My cheeks instantly went red as he called me Crybaby.
Why the hell would he call me that? I'm no crybaby! More importantly, why am I blushing? Why is my heart leaping with joy? Why do I feel like the main character right now?
Everyone turned to look at me.
“Uh, hi,” I said a little awkwardly, raising my hand and waving a little.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, approaching us, and I couldn't help but avert my gaze to the floor.
Why am I shy? Why does he make me so pleasurably uncomfortable even though I've only met him once? I don't even know his name!
“Hello, Mr Gray.” He greeted, shaking hands with Lucas. “It's such a pleasure to meet you.”
“Likewise,” Lucas said stoically, shaking his hand. “I happened to be passing by the area and thought to check how things are going so far.”
Liar!
“Well, as you can see, everything is going so smoothly.”
Then, Liam got off the stool and walked towards us, his bare nipples flashing on my face.
“Hello, Mr Gray,” He said politely, offering his hand for a handshake with Lucas. “I've heard so much about you.”
“Same as I.” Lucas said, a little condescendingly, “I'm thrilled to have you as our brand ambassador.”
“Likewise, sir,” Liam said, and then his gaze flickered to me, making my heart skip a beat. The way he stared at me, made me feel a little turned on, and I began to blush despite myself. “Hello, Miss.” He said facing me. “I don't think we've made a formal introduction before. I'm Liam Pierce and you are?”
I went dry, and my heart began to pound. I don't know whether it was because there were three hot men in the room who made me feel pleasurably uncomfortable or because the plot was changing again.
He should have said that to Kate, not me!
“Hello, Liam!” Kate said excitedly, giggling like a fan girl. “I'm Kate Mendes. I'm such a huge fan of yours.”
Liam turned to her, only noticing her for the first time, “Oh! Senora, I didn't see you there.” Then he took Kate's hand and kissed it, “Nice to meet you too.” Then he gently dropped her hand while Kate still giggled, and then he took my hand, “You never told me your name.” And then he kissed it.
In the book, Liam was such a flirty charmer, a lady-killer in fact who only saw women as nothing but a tool to satisfy his lust after his terrible breakup with his girlfriend before he shot to fame. In the book, he changes his ways after meeting with Kate and begins to see women in a new light.
But he never even noticed Luna! None of the male leads ever noticed her! It was always Kate!
I remember this scene, he had kissed Kate's hand and Kate had blushed with excitement while Lucas stared with suppressed jealousy.
My eyes flickered to Lucas who was staring at us… wait… is that… is that jealousy that appeared in his eyes?
My eyes shifted to the photographer, whose name I still had no idea. His expression was unreadable, but I saw his jaw tighten a little.
Kate was still obviously happy that her favorite celebrity crush had just kissed her hand.
“Oh!” I immediately withdrew my hand, “I'm Luna. Nice to meet you.”
“Oh, Luna.” Liam said, tasting the name in his mouth, “Such a pretty name for a lovely girl.”
His eyes lingered on mine and I could see the spark. Those were the eyes of a man in love. A man in utter awe.
Those eyes were exactly the way that the Author had described them when he had met Kate in the book. But… I'm not Kate! I'm Luna!
“Okay, we're running late,” The photographer said, breaking the tension, “Liam, go sit down. We'll begin the photo shoot.”
“Sure thing.” Then he beckoned to his manager, who came scurrying, then he stretched out his hand, “My phone?” His manager gave him his phone and then he handed it to me, “Put your number there, sweetheart. I'll be back.” Then he gave me a sexy, kinky wink and walked to the photo backdrop.
In no time, the photoshoot had already begun.
I glanced at Lucas out of the corner of my eyes just to see that he was staring at me!
I hiccupped and quickly looked away in worry.
The whole plot is changing, and it's scaring me. Liam should have asked for Kate's number, not me. Lucas should have been staring at Kate with that expression of his, not me!
Am I… am I suddenly becoming the main character? No! Impossible! In the book, it was Kate Mendes. And Luna was the envious sadistic friend! Even the photographer wasn't even the way the photographer was described in the book!
If the whole plot changes, I won't know how to behave anymore!
Will I be stuck here forever?! But I want to go home! As much as I love staring at these hot dudes and their abs, I still want to go home!
I have a real life!
The photoshoot was done and all I wanted was to get out of here and collect my thoughts.
I checked Kate's phone number on my phone and quickly typed it on Liam's phone and then gave it to Liam's secretary. If the plots keep changing, then I will have to make things go back to the way they originally were.
I'm the villain, the main character.
I know what will happen next; since the photoshoot was done, the photographer will suggest Kate changes and join in the photoshoot.
But staring at the photographer, I had the feeling that he wouldn't propose it, but Liam was staring at me, and I instinctively knew he might propose I join him.
