JAYDEN’S P.O.V.
Could goddess be so cruel? I asked Faye as I ran back to mom.
“Is everything alright?” Jared asked with a concern.
I just shook my head and rushed to sit in the car.
“Why is she crying?” dad asked in a worried tone. “Jay, did anyone hurt you?” he demanded. His alpha aura rolling out in anger. Even the mere thought of anyone laying their unwanted hands on me rose fury in my dad. He was ultra protective!
I shook my head again.
“Let us go. I will talk to her later,” I heard mom tell dad and she climbed back in the car followed by Jared and we all were taken inside. If I had looked around, I would have noticed how beautiful and serene the compound was. How a sterling lake was in the centre of it and how swans were swimming in it. But my heart was heavy. And my eyes were clouded. Faye was showing me the scene over and over again. She was obsessing over the boy who clearly belonged to another girl. Why else would he kiss her like that?
‘Maybe because he is also a playboy like our brother?’ Faye reasoned. ‘Jared also hops from one girl to another, Jayden. But none matters to him. But when his mate would come along, well, it would be a different matter altogether.’
‘But he must have scented me,’ I argued. ‘If he really is our mate, like I felt him, he must have felt me, and yet he ignored us. He even ignored your claim over him. I don’t think he is worth it, Faye. I have been right all my life, this mate bond is nothing but a shitty deal!’
‘Shut up, Jayden,’ Faye scolded me roughly and retreated to the back of my mind. I knew she was not angry with me, she was angry because I was right!
I knew mom and Jared were trying to mind link me. Jared was trying to cripple my defences against him, but I knew better. I have mastered the art of blocking my thoughts from him and it was what I was using right now. I could sense mom and Jared talking through mind link beside me. I knew they were silently talking about me because they did not wish to bother me. But I was bothered. I was so damn bothered that I really needed to vent out my feelings.
“The council meeting is starting in less than ten minutes, Jay-Jay, would you okay for a while?” mom asked in a gravely concerned tone as the car halted near the spot where our rooms were allocated. “And tomorrow, we will celebrate your birthday,” she grinned.
I just nodded, ignored her grin over my birthday, hopped out of the car and walked to the room that I knew was designated to me.
“I am here if you want to talk,” Jared called out as I rushed to my room and locked it. I really did not wish to talk to anyone.
**
Mom kept us apprised on the status of the council meeting every hour. It was more like an announcement in our heads stating how long the meeting would still go on, and if anyone needs anything, and to check if we all were fine.
When I did not respond to her calls and answer her back, I felt her warning echo in my head. She was willing to skip the meeting if I was so upset that I won’t even respond to her.
Defeated, I started to reply to her check ins. Last thing I wanted was to come in between my parents alpha and luna business. They took it very seriously, after all, fate of all those who belonged to our clan rested in their hands.
‘We will be done in another hour,’ mom’s voice echoed in my head after around six hours. So far I have skipped food, water and any sort of activity. All I wanted to do was stay coiled in this strange bed and forget about meeting this strange boy. Or was he a man? I did not even know how old he was because I did not know how he looked!
“Fuck!” I cursed as I stripped my clothes and pulled out my jogging clothes. Quickly changing into my comfortable sports bra and slacks, I stepped out.
“Hey, you are out,” Jared called out. He was sitting with two girls, who were smiling broadly at him. Even within alpha females, Jared was way too popular. These girls just could not control their drools over him.
Scoffing at him and at the sight of the girls, who were eying me suspiciously, I left. I had no idea where the training ground here was, or even if the council had a training ground. But I followed my nose. The scent that was so tantalizing was coming from west direction, so I ran in the opposite and marched towards the east. I jogged along the houses, attracting a lot of stares and murmurs on the way, but I did not care. After ten minutes I saw an open field. And I sighed in relief. There was no one in sight on the field, and with the darkness falling, I knew I would be safe from the curious and prying eyes.
So I ran. I ran until I was out of breath. I don’t know from whom I was running. Was it from myself? From my desires? Or from that tantalizing scent that was growing stronger by every lap I took of the field. By the time I panted and dropped on my hands and knees, the scent was thick as smoke in my head and it was making me giddy.
“Are you always so fast or it is something in the Swiss air?” the voice asked in a very carefree, casual way.
