"Argh!" I screamed in frustration when I remembered that kiss from last Friday.
"What got your panties twisted, girl?" Theo raised his brow at me.
"Nothing!" I answered more forcefully than I intended to. He shrugged and rolled his eyes.
I felt guilty and giddy. He has a chosen mate, for goodness' sake! I felt guilty that I'm giddy. But why would I feel guilty when my mother paired him with me? I wish I could just talk to her in times like this but she’s as evasive as my mate.
"We uh… kissed," I whispered as I'm unable to hold it in. I'm an extrovert.
"You whore! Oh my goddess! Who?! Is he hot?" He fired rapidly.
"Of course! It was my mate" I sniffed.
He looked at me with wide eyes.
"So, was it good?" His hand covered his mouth.
“I feel guilty about Yvette,” I muttered.
I looked at the floor in shame.
“Oh wow. You kissed your mate and you felt guilty because of some other woman who’s claiming your mate as hers? Please don’t be stupid,” he crossed his arms.
"Forget it. It happened last Friday and I haven't seen him since. It was just a kiss" I sighed. Maybe he and Yvette had a fight and he took it out on me? But what he said… Maybe, just maybe I have a chance in this?
"What, he kissed you and just vanished in thin air?! No claiming or showering you with sweet words?" He growled.
"He needs to be punished for disrespecting a goddess!" His eyes flickered from brown to silver.
"He is my mate, Theo! He can do whatever he wants with me!” I shot back and his wolf whimpered at the tone I used. A thunder rumbled from a distance.
“I’m sorry. This topic just gets the best of me,” I took calming breaths and looked at him with puppy eyes. I know it won’t work on him though because he is gay.
“You know, if people are observant enough, the two of you can’t hide the fact that you are mates. Looking back at the way he gazed at you at the Emergency Room back then. This attraction you both have for each other, it’s pretty obvious you know. If someone is as observant as me, you’ll be recognized as mates. I think that Yvette woman already knows that Alpha Hunter already found his mate but just she wouldn’t budge,” he pointed out and I nodded in realization.
“They’re staying for two more weeks, Theo,” I exhaled.
“I don’t think I can stop him if he does that again, nor can I stop myself from doing something like that to him if we ever find ourselves alone,” I started to tear up. Theo looked at me as if saying ‘duh’.
Oh, mother. Why hasn’t he claimed me yet? I want more than this physical tension we were building up. I want his commitment.
Someone knocked on my office door and a nurse greeted us.
“Hi Doc. Uhm, the Alpha of Everest pack is here to talk to you. Should I send him in?” she asked and Theo and I exchanged glances.
I nodded without thinking.
“Don’t be too easy, okay? You are Lux Irene Mooncrest, a half goddess,” he turned to me as the nurse vanished.
“I can’t think right now, okay?!” I snapped at him with shaking hands. My heart shook in anticipation.
He hissed at me and looked at my overall appearance.
“Why in the hell are you wearing your bunny slippers?! Go change into your heels. Hurry he’s coming!” he half whispered, half yelled.
My feet located my heels under my oak table and slipped them on just in time as his head popped in from the door which made me sit on my swivel chair accidentally.
“Hello, Alpha!” Theo greeted him and straightened up. He was leaning on the long tiled sink installed at my office for my experiments.
“Come in! I was just leaving,” he smiled pleasantly at him. He gave me a knowing look and went out of the room.
I cleared my throat when we were left alone in my office.
I stared at him. His hair looked so soft. I know they feel soft too. I clasped my hands together at the sensations I imagine if we ever get to touch again. His clean shaven jaw clenched and my eyes snapped back at his.
“Can I help you?” I asked in a small voice.
He looked around and his burning gaze snapped back at me.
“Yeah. I need you to check something,” he went towards the counter part of my sink and I reluctantly left the safety of my desk.
I stood next to him as he opened his phone’s image gallery.
“Do you recognize this plant? It doesn’t look exactly like wolfsbane but it looks like one,” he told me and I checked his phone which was lying on top of the counter.
I felt him shift behind me. He placed his left hand on the counter, his right gathered my hair in his fist. I gasped. I have never allowed anyone to get this close to me, let alone do something like this.
I felt pain from his grip, yet tingles erupted at unusual places in my body.
“You smell so good,” he muttered. His breath softly hitting the side of my neck.
“Alpha,” I managed to whisper.
He turned me to him and the look on his face froze me to the ground. Why does he look mad?
His gaze dropped at the outline of my square necked shirt and he growled.
“Mine,” he fisted my hair again and tugged on them to angle my face towards him. A moan involuntarily escaped my lips.
