Erin Lockheart's POV

I chuckled dryly, there was a pause before I answered, "What are you talking about, Charlotte? Of course, I'm Erin."

"Not the Erin I knew." Charlotte asked, "You're not her, aren't you?"

I was dumbfounded. I didn't know how to react or what I should say. Should I tell her the truth? Wouldn't I sound insane if I did? In my silence, she found my answer. Charlotte smiled gently, "Can I ask if the real Erin died?"

I could only imagine the pain she was feeling right now. Erin was her closest friend and the fact that she knew I wasn't the real Erin but hoped that I was must be so devastation for her. She deserved to know the truth, in the very least so I nod.

The real Erin died on her birthday. She took her life because she couldn't bear it anymore. I died in my world and lived Erin's life as another chance. I didn't know why Erin, or why I was reincarnated at all, but I was. Charlotte sniffled, "Thank you for telling me. It makes... everything easier now."

She hated me so much that she slept on the couch to avoid me. I couldn't blame her. I looked away and said, "Oh, right. The ball. I should get going.""Yeah, you should."There was now a great divide between us and I knew I was to blame. I headed to my dressing room and prepared for the ball, which I have no interest in, but it was my duty to ensure that my people feels safe with the lineage. On my way there, I bumped into a familiar face, it was Luna. I was about to stand up but I realized that I wasn't strong enough yet. So he stated, "Don't push yourself. After such grave injuries, I was expecting you'd wake up after at least a week."Injuries. Ah right. That happened. I looked over my right arm that was completely covered in bandages and remembered how Cadmus violently attacked me and killed Tristan. The thought of it still sends shiver down my spine."Why did you take me in?" I asked. "You asked me to save you." Kai Griffin's POVUpon the Lockhearts' arrival, I sat upon my throne with Erin at my side. Their eyes deliberately avoided Erin's except for her father's, whose gaze bore straight into mine, pointedly ignoring Erin's presence. Erin's father was as cold as rumors painted him to be—a man of aristocratic cruelty, even among the high-born Lockhearts, some native to Lunaria and others descended from foreign royal bloodlines to try and claim throne for Lunaria Kingdom."They know little of Lunaria," I muttered under my breath.Straightening in my seat, I addressed them coolly, "Welcome to Raewavell. I am eager to hear your petitions to claim rulership over the Kingdom of Lunaria. The people of Lunaria are here as witnesses—they will be the ones you lead.""I hail from House Moonstone, esteemed as the firstborn son and the foremost warrior of our kingdom. Luna's eyes widened in horror as she glanced back, only to meet Cadmus's gaze filled with profound disappointment and seething hatred. Only then was Luna able to realize the death that surrounded her and how, for the longest time, she turned a blind eye to all her wrongdoings because she wanted Cadmus to see her.To actually see her.Cadmus's expression hardened as he stared at Luna, his voice thick with disappointment. "You wanted me to see you, Luna," he said, each word laced with bitterness. "Well, here you are. You lost and you killed everyone."Luna recoiled as the weight of her actions crashed down upon her. The garden lay in ruins, the air heavy with the acrid scent of smoke and the lingering echoes of their battle.