I looked up and stared at him. I was in a crouching position, and in this position, he looked huge. His eyes were locked on mine but as I stared, I saw his eyes rake my entire face and then drop a little lower. I could swear his eyes turned black momentarily as they halted on my chest. I looked down, owing to my position, I was exposing my br*asts to him. I placed my hand on my chest and stood up straight.
He was tall. I was five feet eleven inches tall, and he was taller than me. Wow! He must be at least six two… and he was broad too. He seemed masculine and had well built body. And the way he was leaning against a pole, he looked very relaxed and carefree.
“Who are you?” I demanded.
He raised his eyes at this question. I was not used to men, well, boys in his case, gawking at me like he was. But I was also not used to feel smitten. No male ever dared to eye me. No male ever dared to touch me. And no male, none whatsoever, ever dared to talk like this to me. Everyone knew I was the alpha princess and I commanded a respect that came with my title.
But this boy, well, his boyish grin, his hazel eyes, his ruffled hair, his perfect oval face, they all made my heart thud loudly.
“Who the fuck are you?” I repeated in an agitated tone.
He just rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, gave me a sideways grin but did not reply.
Huffing, I turned and started to walk away.
“I don’t like to answer to people who do not have the decency to answer me first,” the boy spoke as he fell in steps with me.
I halted in my steps. “What?” his words confused.
“I asked you first, didn’t I? If you are always so fast, well, you ignored me,” he just shrugged.
“I –” I was feeling very confused but I just answered him. “I am actually faster. The field is not level so I am running much slower. I don’t want to bother mom and dad by getting hurt here,” I spoke as I pointed around.
“You are faster than this in your human form?” he asked with great surprise.
I just shrugged and continued to walk.
“I am Nash, by the way,” he replied. “And you are?” and I halted at his name.
“You do not look like a Nash,” I spoke as I studied his face. He was clearly Indian by his looks and accent.
‘His amazing godly looks,’ Faye sighed in my head and I shushed her.
“What do I look like then to you?” Nash asked with the most flirtatious grin on his face.
I stopped dead at his look. Can someone look so handsome and yet to annoying at the same time. A part of me wanted to touch the crease on his face that was forming with his smile, but another part of me, the one that wanted to resist him, wanted to smack that grin from his face.
“I think you look like someone,” I started with a deadly grip on my emotions, “someone who disrespects his heritage by disowning or feeling ashamed of who he truly is, and wants to pretend and fit into a society to which he clearly does not belong to! And for that someone, I really do not have the time of day!”
NASH’S P.O.V. I was annoyed with Clarice. She had kept me glued to her lips and like a drug addict, I found it hard to let go. Damn! Zues was epically annoyed with me, because I delayed seeing the face of our mate. Hope she was as beautiful and as incredible as I have always wanted her to be. But, on top of it, I sincerely hoped she was a ‘she’, I thought again and prayed to the Goddess. But does Goddess grant wishes that are shallow? Well, I was shallow, I know it. I am the fucking alpha of the largest population of the world, well, future alpha, so I had a reputation to maintain. Oh Goddess, please do not grant me an ugly Luna! I was walking here and there searching for the source of the scent. I never had a preference for flowers till date, but now, lavenders were my favourite, roses being second. Thankfully my mom and dad were in council meeting now, and while they had dragged me here to showcase my face to the other regions and heirs, I was not allowed to sit in the meeting.
