Chapter 4

Maria sat beside the bed of her pale daughter, who was still unconscious, her wrist tied to a solution and her head covered with a bandage.

It was shocking and painful for her to admit that all this happened to Carlesia on her first day here, but what worries her is how she will explain what happened to her.

Of course, she could not reveal the secret of this city and risk her life.

She took a deep breath and covered her face with her hands.

How can you become an alpha mate? It's impossible and hasn't happened before, as far as she knows.

If she had known, she would have never let her move here and put her in this permanent danger.

Alphas have been known to be very possessive and impatient. And when it came to their comrades, possessions doubled, but Alpha Gabriel was a serious exception.

Not only was he extraordinarily strong, he was also cruel. He had never forgiven any trespasser or intruder before, and they all knew that if he found Carlesia to pose any threat to his flock to kill her at once. That's why there are no humans in this city, where all its inhabitants are just werewolves.

Gabriel had left the house just before the doctor arrived, without saying goodbye only a careful nod and a look of longing at Carlesia that made Maria think for a split second that he had a heart.

Maria looked at the time on her daughter's table, it was two in the morning. Everyone went to sleep and both Elijah and Robin were a bit confused after what had happened, and they checked Carlesia twice but were disappointed and afraid that she hadn't woken up yet.

It was surprising to them how they had attached themselves to her in such a short time and had vowed not to allow any harm to her, even if that harm was the face of an alpha, they would stand up to her.

After a few minutes, she heard footsteps approaching her daughter's room and looked up to see Ben on the doorway looking at Carlesia with regret.

Then he looked at his wife, who looked like a ghost. He slowly made his way to stand behind her chair with his hands on her shoulders.

"Baby try to get some rest, you will need your energy in the morning when you wake up." He said in a low voice, and Maria nodded, knowing that her husband was right.

"Yes, I'll follow you in a moment." She said gently, touching her daughter's hand.

She sighed as she took one last look at her daughter before leaving the room, making sure the door was wide open so she could hear Carlesia if she woke up.

As Gabriel walks at a quiet pace in the dungeon, clenching his fist and untangling it, he looks at the intruder who was tortured to death, the intruder who made the mistake of crossing the boundary of Alpha Gabriel Kane. He needed to cool off after the events of the day and when he got the news of the infringer he was more than happy to use it as a punching bag.

He finally realizes that his companion is a human being. A weak human being but he still loves her passionately. But the question is, how can this be possible?

Not many centuries ago has a wolf mated with a human. It was impossible.

This was the first time he had questioned the decision of the Great Moon Goddess, but he was glad that he had finally found his other half.

His wolf was agitated and wanted to mate with her but that was not possible, or else he would end up hurting her even more, he wouldn't let that happen but he wasn't sure how long he could subdue him, at any moment he could go out and claim her, and kill everyone who stood in his way.

He shook his head as he took a deep breath.

He called Robin and asked everything he knew about her, but it wasn't enough. He needed to know more.

As far as he was concerned, the only thing he knew about his darling was that she was living in Sydney, her father had died serving in the army, and she had a wealthy uncle who would do anything for her.

But the problem is that she is only sixteen years old while he is twenty-three. In their faction, it was completely normal for them to have mates ten years older than them, but for humans that's disgusting and illegal.

With a difference of eight years, how will he make her love him?

Yes, he could go in, catch her and lock her up in his house away from everyone, but that would be plan B, when all his attempts failed.

He sighed and finally decided to go take a shower and then take a rest.

At seven in the morning, Carlesia opened her eyes to the sun's rays intruding into the room, while staring at the ceiling of the room. For a moment, she thought she had woken up in her bed, in Sydney, but then figured out where she was, but she still couldn't remember why her body was in pain.

Her head was throbbing making her want to touch him but as soon as she moved her wrist, she wanted to scream in pain.

Finally, she turned her head and her eyes widened in shock upon seeing her hands bluish and bandaged.

How can this happen? You couldn't remember anything. The last thing she remembers is talking to Elijah and Robin.

She pulled the sheets away from her body with trembling hands and found that she was wearing a blood-stained gown.

Slowly she got off the bed and made her way to the long mirror in the corner of the room, her eyebrows raised in astonishment as she saw her own reflection.

Her head was covered with a bandage with a bruise on the lower leg, not to mention the bruise on the top of her arm, in addition to the hand supports. Her hair was full of blood and looked like a mice's nest, something her father would not tolerate if he were here.

She smiled at her father's thought and for a moment completely forgot the pain, both emotional and physical.

She gave herself another glancing look before slowly returning to the bed, reeling with each step.

She sat up at last and took a deep breath, trying hard to remember one thing but nothing. Her memory dimmed.

A few minutes later, she could hear footsteps on the hallway floor just outside her room, and she turned her head to the door, trying to get a glimpse of the person.

Elijah gave her a small smile when he saw her.

"can I enter?" He asked her and nodded her head.

"So how do you feel?" he asked gently while sitting on the sofa facing her.

She thought of an answer for a few moments and then finally answered.

"As if you fell from a building, but you don't have to worry." She said with a bit of humor.

"So, how much do you remember from last night?" He asked after a few minutes.

“Not much, actually I was hoping you'd tell me. The last thing I remember is we were talking and then the doorbell rang and you guys left.”

Elijah took a deep breath: "I slipped and fell down the stairs." .

This was the excuse that Alpha Gabriel told them to tell her, they couldn't tell her the truth. He feels guilty because he lied to her, he doesn't want to build their relationship on lies but what can they do? This is how things have always been with humans.

His eyes moved to Carlesia's face who was deep in thought but after a few minutes she came out of her coma and laughed lightly.

“Yes, I expected that,” she said innocently.