But I beat him to it.
“Oh, Mr Photographer.” I called out, everyone’s attention came to me, “I know I'm no expert but I think Liam Pierce having a combined photoshoot with my friend here would be amazing.”
The photographer paused and turned his gaze to Kate, he raised his eyebrows then turned to look at me with a little smile on his face, revealing small sparkling dentures.
Damn! He's so fine!
“I think that's a really good idea.” He said, “Hello Miss, do you think you can think you can join in the photoshoot?”
Kate gasped and squealed in excitement, “Of course!”
I smiled to myself.
If the plot keeps changing, then I'll need to play Cupid.
The plot shouldn't change! It mustn't!
I stood at the altar with the bouquet of flowers in my hands, looking as beautiful as the morning rose in the wedding dress, as I waited for my groom to show up. The whole audience seemed to be uncomfortable with every passing second. It's been close to an hour, and my groom is a no-show. Whereas, I already knew. I already knew that my groom wouldn't show up. I already knew that he would call off this wedding at the last minute and put me to shame in front of everyone. I will be everyone's laughingstock. And I will go home, I'll cry my eyes out and then I will become a totally changed person, trying to sabotage the life and relationship of everyone around me. How do I know this? Well, because, this… isn't my life. I'm trapped in this mystical realm of the newly released popular novel “Three Hearts, One Love”. I don't know how I got here, I just woke up one morning and found myself here. And the most painful part is that… I'm not the female lead. Yes, as you already know… I'm
I felt like I was going to run mad! It was all too much to take. It felt like it was real! The betrayal from Adrian, the jeer from the audience, and even Kate! “Luna! Are you okay?” Kate asked worriedly, but to me, it felt like she was worried one bit. “Stay away from me!” I yelled at her and violently shoved her away. With tears streaming down my face, I scrambled to my feet and ran down the aisle. I tripped on my wedding dress and fell face-first on the floor. The whole audience erupted with laughter. “Serves you right bitch!” “She's so pathetic!” “What makes her think she's of Adrian's level?” “Oh, I just love this!” "Nobody loves me!" Their voices became so loud in my ear that I covered my ears with my hands. “Stop!” I yelled, “Please stop! Please! I beg of you! Stop!” The laughter and mocking grew louder each second. Kate got to her feet and ran towards me, “Luna…” “I SAID STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!” I yelled at the top of my lungs and got to my feet. I tore the
I woke up with a slight throbbing headache. The sunlight shone through the window casting its soft rectangular room on the floor. I got out of bed and let the showers wash away my sorrows. In the original scene, Luna didn't try to make a phone call to Adrian. She didn't cry the next day. Rather, she decided to put him in her rearview mirror the next day and go to work as if nothing happened. I turned off the shower and came into the room and got dressed for work since it was Monday. My mouth watered at the fresh aroma of the bacon, chicken, and cheese Kate was making. Once I was finished dressing, I headed to the living room where Kate was already setting the table. Her pretty big eyes, which the heartless author gave her, widened in shock as she saw me already dressed in work attire. “You're going to work?” She asked in astonishment as she stood staring at me. “Of course,” I answered taking a seat. Then I began to stuff my face. “Don't tell me you think I'll be here doing not
We were practically mad women by the time we reached Gray Enterprises. We were sweating like goats about to be slaughtered as we couldn't get any cab. We ran through the lobby to the elevator. But the elevator was taking too damn long! We could have taken the stairs if the building hadn't been so high! When the elevator finally arrived, we thanked the stars and took it up the floor. Thankfully, Lucas Gray hadn't made a formal introduction to the employees yet. He was in his new office talking to the vice president. Our coworkers were surprised to see me there. They were at the wedding and had seen how I was embarrassed at my wedding day. “Luna, what are you doing here?” One of them asked. “Shouldn't you be at home?” another asked. “Are you okay?” Another asked. To Luna… to me… it felt like they were still mocking me. “I'm fine,” I said a little curtly. “And please, do not worry about me. Question… why do authors do this? Why do they have to make sure the main characters meet memorably? I mean most novels I've read, it's either they have a one-night stand as strangers and then meet at a later time as employee and boss, making the whole situation awkward or the female lead is in distress and the male lead appears out of nowhere and offers solutions or the male lead has an encounter with the daughter of an enemy and ends up falling for her. Either way, their first encounter with each other is always memorable! And either of them has to change their habits! If a main character is initially cold and heartless, he'll change his ways after meeting the other main character. Predictable! Just look at the way Lucas Gray was staring down at Kate for goddamn sake! Initially, he had angrily turned to lash out at the bumper but his expression changed when he recognized her as the girl he had seen reprimanding an asshole. Then the recognition turned to surprise and then to the