NASH’S P.O.V.‘Avinash, come and join us for dinner in the dining room,’ my mother’s voice rang in my head.‘Coming,’ I replied immediately and walked in the direction from where the smell of food was wafting. I never minded mom calling me Avinash, well, how could I, she is mom...‘And leave that friend of yours behind, I do not wish to see her here,’ my mother snapped in my head and I felt she had shouted in rage.‘She has to eat!’ I complained.‘Make her eat in the bed you are so fondly sharing,’ my mother spoke in the same agitated tone and I felt the mind link close.Clarice did not belong to our pack in India, she belonged to the French pack, and hence I could not mind link her. So I quickly texted her that she should stay in the room and I will come find her once all the drama with my family was done. She just replied with a thumbs up, and then another message popped up on my WhatsApp. It was an image. I looked around to ensure I was alone and opened it.It was Clarice, topless,
JAYDEN’S P.O.V.“Did he just growl?” Jared asked, perplexed. He was staring at Avinash, so was I, and it seemed like so was everyone. But I could not believe it. He growled. While I was not looking at him, I could feel his eyes on me since the moment I had stepped in the dining room, and I liked the feel of it. He was handsome, incredibly so, but before I develop more attachment towards him, I needed to understand him. All I knew as of now is that he was shallow and a playboy, but I knew nothing else about it.‘He is perfect, Jayden,’ Faye snapped in my head.“Why do I sense I know what is happening here?” Jared demanded as he pulled me out of the dining room.“What is happening?” I asked my brother as I tried to compose my face. I wonder what was reflected on it.“You like him,” Jared concluded.‘What’s not to like?’ Faye snapped.“Umm, even Faye like him?” Jared looked alarmed. “The way she is snapping at me!”Oh damn! I forgot to close my mind to him.‘Great, thank you!’ Faye spoke
NASH’S P.O.V.Post dinner, I was dragged to the suite my parents were occupying. And the moment the door closed, my dad rounded on me. He was so furious, I was surprised his claws and fangs were not out to hit me!“What is wrong with you?” he demanded.“A lot of things,” I shrugged, unable to control my retort. “You have been pointing out my flaws for years on end, which one are you referring to right now?”My father growled even more.“Avinash,” my mother chimed in. “Behave yourself.”“Why don’t you ask him to start,” I hissed.I saw my father fist his fingers and I took a step back. I do not want him to scar my face, at least not here, where my Goddess Princess was.“You have to pound on any girl that crosses your path, is it?” my father started.“I do not pound on girls, they pound on me,” I shrugged. I just could not help but aggravate my father.“From the looks of it, I don’t think that La Gualias girl was even looking at you,” my father hissed. And I understood his meaning, so I
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “So, are you going to tell me what the hell is going on?” Jared demanded once we were in my room. Rain and Aron also had followed us too and both were staring between me and Jared with avid looks. “I am just not feeling well,” I sighed as I gave a pointed look towards Rain and Aron. “Oh really,” Rain rolled her eyes at me and I sometimes forget she is only eight years old girl. But she doesn’t look it, and her words and actions definitely do not look it. Well, did mine when I was little! Mom dad always said Jared and I used to speak like we were sixteen when we were barely five years old. And dad often recalls and laugh that I had smacked him on his shoulders accusing him that mom left us because of him – well, mom was actually kidnapped! The worst eight weeks of my life. “Really Rainy,” I smiled at my sister. “Then why has mom broadcasted in our heads that we are to leave you alone,” Aron growled. He was eleven years old and looked it. He was as tall as I am but
NASH’S P.O.V. I did not wish to take Clarice out, but she heard the music and about the party and insisted. Zues was frantic in my head, but what could I do. I already had asked Clarice to leave this place saying my parents, especially my father, would go on a murderous spree if he spotted her again. And while it was true, it was not the absolute reason. The absolute reason was my princess, Jayden. I had even given Clarice shit load of money to enjoy herself in Switzerland for at least a month and return to Paris whenever she wished for, but she did not leave. It was a fucked up moment when she wrapped her hands around my waist and hugged me tightly from behind. “I asked you to leave,” I growled. “I asked you to leave and yet, here you are,” I barked in a low hiss. I could smell Jayden at a distance, but she was not here yet. This was her party and her mother had informed us all while inviting that the party was a surprise for Jared and Jayden. And that the twins – yep, a surprise