I felt his fangs start to elongate as he molded his lips against mine. I struggled against his hold but he was just stronger than me. His lips moved from mine to my jaw then to my neck. He showered small kisses to that part where wolves mark their mate. I shivered and whimpered.
“Yes! Yes! Mark me now, my alpha!” my wolf shouted in frenzy.
His other hand left my hair and cupped my face tenderly.
He stared at me. He was breathing heavily just like me.
My eyes watered. It happened again! I don’t know but I still felt sorry for Yvette and for myself.
“You have a chosen mate,” I whispered.
“Please. We can’t keep on doing this. What if she finds out?” I cried.
His thumb wiped my tears and pulled me in a crushing hug.
“But you’re my mate,“ he sighed and I cried in his embrace. I want to stay like this and freeze time.
“She won’t know,” he said as he held me tighter.
I looked away as he let go of me. Why can’t he just reject her and claim me instead? Isn’t that what he’s supposed to do? Does he know how he’s hurting me by keeping Yvette while doing all these to me?
“We can’t do this anymore,” I said without looking at him.
“Can you fight it?” he asked.
I glanced up at him.
“This pull. Can you fight it?” he asked again.
“Because if it feels as good as this, then I have no intention of fighting this,” he licked his lower lips.
“Then what are we if you have Yvette as your mate and luna?” I took calming breaths as this conversation is starting to hurt me in many ways.
“Just give me time,” he answered quickly.
“Are you out of your mind?” I asked in frustration.
“What do you want me to do, Irene?! Just reject her? What if she’s already bearing my pup? I need to weigh the consequences of my choices if I ever make one. It’s something you don’t understand.”
Lunox whimpered at his harsh words but I held my temper. I am determined not to cause a storm this time.
“So you will just keep me and her? Your mate as your mistress and your woman as your luna, is that it? You have no idea who you’re talking to, Alpha Hunter. Leave my office now,” I blurted and his gaze turned cold.
“I see. See? You don’t understand me” his jaw clenched.
Oh my goodness. If there’s someone who always has to weigh the consequences of their actions here, it’s me. My mood can freaking cause a snowstorm in summer!
“And as for the plant, no I haven’t seen anything like that before. You may leave now, Alpha Hunter. I hope our paths never cross again,” I said and went to sit behind my desk again without sparing him a glance.
He stormed off my office, slamming the door on his way out and I crumbled at my desk.
I stared at the door.
I didn’t mean what I said.
I would love to see him again even if he makes me feel less of a girl.
It was raining. Again. Alodia scrunched her brows at the weather as she hastily went inside the pack hospital. She almost bumped into Alpha Hunter who stormed off into the rain. The hospital staff greeted her as she entered the hospital vicinity. She marched to Irene’s office and went in after knocking.Irene glanced up at her aunt in surprise. Gold dusts shimmered at her cheeks. “So you have been crying,” Alodia stated. She glanced at the gold dusts on Irene’s desk and sat gracefully across her.“Tell me, who snuffed out our little sun’s warmth?”Irene’s eye began to water again and she blew her nose on a tissue. Alodia cringed.“I found my mate,” she muttered.“But he has someone else,” Irene added.“Am I really Selene’s daughter, Aunt Lo?” she stared at Alodia.“Oh, love,” Alodia went to her niece and hugged her.“Of course, you are the moon’s daughter, child. How else will you explain these gifts you have? And the moon shines brighter each year on your birthday. You even have her

Erick saw them too and called Irene immediately .Irene's phone rang and she let out a shaky breath. Her eyes welled up with tears. Tiny droplets of rain started falling outside. She felt betrayed. She doesn't deserve to be played like this. All her life she did nothing but keep everyone around her happy. Her phone kept ringing so she decided to answer Erick's call."Do you want to go somewhere else? I mean, some other bar. Just not here maybe?" Irene smiled sadly at his concern. 'Lunox?' she asked her wolf.'Go with him inside. I had enough of our mate. Let him see what he just lost,' Lunox told her in a serious voice."Irene?""You saw them too, didn't you?" Irene exhaled. "Where are you?" He asked as he exited his car and looked around. Irene wiped the corners of her eyes and got out of her car too.“Hey!” Irene smiled at him and his heart ached at how she can still smile despite the fact that her mate is inside with someone else.“Are you sure about this?” he asked for the nth t
