Then she suddenly remembered the cause of her pains, her jerk husband. “I hope you feel my pain, Lyon!!” She screamed and get up on her feet, dragging her feet to the kitchen-not without holding her head. She opened the fridge and grab a bottle of water, she gulp down and her eyes ran to the kitchen entrance, she almost flinched and choke on the water when she saw someone with a scary hair standing there. “My God! That scared me! Fiona! I told you to cut that hair! You almost killed me!” She exclaimed dropping the empty bottle in a waste bin. “Good morning ma’am Kath. I’m sorry if I startled you,” The young woman apologized with a smile while Kathryn shook her head. “Morning, you didn’t come yesterday. Well, not to worry I survived,” Kathryn joked while the lady now known as Fiona chuckle. “Yesterday was your anniversary and it’s best if I let you have the romantic moments and I can tell last night went well, I saw the bottles at the living room,” Fiona chip in with a smile while Kathryn faked a smile. “Ohh, you remember?” She asked and Fiona nod. “Of course, who would forget the anniversary of the world handsome man, Lyon Alberto? No one,” Fiona muttered and Kathryn scoffed. “Handsome my foot, everyone seems to remember but Lyon decided to lose his memories of that, tsk,” She mumbled under her breathe as she balled her fist. “You’re talking to me?” Fiona chip in but Kathryn shook her head. “No, I was just talking to myself. You know what to do right? I’m leaving, bye,” Kathryn said and with that she left. Fiona went back to what she was doing not until she heard a soft knock on the kitchen door, she turned. “Good morning Ms.Fiona,” Trisha greeted and Fiona beamed leaving what she was doing and she moved closer to her. “Oh, Trisha! Pleasant morning! It good to see you around,” Fiona responded back with smiles. “Me too, I guess you’re cooking something really nice for the house, hehe,” She joked and they both laughed “Anyways where’s sis?” “She just went back in,” Fiona replied “Alright, I will head in.” With that Trisha left Fiona and went for the stairs-to Kathryn’s room. **** “Sis? Hey… huh? Where’s she?” Trisha asked looking around the room when she couldn’t find Kathryn. “Are you in here?? That’s her phone, Hmm, she’s sure here!” She mumbled then was about calling out her name when the phone beeped. “That’s strange, Kathryn’s phone hardly beeps I mean, she has no friend-oh, Lyon forbid her,” She twisted her lips then went over to the phone. “A picture?” She called and click on the picture, her eyes bawled out and her ear turned red “How-“ “Drop my phone already,” She heard Kathryn’s voice who is just coming back from the swimming pool. Trisha scoffed and looked at her, “Really sis? Did you see this already?” She show the picture of Lyon kissing a lady to Kathryn. Kathryn clenched her jaw at the view but she doesn’t want to show it at her sister’s face. “That must be his business partners, it’s nothing,” She faked a smile. Trisha scoffed angrily, “Don’t cover up for this cheat! Lyon is doing what’s wrong! Is this why he forgot your anniversary!” Trisha yelled but Kathryn pull out the stool at the dressing table and sat on it. She put on a lotion on her face, “What are you doing here? I told you not to come to my house again,” she asked obviously changing the topic but Trisha wasn’t buying it. “Sis! Stop acting like this! Lyon is taking you for granted!!”She yelled and Kathryn angrily dropped the lotion and turn to Trisha with a boiling face. “And you think I don’t know that!” She yelled back and suddenly she dropped tears, “What…what can I do? I’m trying Trisha, What can I do? Divorce him? Fight him? I-“ she couldn’t finish what she was saying when she bust out in tears. Trisha was moved and walk closer to her, she pull her into a warm hug, “If it’s only divorce that can make you feel better, do it.” She whispered into her ear. Kathryn pull away slowly and looked at her sister, “D-divorce?” Trisha nod, “Yes, Divorce.” Kathryn suddenly sprang up, “I..can’t!” Trisha scoffed, “what do you mean you can’t?” “I love Lyon,” She muttered softly “That’s where you’re getting it all confused, it’s one sided love! You know Lyon was forced into this marriage, he didn’t like you!” Trisha snapped remembering her of the obvious. Those words break Kathryn down, “But..” “No buts, There’s no love in this marriage and he cheats! Lyon stood still, his hands akimbo as he stared straight at Kathryn, who was unmoved by his sudden expression. She turned away and turned to meet him, still standing, “you won't accept my condition?” Lyon heaved, unsure of what to say, the only thing running through his mind was, how to make her stay without her making unnecessary demands.“I accept, I guess you're satisfied now.” He said and motioned towards the door, he held the door knob “I’d be waiting downstairs” and dashed out.“Whatever!” She said making sure he wasn't there to hear her.Fiona and martins on hearing the door crack, raced! They've been eavesdropping on them and wouldn't want Lyon to notice that.Lyon's face was expressionless as he stepped out of Kathryn’s room.Lyon headed upstairs to his room, his heart beating a little faster than usual. Pushing open the door, he walked in and turned on the light. The soft glow lit up his tidy room, with the wardrobe standing tall in the corner. He opened the wardrobe and
