(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)

"You are such a pretty little thing."

Nauseated would be an understatement to what I felt as he meandered his finger on my clothed arm. I swiveled my face away but he clasped my mouth, turning my face to look into his lust-filled eyes.

"Don't look away from me, little thing. We are going to have a fabulous time together. I promise to make it worth it."

For once I felt I'd caught up with my limit letting this outmoded pervert touch me. But I couldn't believe I was doing this, coerced to sleep with a man twice the age of my father by my father and soulmate.

The thought made me scoff out loud and the smile on Mr. Smith's face fell over. He shrank his hold on my mouth, sifting his fingers into my cheek but it didn't hurt, not when I'd endured this same treatment from my parents and my soulmate, nothing new and nothing to flinch about.

"Shouldn't you be imploring and crying? That's what I was promised. If it doesn't come inherently, you might as well be synthetic

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)A day after the cessation of Mr. Smith, the cops turned up at my house.I schooled my expression as one of the officers analyzed me, searching for something that would give me away as the murderer of the rusty pervert. "What makes you think my son has a hand in the death of Mr. Smith? I assure you, he doesn't even know the man." Dad broke the silence that befall the living room."We never said your son has a hand in the murder of Mr. Smith. We caught footage of your son stepping into the room." The detective answered in a non-joking tone while continuing to keep his eyes on me, waiting for me to answer the unsaid question in the air. What was I doing in the room with Mr. Smith?"Mr. Smith is a business partner and I'd send Cameron there for business purposes. That's why he was seen stepping into the room." Dad chimed in again."Mr. Hernandez, I believe your son can speak for himself if you're not hiding anything." The officer pointed out.My mom gasped. "Off

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW) "Bend your body a bit." I did as the photographer instructed, moving my body and doing as he said and he flashed his camera on my face, taking shot after shot while I conserved the smile on my face. Being in the spotlight since I could walk, this was nothing but the usual. But when I looked over at the director sitting behind the photographer with his crew and Blaze, I knew he wasn't impressed and I was correct when a moment later, the man was rising from his seat and coming to stand beside the cameraman. "Can you be more human?" I gulped and the smile on my face plunged. I spruced up my posture and peered at the man as the question caught me off guard. I recouped the smile on my face. "What do you mean, Director?" He rasped. "I've worked with many people and I know when an artist is less human and you seem to be far greater than other actors." He took a step closer, staring deep into my eyes as if he knew something that others didn't. "You can fool o

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)It was rare that I found time to sit in front of my canvas in front of the doors leading to my balcony. The curtains and doors were wide open and the rays of sunlight shone on me.I brought the pencil to the board but instead of being subjugated with inklings as I usually did, my brain was blanker than a sheet but I managed a stroke.Painting and drawing were my safe space, my only narcotic and cure from the blitz of anger and hunger inside of me but right now, I needed a muse.I reeled my head, looking over to Rhys who was occupying my sofa and browsing through a magazine. Feeling my attention on him, he lifted his head and locked me with his goldish orbs. "Is there something you need, little human?"I let my eyes roam all over his body, capturing every piece. I'd seen him without clothes before but the image in my head was blurry, it wasn't clear enough to plant on my canvas. "Take off your shirt." I blurted. He crooked the perfect eyebrow, questioning."I

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)It was a Thursday and I was in my school's faculty building with a medic's coat over my outfit.School hours ended almost an hour ago but it was like there was a magnet keeping me rooted to my seat or I just didn't want to leave till I'd filled my stretch book with the perfectness of Rhys. His features were flawless and no matter how much I strived, I couldn't get his eyes right. Those sandy orbs looked like they could see through my soul and know my sinister desires but he already did and that was the sexiest thing ever.I scowled and leaned back in my seat as I noticed I'd drawn the shape of his eyes wrong for the third time. With a grunt, I opened another page and continued fresh work. This time, I must get those eyes right or I won't leave this building!"I knew I would find you here."The familiar voice of Blake had me freezing. What was he doing here? With my vigorous schedule today, how did he figure I would be here of all places?I cleared my throat a

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)"You disgust me, Cameron!"The words echoed again and again, making me snort. I looked at the bartender standing at the other side of the counter. "Can I have another glass?"He gave me a bizarre look, then I realized he knew who I was. Nearly everyone in this godforsaken club knew who I was but I didn't care. I just needed a bloody drink. He strolled over, leaning toward me to whisper. "I don't know if you realized but there are a lot of people watching you right now and I didn't see you walk in with a guard so I'm going to advise you to tone it down if you don't want to regret it in the morning." I smirked and leaned closer, our faces almost touching. "I regret a lot of things, pretty bartender but tonight, I don't care if the world ends." I moved away and gave him a grin. "Just give me another drink, my reputation can go into the gutter.""Alright then." He nodded, moved back, and poured me another glass of the strongest liquid I'd ever had.I brought the

