The first thing I did after conversing with Starr was place a call to the executive director of Margaret Briggs Charter School for Jayden's admission. It's a school I had helped create and one which my mother had originally founded. She was once a passionate educator, now confined to a wheelchair following a mild stroke she developed a few months ago.

Revving the engine of my car to a halt, I walked into my mother's apartment. It was located in the suburbs of Atlanta, Brookhaven precisely. As I took the elevator, my mind roamed over the tasks I needed to address that day to ensure Starr’s career ran smoothly.