Irene is beautiful, I will admit that without any second thoughts. She’s beautiful in an innocent way, you’ll mistake her for what humans call, ‘an angel’. But tonight… her beauty looked dangerous, like that of what humans call, ‘a siren’. There’s an electric hum around her that’s pulling you in, trapping you in a trance and making you forget you have a mate. I glanced around at the male wolves, mated or not, whipping their heads towards her, hypnotized by her beauty. So this is the beauty of the moon goddess’ child. I placed my arm at the table and turned towards her, giving her my full attention. Right now, nothing else matters. Just her. I clenched my fist as I learned from her that her mate is just at the other table, whose arm is around some other she-wolf. I waved at a waitress to get us drinks as Irene left to refresh herself. “Good evening, handsome sir. What can I get you?” she asked and I glanced at her nameplate. “Right. Uhm Inez, I need a bottle of whiskey and a glas
“What is so important that we have to meet here in my office?” Felix sat back on his swivel chair and crossed his arms. “It’s about Irene,” Alpha Hunter cleared his throat. It got Felix’ attention who sat straight at the mention of his cousin.“What about Irene?” he asked not getting where this conversation is leading to.“She’s my mate,” Alpha Hunter admitted and Felix’ jaw clenched at his confession.“You already have a mate, Hunter,” Felix said in a warning tone.“Back in the days, you know I always thought I don't need a fated mate. I can just choose anyone I like. I had more autonomy over my life. Then Yvette came and I thought she'd be a good luna for the pack. I married her two years ago and proclaimed her as my Luna,” he dropped his head on his palms, looking problematic.“And we’re expecting our pup,” he admitted. “Does she know?” Irene asked Hunter as they pulled up on the entrance of the amusement park. Hunter asked her to go out on a date out of town and without thinking, Irene agreed immediately."Yeah, she can't do anything about it anyway," Hunter watched his wide eyed mate and his heart fluttered. He looked away, his ears turning red."But she's on her first trimester. It might make her upset," Irene raised her brow at him and he smiled reassuringly.. "Let's not talk about her and enjoy this date please?" He pleaded and tugged her inside."Now darling, where do you want to ride first?" He asked in a very gentle voice.Irene hid her wide smile behind her baseball cap. She loves his accent so much!"Having an organism yet, girl?" Lunox laughed at the back of her mind and Irene turned fifty shades redder."Oh shut it! Don't embarrass me, Lunox," Irene chided her wolf but the latter only laughed out loud."Oh look, mommy! I sat panting on his passenger seat with wide eyes as his fingers delved deep into my core, dragging my juices out and licking his fingers clean. "Hunter…" "I like the sound of my name on your lips," he huskily said.I inhaled, about to say something but his phone started ringing, drawing his attention away from me. The caller' name is 'Yves'. His brows furrowed as he listened to the person at the end of the line."Alpha, Luna was rushed to the hospital because she was bleeding," the Yves guy informed him and I gasped in worry and guilt. I shouldn't have agreed to go out with Hunter. Who knows what Yvette did to herself for her to bleed. She's a warrior. She's strong and it's rare for pregnant werewolves to bleed, for goodness' sake!"Let's go to your Luna," I said as the call ended. He looked at me, puzzled."You heard?" He asked."One of my special abilities," I nonchalantly informed him. "Wow," he muttered and sped off from the amusement park. I looked back, smiling sadly. I
“Paging Doctor Irene Mooncrest, you are needed at the emergency room now.”“Paging–” I didn’t need to be paged twice to dash off to the emergency room. Wolves are fast sprinters, but I’m faster.Ragged breaths and wails of anguish greeted me as I entered.“What happened?” I asked no one in particular. Three men and two women are lying bloody on the stretchers. They are extremely thin and their clothes are tattered. Their hairs are cut in a careless manner. “Doc, they’re Evelyn, Rachel, Martin, Greg and Fredrick. The five pack members who went missing five years ago. They were found almost dying at the borders,” Theo explained. That’s… them? They’re unrecognizable. “Status?” I asked. “Critical, Doc. Still stabilizing the patient,” a younger doctor called out.“Same here, Doc,” Theo answered too and the others followed with the same answer.“Lock the doors,” I inhaled and began unclasping my necklace.I took relaxing breaths to contain my powers. "Yvette," Hunter slowly peeled her off him."I have to go to Alpha Mooncrest and ask for permission to take Irene with us," he informed her. My steps slowed down a little. How can I forget? Of course, Yvette is coming. She's his unofficial luna. "She's coming with us?" she sounded disappointed."Yes, I'm coming with you. Unless you can heal your packmates?" I butted in, tired of them ignoring my presence. "Doesn't your pack need you?" She asked."Your pack asked for my help," I answered. "After that, you'd leave, yes?" I smirked. "It depends on your Alpha."She hissed and clung to Hunter's arm. "Love, she's so annoying. Do we really need her?" She asked childishly. Is this pregnancy hormones or she's just really childish? "I need her, Yvette," Hunter answered exasperatedly and I bit my lip to stop myself from smiling. "We're about to have a child, love," she reminded him.I mentally rolled my eyes. As if anyone forgot about that. The walk to our packhouse was short. I inhaled.
