly submit to her!

But, Chad was laughing.

He was laughing out of helplessness!

Chad thought he was being ridiculous. The things that he gave up for Matilda were far more valuable and important than those trophies and certificates.

At that moment, he thought he was being foolish for believing that he could grow old with Matilda!

Life was unpredictable. Matilda turned her back on Chad so abruptly and caught him off guard, leaving him in unacceptance.

What confused Chad even more was that, did he not do enough for the past three years?

Being honest with himself, Chad thought that he had fulfilled his responsibilities as a husband.

Even his decision to sign the divorce agreement was to fulfill the promise he made.

Chad was a man of his word. When he married Matilda, he said to her once, "From now on, I'll give you whatever that you wish for!"

He meant every word he said. Over the past three years, Chad fulfilled his promises.

What Chad did not expect was that Matilda betrayed him.

Thinking to himself, Chad returned to his room and started packing his stuff.

At that point, he was filled with discontent, anger, and frustration. Chad thought he was a joke!

That was why he decided to leave the villa, the place where he was humiliated relentlessly!

After packing, Chad took a last look at the place where he lived for the past three years.

Finally, he was leaving the place that was once filled with his and Matilda's happiness.

As Chad stepped out of the door, his phone rang.

"Who's that?"

The sound of heavy breathing sounded over the phone as if the person on the phone was suppressing an intense emotion. After a while, a low voice sounded.

"Hi, is this Dr. Jennings?"

'Dr. Jennings?

'It's been so long since I heard someone calling me this name!'

Chad was surprised the person over the phone called him by that title. That was because anyone who called him Dr. Jennings had extraordinary status.

"This is Chad Jennings."

Hearing the confirmation from Chad, the person over the phone sounded excited, with a hint of a sob.

"Dr. Jennings, do you still remember our promise from three years ago?"

Immediately, Chad was brought down memory lane back to the day he married Matilda three years ago.
