CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE: Lilian Won't Go Down!

LILIAN’S POV:

Slap!

The sting of dad’s action reverberates painfully through half of my face. I struggle to maintain my composure under his wrathful eyes. Marius, Vincent, and Betty stand around us in the living area as silent witnesses to my disgrace.

"I only did it because I was so madly in love with Carter. It blinded me to making proper decisions."

"Who is Morgan's real father?!" dad demands.

I can’t tell him that. If I admit it, dad will disown me and Vincent... or he may kill us both.

Thankfully, Marius’ lips remain zipped up, though his disappointment at me is evident in his hard gaze that’s flickering between me and Vincent.

Vincent, usually so arrogant and self-assured, looks pale and terrified. But he’d rather see me like this than to s.hit on himself.

I can hear Betty’s mind screaming; ‘Like mother, like daughter’ with her infuriating little smirk.
