Chapter 4: Married life

A few hours ago…

In the office, Annie sat on a chair, holding detailed reports about Vinwind and the PT workshop.

Assistant Steve stood beside to report: 

“Vinwind and the PT workshop are on a real estate project contract, it is a chain of interconnected hotels. In addition, the PT workshop is also intending to shake hands with your husband’s company- SC Tech to enhance their position as well as expand the market.”

Annie  turned the report over and then she asked: "Did the PT workshop have any grudge against us?"

Assistant Steve did not know what his manager was referring to, but he was still calm:

"No, they did not.”

"Is that so ..." Annie threw the report on the desk.

"Inform them that the project is suspended this time."- she continued.

“What? Are you sure? Why do we have to stop this project? Is it going very well?”- Steve was shocked when hearing the announcement.

“You don’t need to know about the reason, just do exactly what I did say? If the shareholders have any idea, tell them to come here to see me.”- said Annie.

Steve wanted to say something, but when he saw his manager’s steadfastness, he decided to keep silent.

Annie did not care about Steve, she was too busy with all the documents, information, and so on…

All the employees also felt the pressure but they couldn't do anything. They still had so many documents and the deadline to deal with, they didn’t have enough time to take some rest also…

Finally, under all efforts, the employees successfully proposed to Steve to report to the manager. They couldn’t stand it anymore!

Assistant Steve also knew that forcing employees to work too much will make them want to quit the job. That can affect this company a lot, so he asked Annie to let the staff stop working on time. 

When hearing that requirement, Annie thought for two seconds, then she decided to satisfy the request.

…

Now, Annie was standing in the bathroom, thinking about the problem that Steve had said to her. Suddenly, she splashed the water on her face, forcing herself to stay awake. Looking at the beautiful girl in the mirror, she felt regret. She has a pretty face, she is talented, and she has everything that a businesswoman has, but she couldn’t find true love. Her marriage is terrible, everything is just for money, and she never feels happy even for a second.

Her thoughts shifted from work to her beauty and finally turned to dinner today. Then she couldn’t remember what she was thinking at first.

After that, she dried her hair with a towel and stood on the side of the bed, looking over at the furniture which had been thrown on the bed. She sat on the bed, pulled the computer, and continued to deal with the remaining work.

Annie was looking for some information about her partner, she felts something wrong… Annie looked at the information on the computer. She read carefully all the information about the designer that the owner had collaborated with, then relieved. This information is almost useless. It was just about some interviews.

Annie put the computer aside and lay down on the bed. Her mind had all kinds of thoughts, but they all drifted away. She did not understand why Bella chose this brand. Although it is very famous, Bella must have a reason to sign with this brand, because FC Group is also…

Annie thought for a moment, suddenly discovering something. That's right, this is a very famous brand, FC group is, just in the beginning of development, so it is very hard to trade with these famous brands.

Cam Y began to search for some memories, but she discovered… she didn't have any memories of the owner. She glanced at the phone over there and intended to ask the system, but as soon as she picked it up, someone knocked on the door.

“Who is that?”- she asked.

“It’s me!”- said the butler.

“Mr. Dustin wants to meet you now. Please go to his room!”-he continued.

Annie thought for a bit and then she said:

“Alright! Let’s go!”

They went through a hallway and then to a room at the end of the second floor. The butler opened the door, bowed politely, and said:

 "Madam, please."

Annie looked around the room until she saw Dustin sitting in the office. She slowly walked into the room. Dustin was still busy with work, he just constantly typing on the computer, completely oblivious to Annie. The atmosphere in the room became so quiet that Annie just wanted to get out. 

Damn it! Damn it!

“Hey, hey. you called me here for what, I stood here for a very long time and you didn’t tell me any words! What’s wrong with you? I’m so busy, you know! Please hurry up and then let me go!” - thought Annie.

“Take a seat! Why are you just standing there?”- said Dustin.

“Alright, I can wait, just tell me what you want.”

“Take a seat! This is going to be long! I’m still busy now so… I’m afraid you have to wait…”

Annie didn’t think much but went to the sofa nearby.

After a very long time, Dustin finished his work, he saw Annie was in the land of Nod. He turned down the computer, went to the sofa, sat down, and asked:  "Are you okay?"

Suddenly he was startled. Why does he have to worry for her? This wasn’t him. 

Annie nodded but then shook her head.

“Hm… No, I’m ok, I’m good!”

“If you are sleepy, go back to your room. We’re going to talk later!”

“No…No, look at me! I’m still awake!.”

Dustin sighed, patted her head, and then said:

"Listen to me! Go back to sleep. We can talk tomorrow, ok!"

Right now.

Annie was sitting on the bed holding the computer, talking to the system, she looked calm and comfortable, completely no longer looking as tired as before.

[Why did you tell a lie?]- the system suddenly asked. But Annie didn’t reply.

She threw the phone aside…

Outside, the moonlight shone brightly, and the wind blew, making the curtains up and fly, drawing a beautiful curve. The street lights flashing from outside made the pitch-black space in the room become a bit of a freak...
