I stayed in hiding, observing the black-haired man heading toward the rocky hill. I followed him, trying to stay unnoticed. This man had answers to my questions, and—most importantly—he might have known where Nova was.

He ran through the hill, heading, most likely, to the other side of the hideout. He seemed anxious. Was this Theresa that the other lycan had mentioned a lover of his?

The black-haired lycan sniffed the air around him and growled. Then he started to run faster, jumping through the steep path. I leaped forward and hid in the shade formed by the pile of stones. I could still follow him, but passing this terrain without being seen was becoming harder by the second.

I looked around and was surprised to see no warriors—no one guarding this place properly. That made me recall the scene I saw by the steel door. They were evacuating... That made me wonder what had happened there. Were they attacked by someone? But if it weren't for my people, then who would attack them? R