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “I mean your brother is dancing with my sister,” Nash smirked and pointed in a direction. I looked at the direction Nash was pointed at and felt furious. The sparks that were trailing all over my hand suddenly extinguished. ‘What the fuck are you doing?’ I demanded Jared in my head. ‘Getting to know your mate,’ Jared smirked back at me. He was dancing so closely with Nash’s sister that their bodies were touching. And oh, I could see it in her eyes, that stupid girl was falling for my playboy brother! “Can I at least dance with his sister?” Nash continued and I felt like I should slap him. “So you want to dance as a quid pro quo thing?” I growled at Nash. “Well, if that’s what get you moving because you are not replying to anything else,” Nash grunted, and without any ado, he pulled me to the dance floor and pressed me close to his body. My jaw dropped at the feelings that this sudden movement. “I am sorry,” Nash spoke after a brief pause. “For what?” I demande
NASH’S P.O.V. This was a clusterfuck! I cursed as I walked back to where Jayden was, but she was not there. Even Jared and Devi were not in the group. I looked around frantically, and someone just pointed in the opposite direction. I swore loudly as I rushed up to her. I would do anything, even beg on my knees for her to give me an opportunity to explain. ‘Explain what exactly?’ Zues was beside himself in my head. I had to restrain him from coming forward and rip Clarice’s head off. He had been warning me, and now I had done it…me! No, Clarice had done it. “Please,” I spoke the moment my eyes fell on her. I could tell from her stooped shoulders and the way her body was sagging, she was sad and broken, and it hurt me immensely that I have caused it. “Let me explain please,” I begged as she turned around upon hearing my voice. I was scared she would refuse to talk to me, but that slight nod of her head was like a breath for a drowning man. Quickly, without wasting a single moment,
Three years later. The stage was set, and the ceremonies were done. Well, at least the ones for which humans were invited as well. And now was the time to perform the most important ceremony of all… and now only the wolves remained! And among those were Nash’s family – immediate and extended, my parents, grandparents, my brothers and sisters, Dr Serena, Rhea and Taron uncle’s family."Why are so many bollywood actors here?" I asked Devi as we all sat in our seats, staring expectantly at the stage, where Nash's father was standing."They all are wolves, did you not know?" Devi grinned. "Dad let's them use their charm to get popular and stuff. Helps keep control," she winked."Wow! Isn't it like dangerous? What if they lose control?" I was shocked."Well," Devi shrugged. "Nothing super dangerous has happened so far..."I was about to ask her what has happened so far, but Nash's father cleared his throat and I looked up ahead.“I am your Alpha,” Nash’s father spoke to the assembled crowd
JAYDEN’S P.O.V.“You maybe too modern, Jayden to not care, but I am not… so for you new dad’s sake, put this shirt on,” he spoke without even looking at me. “I also want to see what he is saying, and for that, you need this!”And I smiled at Nash’s father’s words and put on the shirt. And he finally looked in our direction.“Who hired you to kidnap Devi?” I demanded as he certainly cannot be a mastermind behind all this.“One look, please,” and he hissed.“Are you a vampire?” I asked, confused.“He is in the sun,” Jared muttered. But then who was he?“He is a human,” Nash muttered. “He was not affected by wolfsbane, and he is not affected by sun!”“He is stupid, Jayden,” Myra spoke from her spot. “Very stupid. He was taking orders from someone else… we could not hear because our wolves are dormant, but he has been saying and doing whatever the man on the phone was saying!”And at this, Jared searched the man’s pocket and pulled out his phone.“A temporary phone,” Jared informed as he
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. Putting down first four was no problem. Jared and I were unmatched fighters, and those who know about us, would not dare face us. But I guess these men did not know about us, because they did fight, no, they tried to fight and well, now they are dead! We climbed to the second floor and instead of two men as Nash told us, we found three, but no issues, they were dealt with as well. But as the third one caught us by surprise, it was thrown down two floors with loud clattering sound and thuds. And it rendered all the occupants of the top floor quiet. ‘Fuck!’ Jared swore in my head. ‘Well,’ I sighed as we looked up, and saw two men looking down at us. They yelled and started climbing down stairs in anger. ‘Let them come,’ I spoke to Jared who took his stance to fight. And the moment the men approached us, I used my inhuman speed and pushed them down two floors, and they went tumbling down with another thud... Jared twisted his mouth and looked down at their crumpled
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. ‘Worse,’ Nash’s father whispered. ‘They want you to come out or they will rape and kill Devi in front of my own eyes.’ I halted for a moment as Devi’s happy face flashed in front of my eyes. ‘I am coming in,’ I spoke determinedly. I could sense Jared’s and Nash’s retort coming but it was Nash’s father who spoke first, ‘NO!’ he thundered. ‘Whatever may happen, I will not trade one daughter for another… this is not how things are done in my family!’ And my heart thudded. ‘Daughter?’ I whispered to myself. ‘You may consider me a devil, Jayden, but I do consider you as my daughter. I may not love you as much your parents love you, or I love Devi, please excuse that but you just came in my life, but you are my daughter. Always remember that…’ And my eyes welled. ‘Not the time to get emotional,’ Faye barked in my head. ‘Or have you forgotten what that man said about you?’ ‘What did he say about you?’ Nash and Jared demanded. ‘Later!’ I hissed. ‘Focus!’ ‘