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)“Do you know what you have just done?!” my Dad’s voice reverberated, and his eyes equally showcased how disgruntled he was. I peeped a glance at Mom, where she resided on a couch. I couldn't read what was on her mind and I didn't care at the moment to figure it out. I turned my attention to my dad when he unexpectedly reached out and clasped my arm roughly, making me meet his ferocious eyes. "Look and answer me when I'm talking to you, boy!" He snarled. "I worked so hard to get my company and this family where it is and all you do is ruin what I've built. You are good for nothing!" He let go of my arm with a shove that had me staggering and gaining my balance."All I did was yell at you to rectify your mistake but you ran out and went to some disgusting club and hauled our name further into the mud!" Mom finally rose from her seat, standing beside her husband.I clamped my hands in fists. "I didn't make any mistakes. I never slept with anyone to get my roles

[CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW]A groan left my throat at the awful pain in my head. Wait! Pain?!Shouldn't I be dead? Why was I feeling instead?Sluggishly, I opened my eyes, being overcome with the brightest of the room and once my vision cleared, I found myself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling and the beeping sounds coming from beside me made me realize I was in the hospital.Hospital, alive? How-“Good, you are awake.”I turned towards the voice, finding my mom occupying a hand chair. She stood up and advanced towards me on the bed. “Are you surprised to see that you’re alive?” she tsked. “Don't worry, I'm surprised too. The whole world is since your audacious act was caught on camera and now everyone thinks your dad and I are credible for your act of suicide and guess what, Mr. Charlie revealed this is not the first or second time you have tried to kill yourself, making us look bad in the public eye.” she sported a grin but there was something dark about it. It made me quake. She cont

(CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW)In this world, there has only been one person who has truly made me feel like I was a human with emotions—Charlie. He was the father I wished I had and made me feel less alone. Then Rhys appeared. He read me like I was an open book; he knew me like he knew the back of his hand. With him, all of my feelings were genuine; I did not have to pretend. And now there was Kai. Hours had passed since he entered my hospital room, and it appeared that he had no intention of leaving. We played game after game, and whenever we needed something in our stomachs, he always rushed out to get some. I realized in an instant that he was my first friend. With him, my smiles were outsized. The fact that I was no longer alone made me exuberant. I wished the moment had continued longer. My broad smile shrank, and my fingers immediately stopped tapping the phone's screen. When the door was pushed open and Blake was rushing in like a hurricane, I put the game on hold. He appeared

{KAI’S POINT OF VIEW}It was a Friday, so I left work early, picked Rai up from school, and we went to the restaurant. Once I parked the car, Rai and I stepped out. We were on our way out the door when my wrist was suddenly grabbed, and I turned sharply to see Ralph covered in a hoodie and glasses over his eyes.I beamed, “Ralph."He removed his glasses and looked down at Rai, who was looking at him with interest. “Who is this?”“This is Rai, my son.”His eyes met mine too quickly as if he had been struck by lightning. The expression nearly tugged out a laugh from me but I held it back. “You are married?” he blurted out.I shrugged. "Well, I have gone through two lifetimes without you; who knows how I will fare in this one?" Two could play the game, and he fell for it as his eyes darkened and he yanked me close to his face by the arm. He knew how I felt; he duped me into thinking he did not know who I was.“You are getting a divorce," he grumbled."Not in the presence of the child, Ra

[KAI’S POINT OF VIEW]Two lifetimes, three lifetimes worth of memories—they felt like a weight was placed on my shoulders—ones that were occasionally too much for me to bear.I recalled every lifetime I'd lived and every second I'd lived without having a clue where to find Ralph. Every time I failed, it felt like a needle was being pressed into my heart. This was my third life and I was 25. In this life, I worked as an architect for a decent wage, owned a restaurant with Rhory and Keir, and lived in an apartment in the middle of the city. Keir and Rhory were fortunate to have reunited as soulmates. They probably kept my memories to make me realize how much I was losing and probably laughed at my face as I failed to find Ralph in the lifetimes I'd lived. I sighed, slammed my pen on the table, and stopped trying to figure out a building pattern. "Dad." I raised my head in response to the tiny voice and discovered a tiny head with silver locks poking through the door. In an instant,