Martins walked quickly into the house, looking around for Lyon. He found him sitting on the couch, but something about the way Lyon was sitting, tense, shoulders tight, made it clear that he wasn’t fully relaxed. “Fiona said you were resting. Is everything alright?” Martins asked, his tone cautious, sensing something wasn’t quite right. Lyon looked up at him, his eyes a bit sharp, as if the question caught him off guard. He hesitated for a moment, then forced a smile. “Yes,” he said a little too quickly, his voice edged with impatience. Without waiting for Martins to say anything else, Lyon stood up abruptly, as though he couldn’t sit still any longer. His movements were fast, almost hurried, as he rushed past Martins and headed up the stairs. Martins watched him go, standing there for a moment, feeling the odd tension in the air. He wasn’t sure what had just happened, but Lyon’s quick departure and the look on his face told him that something was off. He sighed quietly, unsur
Episode 7“Room 309!” Lyon's phone buzzed on his way out, Martins watching keenly. He took the phone out and sighed as if he knew it was Wendy. He climbs the car as Martins rode off, at intervals, through the mirror, Martins could see how uneasy Lyon was but still maintaining his high esteem.“Are you sure you want to do this?” Martins asked, wondering if he asked right, but seemed to care less.“Do what?” Lyon said, raising a brow.Martins swallowed the lump in his throat, it was a lost conversation already. “Can you be a little faster? We'll stop by at the office after this, I don't want to keep Kathryn waiting.” Lyon said, checking his wrist watch. That sounded intentional than usual, Martins knew Lyon cared for nothing more than his business, now Kathryn is in the picture, whatever she did, she better don't refrain.Soon, they arrived. Lyon didn't have to meet the receptionist since Wendy already sent her room number across.Knock! Knock!“Come in,” Wendy called from inside. Her
Episode 8Kathryn turned as though she didn't hear him well, he has never called her beautiful since they were married and just now, he did. It sounded fascinating but triggered something in her, for a moment she felt like tearing up.She fixed her gaze on him as though urging him to do what was on his mind, how badly she wanted to feel like a woman. She has only read them in stories.“Thank you,” she managed to say, her mind drifting off.Kathryn sat quietly, lost in thought, as she looked at Lyon from across the room. She hadn’t really thought about how their marriage had started in a long time. It wasn’t a love story, not like the ones in movies. It was more like something that had been decided for them. Her parents had arranged it. It wasn’t uncommon in their world. Their families knew each other well, and both saw the marriage as a way to strengthen their social standing. Kathryn’s father had always admired Lyon’s family, wealthy, influential, and well-connected. Lyon’s parents
Episode 9It was late in the afternoon when Trisha arrived at Kathryn and Lyon’s house. She stepped out of her car with purpose, her heels clicking sharply on the driveway as she walked toward the front door. Trisha had never been one to mince words, and today was no exception. She loved her sister, but she wasn’t convinced Lyon deserved the second chance Kathryn seemed willing to give him. Before she could ring the doorbell, the door swung open, and Kathryn stood there, her expression quickly shifting from surprise to guarded irritation. “What are you doing here, Trisha?” Kathryn asked, folding her arms across her chest. Trisha smirked faintly. “That’s a nice way to greet your sister. I just came to check on you.” Kathryn narrowed her eyes. “Check on me or check on Lyon? Because I can already feel where this is going.” “I mean it,” Trisha said, brushing past her and stepping into the house. “I came to see you. But if Lyon happens to be here, well, that’s fine too.” Kathry
