My car tyres screeched as I drove out of the garage, hitting the road at full speed. I was already late to work, thanks to Sasha who had kept me busy with talks about the British royal family. I would've loved to continue talking about them, but I had my own life to live.

I wound down the car windows, feeling the cozy air hit my face as I drove. My ears were occupied by the softly jamming music on the radio, and I joined in singing the chorus to the song.

“ Baby you're a firework.

Come and let your colors burn.

Let it go oh, oh, oh.

As you you shoot across the sky tonight!”

I sang softly. The song had been on repeat on my mp3 player when Katy Perry released it, together with Roar, back in 2013. I was still surprised that I even remembered the lyrics.

“ Yo, good morning everyone. Hope we're all having a good day”, a friendly female voice said from the radio, interrupting the music. Why the hell couldn't they let the song finish before saying whatever rubbish t

“ Really? You're going to the criminal case department?” Galinda asked after I told her. “ Yeah”, I nodded, kind of feeling nervous. “ But why?” “ I just think that I should do it, you know?” “ That's so bad. Hakim will be so downcast. He was so expectant about you coming. It was super clear that he was happy that someone was going to train under him, and that that person was you”, she sighed. “ What? He was what? Expectant?” I was surprised. “ Of course. He even talked about how you were so smart and all, and how you will even do better than he is doing in court if you ever master the caprices of court”, she said, not even batting an eye. If it was a lie, then she must've stood in her mirror and practiced the lie several times before it would be able to fly out of her mouth the way it did. “ Wow. I'm surprised”, I said, feeling the temperature on my cheeks rising. “ Well, let's look at the positive side, it's not so bad, and you'll be returning in two months, so it

It was stupid of me to ask. He was wearing a uniform, one that made his outline more firm and rigid, the kind of sight that always made me think about what might be behind those clothes. He was definitely bulky, and thinking about it now, I loved how his whole body almost suffocated me the couple of times he was on top of me. “ A detective? Woah, that's uh……….. that's cool”, I said, scratching the back of my head. “ You know him from somewhere?” The other cop that was standing with him asked, probably seeing how agitated I was. His creepy eyes were like a natural scanner, one that was able to read even the smallest details in a room. “ Yeah, yeah”, Basil responded, looking at him and looking back at me as he said, “ we had quite a special encounter”. I would've rolled my eyes if he had said that over a phone. Yes we had a special encounter, but did he have to tell everyone? Okay, he didn't tell everyone, but he said it in front of Mr Creepy, and I could've bet my little a

“ You know that guy that I told you I was with on the night that I was supposed to take you bowling?” I said to Sasha as I settled on the couch, munching on some super tasty potato chips. “ Yeah”, she replied, taking her gaze away from the television. “ Okay, so, I didn't tell you this, but I met with him the following day”. “ After the first day?” “ Yeah”. “ That's surprising. I thought you didn't hook up with people more than once?” She asked. “ Yeah, but there was no one else, and I didn't want to go to some bar with the intention of looking for who to fuck me, he was the only one available”. “ Well I'm pretty sure that hundreds of men out there in gay clubs would want to fuck you”, she said, raising her eyebrows. “ Yes, you're right, but I didn't make reservations or get a ticket, and you obviously wouldn't expect me to go to these roadside club with dirty, smelling guys”, I retorted, backing up my actions with reasons. “ Okay, so what happened?” “ The thing

Dante's POV Hakim stared at me with his green eyes full of disgust. Those emerald green eyes that I loved so much were now cold and icy. He hated me with all his guts, and he never failed to show that with every little chance he got. “ Fag”, he hissed. He couldn't get creative with his abusive names. It usually made me feel obligated to sit him down and teach him how to properly use abusive names. “ What did I do this time, Hakim?” I asked, trying so hard to keep my composure as his eyes bored into mine. Some students walked past us and saw what was happening, but the terror in their eyes could only allow them to stare at the whole thing from afar off. “ I'll tell you what you did”, Hunter interjected, “ I saw you staring at our dicks in the locker room, and it wasn't your first time doing it, you fucking pervert”, he spat on my face. “ Spare me the crap. You guys flatter yourselves too much, they wasn't even much to stare at”, I said as I wiped the spit off my face, trying