{CAMERON’S POINT OF VIEW}When Rhys entered the studio, I fell into a daze. I could barely say a word as he assisted me in locking up the studio, escorted me to his car, and drove us to his penthouse. When we were in a close space and alone, I threw my arms around him tightly and cried on his shoulder. I did not want to let go, and then his arms softly wrapped around my hips and drew me closer to his body.I had no idea how long we had stood here before he began to withdraw and clutch my face. His golden eyes were fixed on my face, and his thumb stroked it lovingly. "What do you remember?" He grilled."Everything," I replied unequivocally. "And I'm sorry. You lost everything because of me." Just when I thought I was done crying, more streamed down my cheeks as my mind was flooded with new memories. Was this the reason, despite growing up in a loving home and being surrounded by people who loved me, that I had always felt empty and alone? I had never felt whole, and I could not quite p

  • INTERNAL SIN   Internal Sin: 097

[CAMERON'S POINT OF VIEW]Many, many years ago, there was a world where everyone had a soulmate; some were fortunate to have been paired with the right one, while others were unlucky.According to what I have read, it was not always like that. Everyone was happy with who they were paired with until there was some sort of imbalance in the system and things got out of hand, and people started getting paired with people they were not compatible with. Soulmates abused and killed each other, but not anymore. Soulmates were becoming increasingly rare in the world I grew up in, and nowadays anyone could be with whoever they wanted without having to wait and look for their soulmates. When soulmates realize they love someone else, they usually break their bond.Well, my name was Cameron, a small-time painter with my studio in the bustling big city, and I did not believe in soulmates.Having a soulmate was not necessarily a bad thing; it would be nice to fee

[RAI'S POINT OF VIEW]As golden guardians, it was our responsibility to protect humans and ensure that they were happy with their soulmates, regardless of their background. It was a crime for a golden guardian to look away from his assigned human, and most importantly, we did not fall in love. It was an internal sin that resulted in an internal penalty. I recall the moment I realized Kai was in love with a demon. It was when he stopped wearing that cold face that the hardness in his eyes seemed to fade. He was more carefree and careless, and he was willing to give up his title just to be with that demon. I was happy as long as he was happy, but only if that demon shared his feelings.Kai wept before having his wings torn off and receiving his punishment, I recalled. Although it was inhumane to watch him suffer from the blast of thunder every hour, it was the penalty for an internal transgression. It took Kai a century to finally be born as a soulless human. As his best friend, I tri

[KAI'S POINT OF VIEW]As I watched him fall, it was like my heart was ripped out of my chest. I threw away my sword, catching him in my arms before he touched the ground. He continued to choke on his own blood. "YOU IDIOT! I TOLD YOU I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF. I DO NOT REQUIRE YOUR FUCKING PROTECTION!!" I yelled and grabbed his wrist, hoping to share my energy, but he yanked it back. "What the heck are you doing? You are going to die!""It's f-fine." He replied in a wavering voice. "Death does not seem so bad after all," he tried to joke.If he wasn't dying, I would have strangled him to death myself. I grabbed his hand and transferred as much energy as I could, but the more I transferred, the more blood he choked out. "What's going on? Why is it not working?" Panic gripped me as I realized he was becoming weaker, paler, and fading."My body doesn't accept your powers. They are just too much to handle." I felt my whole body twitching. "But you are half angel. Your body, a ha

[RHYS' POINT OF VIEW]There were only a few enchanted stones in this world that could take the life of someone as powerful as my father, and one of them was the forbidden crystal. It was not easy to obtain one, and for a demon, obtaining one meant suffering the ultimate punishment of losing half his life span. It was only a matter of time before I died without my wings or a source of power to keep me alive, but even if I only had a few hours to live, Father was coming with me. Getting to the cemetery on foot was a difficult task since I normally use my wings or vanish to get to my destination. I grasped the stone in my hand despite the hideous mark it'd left on my palm from taking it from its resting place. The flashes of light and thunder ahead of me told me there was a battle going on; I walked faster. When I arrived at the scene, however, I abruptly paused on my feet just in time as Ralph lost his wings and Kai unleashed a powerful blast that destroyed everything in close range.

[RALPH'S POINT OF VIEW]"I'm sorry," I muttered weakly, looking into his eyes, hoping he would understand. "Perhaps you forget we are still here." Xavier snorted. Cameron's gaze was on Kai when I turned around, and he had a cunning look in his eyes and a smirk on his lips. I shielded Kai's eyes from his evil gaze, but I was gently pushed aside. "I'm not some damsel in distress. I don't need you to protect me. I can take him out myself." He glared.I couldn't help the tiny smile that occupied my lips as he pointed his sword at Cameron and Xavier. "Now, who wants a taste of my sword first?" I stood beside him. He gave me a side-eye. "After them, you're next." He gritted, and I would gladly accept his blade."What makes you think you are a match for me?" Cameron smirked. "Let’s not make this difficult for you, darling; give me what I want, and you can sleep peacefully without worrying about whether you are a human or a golden guardian. You can come to me willingly, or I will come to