Chapter 10Fiona sighed, leaning her head against the doorframe. “Still, I hope she doesn’t ruin this for them. It’s just starting to get good, you know? I mean, look at them, they’re actually acting like a couple. It’s... sweet.” Martins chuckled, his tone teasing. “Sweet? You’re getting soft, Fiona. Next thing I know, you’ll be rooting for a happily-ever-after.” Fiona shot him a playful glare. “Oh, hush. You’re just as invested in this as I am. Don’t even try to deny it.” He raised his hands as though surrendering. “Alright, alright. You got me.” They both chuckled.Fiona smiled, her eyes still focused on the couple in the kitchen. As they turned to leave, giving Lyon and Kathryn their privacy, Fiona glanced back one last time, her heart warming at the sight of Kathryn leaning slightly into Lyon’s touch. “You know,” she said quietly as they walked down the hallway, “I think they might actually make it.” Martins nodded, his usual humour replaced with a rare sincerity. “Yeah
Chapter 36Kathryn stood by the bar in the parlor, her fingers tapping against the cool surface of the countertop. She wasn’t sure if the rhythm of her foot against the floor was to calm her nerves or if it was just an automatic response to the chaos swirling in her head. Lyon is a murderer!Wendy's voice echoed in her mind, cruel and mocking, mixed with that infuriating laugh that made Kathryn want to scream. Her heart felt like it was sinking into her stomach, a pit forming as the weight of the accusation pressed down on her chest. The room around her seemed to blur, her vision narrowing to the thoughts racing in her head. No. This can’t be true. Lyon wouldn’t, he can’t be…Her phone buzzed, cutting through the whirlwind of her thoughts. The screen lit up, and for a moment, Kathryn just stared at it, frozen. She already knew who it was. The unknown number. The one that had been tormenting her.Her fingers moved slowly, almost unwillingly, to unlock the phone. The message from the u
Chapter 35Kathryn stepped into the restaurant, her heels clicking softly against the tiled floor as her eyes darted around the bustling space. She wasn’t sure who she was looking for, but something about this entire setup felt off. She tightened her grip on her handbag, her nerves creeping in as she scanned the tables filled with strangers engaged in quiet conversations. Pulling out her phone, she stared at the last dialed number before reluctantly pressing it again. The line rang twice before the voice picked up. "I'm here," Kathryn said, glancing around nervously. "Where are you?" The voice chuckled, low and mocking. "At your back, buddy." Kathryn froze, a chill running down her spine. Slowly, she turned, and there she was, a face from the past that Kathryn thought she’d never see again. "Wendy…?" Kathryn’s voice wavered, her brows furrowing in shock. "Isn’t it?" Wendy smirked, her lips curving into an all-too-familiar smug grin. "You have a good memory, Katy," she said
Chapter 34Gling! Gling!Kathryn's phone rang, she motioned towards the dinning table where she had left the phone after eating that morning.Unknown number!“Unknown number?” She muttered trying to be sure she saw right. She hasn't been called by unknown contacts before, she grew suspicious but on a second thought, she waved it off.It ranged the second time, since she wasn't able to pick the first time. She picked and placed it on her ear, waiting for the caller to speak first.“Hey, Katy…” the voice came from the other end, “I know you might not remember me…” “Hi, please who's this?” Kathryn asked, an etch of concern written all over her face.“Some, you'd love to meet…” The voice chuckled, leaving Kathryn more confused than ever. She lifted the phone from her ear and placed it back, trying to ascertain who the person was.“See, I don't have time for all of this, if you don't want to tell me who you are, then get the fuck out!” Kathryn roared and ended the call.Kathryn’s phone bu
Chapter 33“Congratulations, Mrs Alberto, you're two weeks pregnant!” Their family doctor, Dr Leo announced to Kathryn, who laid on the bed, smiling boldly.“Thank you, doctor!” Kathryn gestured as the doctor packed his kits up, nodding slightly.“And…. doctor,” she called, when he was almost leaving, “I want to be the first person to announce it to my husband.”Dr Leo nodded, “off course Mrs Alberto,” he said and left.Kathryn laid back in the bed, smiling and chuckling, she rubbed her tummy slightly, “I will be the best mum ever, okay?” She muttered, her hands on her tummy.Fiona barged into the room, her face lighting up with joy as she caught sight of Kathryn lying on the bed, her hand absentmindedly rubbing her tummy. Fiona gasped dramatically, clasping her hands together as if she’d just uncovered the best secret in the world. "Congratulations!" she screamed, running across the room like a child who’d just been handed candy. She threw her arms around Kathryn, pulling her into
