I'm The Villain Abandoned On My Wedding Day

I stood at the altar with the bouquet of flowers in my hands, looking as beautiful as the morning rose in the wedding dress, as I waited for my groom to show up. The whole audience seemed to be uncomfortable with every passing second. It's been close to an hour, and my groom is a no-show.

 Whereas, I already knew.

I already knew that my groom wouldn't show up.

I already knew that he would call off this wedding at the last minute and put me to shame in front of everyone.

 I will be everyone's laughingstock.

And I will go home, I'll cry my eyes out and then I will become a totally changed person, trying to sabotage the life and relationship of everyone around me.

 How do I know this?

Well, because, this… isn't my life. I'm trapped in this mystical realm of the newly released popular novel “Three Hearts, One Love”.

I don't know how I got here, I just woke up one morning and found myself here.

And the most painful part is that… I'm not the female lead. Yes, as you already know… I'm the villain!

 Pathetic right?

The character who is hated by the readers and who is fated to face her tragic doom in the end.

She either faces a tragic death, goes to jail, or commits suicide.

I don't know why authors give their villains those types of endings, I mean... isn't redemption arc still a thing? Up until now I never really cared, but now that this is my reality, I have to care.

Why can't I be a totally different character from the written villain and not behave as she does? Trust me, I've tried. I've tried changing things the way they were in the novel since I got here.

But each time I try, I either get a migraine and die or a heart attack and die, and when I wake up, I'll have to repeat the scene the way it was originally written, or I'll get a migraine again!

 It's this character's fate! It's MY fate! I can't change it!

I mean, if it were up to me, I wouldn't have attended this wedding because I already knew its outcome.

My real life name is Anna Jones and unlike the character I'm playing, I have a really great life. I have friends who care for me, I have great siblings and my parents are the best. My job is awesome and I live my best life.

What more could I ask for than that?

Unlike my real life, this character, this villain… Luna Graves, her whole life was pathetic! from the start to the end. So pathetic that I even understood her actions without judging her.

Her parents gave her up to the orphanage the moment she was born. Even though she later found out at later time, she didn't resent them. She kept telling herself “They must have had their reasons.”

Growing up at the orphanage wasn't an easy feat, too; the orphanage staff hated her. They treated her like a dirtbag. Always treating her differently from the way the others were treated, giving her smaller portions of food compared to others, and sending her on menial errands a girl her age couldn't do.

But still, she didn't lose hope or hate anyone. She gritted her teeth and bore it in silence.

When she was finally eighteen, she was free to leave the orphanage and live on her own. She took many part-time jobs she could find. Working every hour of the day, nonstop, just so she could survive.

When she had finally gotten to twenty-one years old, she had already saved up enough money to survive. So she quit those part-time jobs and miraculously got a job offer at a prestigious company… Gray Enterprises.

It was at Gray Enterprises that she met her… the flawlessly stunning reverse harem character who was loved by everyone around her… the female lead… Kate Mendes.

From workmates, they became best friends and then roommates.

Three years passed, and Luna had already gotten a boyfriend… Adrian Johnson… the jerk who betrayed her at this wedding.

The betrayal from this wedding was the last stroke that broke the camel's back. Luna's insecurity that she had been managing to shove away these past years finally took control of her, clouding her sense of reasoning.

She felt that everyone was laughing and mocking her, including her best friend, Kate, thus making her a villain.

She became a sadistic moron who gained joy from seeing people suffer… even her best friend… Kate.

I don't know how this novel will end because I didn't even get to chance to finish it before I found myself here.

 But I know one thing.

No matter how hard I try, Luna Graves will finally be exposed and face a tragic ending… one way or another.

I mean… isn't that the typical fate that those heartless authors give their villains just for dramatic effect?

 Damn! I hate authors!

Okay, back to the wedding. Everything was going according to the original scene in the novel.

I'll try not to change a single moment, even the little bit of emotions Luna Graves felt because… damn! I'm tired of experiencing all those migraines and heart attacks!

The audience seated at the church began to murmur… just as in the original scene… and I, Luna Graves, began to panic.

I asked myself, will he show up? Why is he late? Will he abandon me? No, he can't abandon me! Adrian isn't like that, he's the kindest person I've ever known! Adrian isn't capable of doing this to me! He loves me! He proposed to me! He made love to me!

I blinked back the tears as the murmurs began to intensify.

Just then, Jake, Adrian's best friend, apologetically walked down the aisle to where I was standing and then whispered to me.

 “I'm sorry Luna… Adrian won't come.”

On hearing the news, my knees buckled beneath me, and I fell to the floor in despair. I felt that my world had tilted on its axis.

Adrian can't do this to me! No! He can't!

I wanted to cry but no tears came out. The whole church erupted with excited noises.

Kate ran out of the audience and came to console me. She knelt beside me and called out to me.

“Hey, Luna!” She shouted, “It's okay! It's okay! Everything's gonna be okay.”

I turned my head to face her, and at the moment I did, I finally understood Luna.

I didn't see the face of a genuinely worried friend… I saw a gleam of happiness in her face. She was smiling; her curled-up lips mocking me and telling me… “Serves you right bitch!”

I turned to the crowd and I didn't see a single worried audience.

They were all laughing at me, celebrating my downfall.

I don't know if I was seeing it wrong or not, but I knew that this is how the author wrote it from Luna's perspective. This is how Luna felt in this scene.

This is what she saw… this is what I saw … everyone was laughing at her! Laughing at me!

 Including Kate!

I woke up with a slight throbbing headache. The sunlight shone through the window casting its soft rectangular room on the floor. I got out of bed and let the showers wash away my sorrows. In the original scene, Luna didn't try to make a phone call to Adrian. She didn't cry the next day. Rather, she decided to put him in her rearview mirror the next day and go to work as if nothing happened. I turned off the shower and came into the room and got dressed for work since it was Monday. My mouth watered at the fresh aroma of the bacon, chicken, and cheese Kate was making. Once I was finished dressing, I headed to the living room where Kate was already setting the table. Her pretty big eyes, which the heartless author gave her, widened in shock as she saw me already dressed in work attire. “You're going to work?” She asked in astonishment as she stood staring at me. “Of course,” I answered taking a seat. Then I began to stuff my face. “Don't tell me you think I'll be here doing not

But the elevator was taking too damn long! We could have taken the stairs if the building hadn't been so high! When the elevator finally arrived, we thanked the stars and took it up the floor. Thankfully, Lucas Gray hadn't made a formal introduction to the employees yet. He was in his new office talking to the vice president. Our coworkers were surprised to see me there. They were at the wedding and had seen how I was embarrassed at my wedding day. “Luna, what are you doing here?” One of them asked. “Shouldn't you be at home?” another asked. “Are you okay?” Another asked. Thank you.” They were all surprised by my brusqueness, but at that moment, Lucas Gray, a

Question… why do authors do this? Why do they have to make sure the main characters meet memorably? I mean most novels I've read, it's either they have a one-night stand as strangers and then meet at a later time as employee and boss, making the whole situation awkward or the female lead is in distress and the male lead appears out of nowhere and offers solutions or the male lead has an encounter with the daughter of an enemy and ends up falling for her. Either way, their first encounter with each other is always memorable! And either of them has to change their habits! If a main character is initially cold and heartless, he'll change his ways after meeting the other main character. Predictable! Just look at the way Lucas Gray was staring down at Kate for goddamn sake! Initially, he had angrily turned to lash out at the bumper but his expression changed when he recognized her as the girl he had seen reprimanding an asshole.
