CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: Marius is Back

MARIUS’ POV:

"I offered Hazel $10 million to leave you. She accepted it and left without hesitation." - That’s what dad said, which mom, Lilian and Vincent backed up.

At first, I tried to convince myself that Hazel can never do something so callous. But then, fragments of our last day before the accident surfaced in my mind: She’s angry with a desperate desire to run away from me. The money is just a bonus to her, she needs that for Sammy’s medical bills.

I’ve fought so hard for her, sacrificed so much. And this is how she repaid me?

She doesn’t love me the way she loved Carter. Perhaps, she has never loved me at all. I don’t deserve being hurt like this. It’s time to forget her and move on.

I’m on my bed, staring blankly at my balcony’s glass doors when mom comes in.