Chapter 32Two months passed, and the house that once felt like a cold battleground now echoed with laughter and quiet moments of tenderness. Lyon and Kathryn’s love, began to blossom like a garden finally given the care it needed. Kathryn had noticed the little things first, the way Lyon waited for her before meals, the way he held her hand longer than necessary when they were out, and how his eyes softened every time he looked at her. She started to see sides of him she didn’t know existed: the man who stayed up with her when she couldn’t sleep, who listened to her stories about childhood, and who teased her just enough to make her laugh without crossing the line. For Lyon, the change was undeniable. He couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment he fell for Kathryn all over again, or perhaps for the first time, but every day, he felt his walls crumble a little more. Her smile became the highlight of his mornings; her voice, the melody that soothed his evenings. She wasn’t just his wif
Chapter 31Lyon's voice echoed behind Kathryn, who was standing still.“I wish I could turn time around,” Lyon continued, his eyes a little dim and alluring. Kathryn stood, her back to him, not uttering a word, she didn't want to.Lyon stepped quietly toward her, his footsteps almost inaudible on the soft carpet. Kathryn stood by the window, her arms crossed over her chest, staring out into the dark night as if searching for answers in the void. His hands gently circled her waist, pulling her out of her thoughts. The warmth of his touch startled her. She gasped softly, her breath catching in her throat as his hands moved lightly, tracing the line down her back. The unexpected intimacy sent a shiver through her, but she didn’t pull away. “Please…” she murmured, her voice unsteady. It wasn’t a plea for him to stop, it was a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite articulate. She turned to face him, her eyes wide and filled with questions, her heart racing. Lyon met her gaze with an exp
Chapter 30Kathryn’s father took Lyon's hand,, shaking firmly, his grip lingering just a moment longer than necessary. “I see you’ve made yourself comfortable,” he remarked, glancing at the spread on the table before returning his attention to Lyon. “I guess you’re here for your wife?” he continued, his tone light but laced with something that wasn’t entirely welcoming. Kathryn's mom stared angrily at him for welcoming Lyon so well, knowing fully well, what he had done. The dining table was finally clear, and the clatter of plates being stacked and taken to the kitchen echoed faintly through the room. Lyon sat upright in his chair, his gaze shifting from the cleared table to Kathryn’s mother, who was meticulously wiping her hands with a towel. He hesitated for a moment, gathering his thoughts, then spoke. “Thank you for the meal, ma’am,” he said, his tone respectful but slightly uneasy. “It was delicious.” Kathryn’s mother didn’t respond. She didn’t even look at him. Instead,
Chapter 29Lyon stepped forward hesitantly, his hands hovering in the air as though unsure if he was allowed to touch her. But seeing her like that, so broken and vulnerable, pushed him past his hesitation. Gently, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, wrapping them around her trembling frame. “I’m sorry,” he muttered, his voice muffled as he buried his face in her hair. “I’m so sorry, Kathryn. I was wrong. I was so wrong.”Kathryn didn’t resist. Instead, she melted into him, her hands gripping his jacket tightly as though it was the only thing keeping her upright. The warmth of his embrace, the steadiness of his voice, broke down the last of her defenses. Her tears soaked through his shirt, but Lyon didn’t care. He held her as though letting go was no longer an option, his arms tightening around her with each passing second. From a few feet away, Martins stood watching the scene unfold. He leaned against the car, his arms crossed, his face a mask of quiet contemplation. He h
Chapter 28Lyon stepped out of the house, his movements sharp, but there was a tension in the way his shoulders held. His suit was crisp, his tie slightly undone, but he didn’t care. He adjusted his cufflinks once, twice, as though trying to focus his restless energy. Martins was already outside, leaning casually against the car door, scrolling through his phone. He looked up as Lyon approached, immediately straightening and slipping the phone into his pocket. "Sir," Martins greeted, opening the car door for him. Lyon didn’t waste time. “We’re going to Kathryn’s house,” he said, his voice calm but with an edge that left no room for discussion. Martins paused for a split second, his brows pulling together slightly in silent question, but he quickly nodded. He walked around to the driver’s side, pulling open the door. Just as Lyon was about to step into the car, Fiona came hurrying out from the kitchen door, wiping her hands on her apron.Lyon's suit was sharp, perfectly tailo