This made him drown in guilt, how they used her innocence and kindness as an excuse.

He took a deep breath and decided to change the subject.

"Then would you like to have breakfast? If you feel fine walking." He asked and she nodded excitedly.

"Yes please." She got up and added, "I'll be down soon. I have to clean myself up first." I nodded and left the room.

Making her way into the bags, vowing to unpack them for the day, she randomly pulled out comfortable clothes with bunny slippers. She always wore them at home because she lived by one rule, "a comfortable life."

And this slipper is the definition of comfort.

As soon as she went to the bathroom, she washed with difficulty after removing her blood-stained clothes, because of her broken wrists.

A few minutes later, she stepped out in pink and white yoga pants and a loose-fitting white T-shirt.

She dried her hair with a towel and painfully gathered it into one messy, twisted, damp bun.

She finally finished and walked out, standing staring at the stairs for a bit before slowly descending on him.

She was going to call Zane first but she didn't want to disturb him because he would be asleep by now.

She noticed that the house was very quiet, and that was good because Carlesia lived in silence all her life, she lived in a house with one friend who became a member of the family, a father who always went to serve his country and a millionaire uncle who always visited which practically lived with them.

Life was wonderful. Although she only spent it with four people, it was filled with luxury and happiness.

But even though they are all far away now, she can still see happiness here with her mother's family.

What won't she like here?

A good family, they welcomed her with open arms, even if she hardly knew anything about them.

I finally got to the kitchen and saw Elijah sitting at the table looking at his phone.

He looked at her and smiled.

"So, what do you want to eat?" Asked.

She looked at him in amazement: "You know how to cook?" .

"Sure! But Robin doesn't like to eat me, and Maria and Dad refuse to eat whenever I cook, huh, some people don't recognize talent when they see it."

She guessed why, but she was still curious how badly he had cooked.

"French toast." Finally, she said, he smiled and nodded.

"Five minutes and it will be ready." He started taking out supplies.

"where is everybody." Carlesia finally asked, she might need help if she gets food poisoning.

"Oh, they're all asleep. They've been up late last night, worried about you."

She was ashamed to disturb and annoy them but didn't mean to fall, though she certainly doesn't remember falling down a flight of stairs.

After that, they both fell silent, as she watched Elijah cook while they murmured a tune.

After a few minutes, she heard two feet coming down the stairs and turned her head curiously and found it was Robin.

"good morning." He staggered into the kitchen and sat down beside Carlesia at the table.

"good morning" .

"How do you feel?" He asked looking at her wrists and then the bandage that covered her head.

"Better, I think."

Robin nodded and held his nose, smelling the terrible French bread that Elijah was cooking.

"Is he cooking?" Robin asked with wide eyes, and before she could answer Elijah spoke.

"Hey Robin, would you like some French toast?"

"No, thanks, I don't want to be a victim of your cooking." He looked at Carcelsa and added:

"You will die of food poisoning after you taste its cooking." to whisper .

"How bad is it cooking?" whispered.

"He decided once to cook something for our pet cat." .

"How this cute ." Carlesia said, to which Robin replied emphatically,

"The cat died." Carlesia's eyes widened.

Before she could say another word, Elijah happily jumped towards them with a plate in his hand and placed it in front of her looking at Carlesia happily.

As soon as her eyes fell on the food, she widened.

I looked at Robin whose hand was covering his mouth, trying to hold back the laughter.

"What is this Elijah?" I asked politely, Elijah laughed as he patted her shoulder.

"Your French toast, silly!" .

I stared at the plate.

The thing Elijah claimed was French toast looked like a tattered dark brown mess which actually made her believe the cat story Robin had just told.

How bad is a seventeen year old boy's cooking?

"Tell me, how does it taste?" Asked .

Carlesia held a fork, not wanting to hurt Elijah's feelings, and looked at Robin who was watching her, trying to contain his smiles.

She stabbed a small piece of Bubble and put it in her mouth before getting stuck in a fit of coughing.

The taste was awful, the worst thing I've ever tasted.

Robin burst into a fit of laughter as Elijah looked at them in confusion.

"Are you okay Carly?" Elijah asked while patting her back while Robin put a bottle of water in front of her mouth for her to drink.

"What do you think of the dish?" Robin sneered, but Carlesia was too busy drinking water.

After a few minutes, she finally stopped coughing, took a deep breath, her eyes watered with tears from coughing as she wiped away a stray tear.

"Wow ." It was all she said as she looked at Robin who smiled triumphantly, realizing he had been right the whole time.

"So how was the bread?" Elijah finally asked and she looked at him with an uncomfortable expression.

She didn't want to hurt his feelings and didn't want to lie, so she finally said,

“I… just speechless.”

"I would hug you if you weren't so bruised.” Robin shook his head smilingly, knowing the true meaning behind her words.

It's hard to stay on the ground...

"I have to unpack my bags." She replied to him as she made her way up the stairs, her appetite had completely vanished.

She closed the door behind her as she entered and looked at two huge bags and one duffel in the corner of the room.

She didn't want to unpack her luggage, she was tired but it would cause all her things to pile up. Because next week, all her leftovers, including her car, will arrive, and then she'll have more work and mess to clean up.

She sighed and walked over to the bag and opened it in place on the floor. One of her bags contained her huge collection of shoes, of which not a single pair of high heels were present, while the other contained her very expensive clothes. The beanbag in the corner consists of many pictures and a lot of books.

She slowly began to gently fold the clothes and put them in her wardrobe.

After she finished unpacking her first bag, she was exhausted. Her wrists hurt.

She groaned loudly as she sat on the floor with her back against the wall.

She started to feel heavy on her eyes, she could hear the doorbell ringing but she was feeling sleepy and too tired to know who the visitor was.