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. ‘Jayden… Jayden…’ both Nash and Jared were growling in my head. ‘Stop distracting me, and Nash, link me to your dad so I know what shit is unfurling inside…’ I ordered. ‘I am going to kill you woman,’ Nash growled. ‘First, let me become a woman,’ I laughed but then I heard Nash’s dad’s voice in my head too. ‘Where are you, Avinash?’ Nash’s father asked. ‘Very close,’ Nash informed. ‘How many men inside, alpha,’ I asked as I crouched low in the shed. ‘Half a dozen,’ Nash’s father was not at all surprised that I had linked to him like this. ‘Weapons?’ I asked as I looked back, and found a man snoozing in the shed. ‘Guns, grenades, automatics, these men are prepared to eradicate us,’ Nash’s father informed. ‘Not if we kill them first, isn’t it?’ I spoke as I crept over to the sleeping men and spoke, ‘hold on to the line, Nash…’ and I snapped the neck of the sleeping men in a heartbeat. ‘One down,’ I spoke with a smile as I looked around. There were
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. I was contemplating how to go about the situation when a voice boomed in my head. ‘Don’t you dare!’ It was Jared. ‘Oh, you are awake,’ I replied sarcastically. ‘Jay, no…’ he added. ‘We are not even fifteen minutes out, wait for us…’ he ordered. ‘Where are you?’ I demanded as I felt rather weird through this mind link. ‘You will see,’ Jared informed, and I checked the skies. I hope they were not coming via chopper because that will announce our arrival. ‘This is normal, Jar,’ I sighed. ‘I can take them out…’ “She is not listening,” Jared shouted out loud, almost making me jump. ‘Jayden,’ now Nash’s voice boomed in my head. ‘Great, so you are awake too,’ and I connected him to my link with Jared. ‘We are not even ten minutes out,’ Nash spoke. ‘Covered five minutes distance in few seconds, are you guys flying?’ I snorted. ‘Something of the sort,’ Jared spoke and this time I did peer towards the sky. ‘Jay, remember your promise to dad. You will n
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “I am not surprised that we don’t have any wolves here,” I spoke as I stared around. Beggars, hawkers, and many random people were littered around the city. “How do we even find our princess?” the driver asked. But then alpha opened his eyes and spoke, “No, I cannot locate or contact either of the girls.” I sighed. I had not expected it, but I would not lie that I was not disappointed. “We are at least in the right city!” the security guard pointed. But then suddenly, the alpha exclaimed. He exclaimed so loudly that the driver almost lost control of the car and I jumped at least two feet in the air, banging my head on the side. “What happened?” I demanded, clutching my head. “The bar,” he spoke. “Where we left the money?” I asked. “Yes, it is gone…” he whispered. “Gone? As in?” I asked suspiciously. “There was a blast in it, and it is totally ablaze… two of our men standing outside are dead!” he whispered sadly. “Why would they blast half a mil
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “We have informed the princes about this and they are also re-routing towards Kashid,” the man beside the driver informed me. Both my mate and my brother were in the city but none had mind linked me. I had tried to establish contact but none allowed. Why? Were they avoiding me to keep me safe or were they so damn busy that they had their minds closed to any outside distraction. Hoping for the latter, I focused on the situation on hand. And what a situation it was! I wanted to be with Nash and Jared. Discuss strategy with them, but I didn’t know where they were, and I did not wish to leave Nash’s father alone right now. “If we find my daughter,” Nash’s father started. “We will kill everyone who took her, yes,” I nodded. He looked at me for a fleeting second, as if assessing me if I had the stomach to digest cold blooded murder, but then he nodded. “Kashid is how big?” I asked. “Not that big,” Nash’s father informed me. “So, they will see us coming,” I t
JAYDEN’S P.O.V. “Claws…” Nash’s father fell on to the floor in shock. “They are my baby’s claws.” I was surprised. Faye did not sense anything regarding Devi or Myra in that box. I took the box from Nash’s father’s hands and felt repulsed immediately. Who the fuck does that? Who was so cruel to – to – Faye growled in my head at the sight of pulled out claws. But did not transform again. I sniffed, and stared at crumpled form of Nash’s father. “Did you catch a familiar scent from these, Alpha?” I asked sceptically. “My baby!” he choked. “No, these do not belong to either Devi or Myra,” I assured him. And he looked up at me hopefully. “Devi and Myra were tied up in that room but that room is devoid of any other wolf’s scent. Humans, yes, but no wolves… and these,” I pointed at the box, “don’t belong to either girl.” Nash’s father stood up and nodded. “Then we must leave this place…” Nash’s father spoke, totally unabashed. I nodded and followed him. But then his secu
