I didn't know how many hours had passed. My heart ached for every life lost in the battle, which I could only hear but not see. And I heard every sound clearly as the witches who were sitting around me turned silent, disturbed by my prediction. I couldn't explain what made me say those words to them, but as I looked at their faces, I knew that their end was near, and that little ounce of justice was the only thing that kept me sane and hopeful.

Suddenly, the truck driver started the engine again, and I realized that the sounds of the fight had faded. That could only mean one thing: Eric and Einer had won. The realization hit me hard, squeezing my chest and drawing even more tears as my thoughts and anxieties focused on Felix. Was he there, leading the Crimson Mountain Pack's warriors? Was he captured?