Eight years later……………….. I rolled over to my side and looked at the person right next to him. Judging from how he snored, his chest rising in tide with his breath, he was still in a deep state of slumber. That meant that I could leave the room without him noticing. I looked at the wall clock and the long clock hand immediately merged with the short clock hand - it was 12:00 AM, I had to get out of there. Hold on, I know what you're thinking, Dante you're such a slut, well, guess what? I deserve it. I had come a long way since high school. I was no longer the thin, soft, bony, nerd who looked like he could get blown away by the wind. I worked so hard to change that image of mine, to change from the old Dante to the Dante I was; the new Dante. I constantly worked out to give myself that physique I wanted, and I locked myself away from ever falling in love with anyone. If love was in the air, I would hold my breath and rather suffocate than breath in the stupid love that was in

“ Well, well, well, if it isn't Dante Davids? How are you doing pal?” He asked, a smirk on his face, one that I felt the urgent need to slap off. I just stood there, staring in disbelief, refusing to believe my own eyes. “ Why don't you guess how I'm doing?” I said, overcome by the need to shove him off. “ You definitely do not look bad”, he said and I inhaled and exhaled sharply just to calm down, “ I thought it was you when I saw the name on the job application but I didn't want to believe it, but here you are Dante”, there was a glint in his eyes. “ In status quo”, I said, my head throbbing, my heart pounding so loudly that I feared that he could hear it. “ Don't mind me, you actually look great. Like, I'm totally mesmerized”, he said and I couldn't help but wonder why he of all people should be mesmerized by the person I was. I guess I didn't turn out as bad as he had hoped. “ You still look the same, like the corky hot asshole you were”, I said and immediately wond

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Four

Hakim's POV I was able to recognize Dante even before I could recognize my own mother. That was how attached we were as babies, and substantially grew up, bonded together as children. He was always this tiny looking human being that was always frail and fragile, looking like something that could be snapped into two. But the more frail and fragile he looked, the more I felt the burning need to protect him, to shield him. I remember when we were still in kindergarten. Mom had dropped me off at his place to go get some groceries and stuff. He was intensely watching SpongeBob SquarePants, his whole being engrossed in the television. His mom came out of the kitchen and did some ranting about him being addicted to SpongeBob before taking the remote control and turning it off, making him to start crying. His cries almost made me go crazy, and as little as I was, maybe at five or six years old, I waged war against his mother, following her to the kitchen and beating her legs with my lit

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Five

Dante's POV He was a good kisser. Basil. He was technically the best kiss I had in a while. His tongue glided into my mouth, searching for the unknown, seeking humble dominance, and I allowed it as it penetrated, while sucking at my lower lip. He tasted sweet, not sweet like honey or ice cream, but sweet like an over diluted orange juice. I pushed him against the bed and mounted on top of him, taking control as I moved to his neck, sucking on his hickey spot. He moaned in pleasure, that masculine sound that usually seemed strong and impenetratable sounding vulnerable all of a sudden, and I relinquished in that knowledge; I had him right where I wanted him. He turned me over and took over, kissing every inch of my body as he trailed down. He took my nipple into his mouth and did wonders with it. He wasn't biting on it, and he wasn't also just sucking it, it was like a combination of both, and the feeling made me cringe and chuckle as I grabbed his hair. He worked on both nipp

  • I Never Hated You     Chapter Ten

“ I think I'll have to handle criminal cases for now”, I said to Sasha the next day. “ I had thought about it all through the night, and I don't just think that I'm ready to put all that happened behind me”. I saw my reflection on the glassy center table, and even though the image was vague and unclear, the heavy bags under my eyes sparked immediate attention, putting itself out very noticably, just like how the sun took up attention on a sunny day. She looked at me with a neutral expression, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind. Even though she had abandoned her Therapist profession to venture into travel writing, I could still tell that she was analyzing my situation and decision, and probably thinking of appropriate words to use in relaying her thoughts. The therapist was still in her. “ You are quite sure that you gave it a long thought?” She asked, taking her eyes away from me for a sec to place the kettle on the burner. “ Yes, I did”, I said

Of course he was great, he was absolutely wonderful. The way he nailed it and got Mr Brown out of harms way was spectacular, and even the way he addressed the issue in court was basically every lawyer's dream. If I could handle cases like that, and get everyone to believe that my client isn't guilty of theft even when the stolen items are right in his possession, mehn, the sky will be my starting point. I will surely be going on vacations to that hotel that Elon Musk is trying to build on Mars. “ Please tell me, how was my performance?” He asked again, and I rolled my eyes, clenching my fingers around the wheel. “ Not too bad”, I said, “ your client didn't receive full penalty for his obvious actions and wasn't convicted, so I guess it's a win”. Of course I wasn't going to tell him that I was practically left speechless by his performance. I still hated him, but that didn't mean that I was blind to his talent, and he had a knack for what he was doing. No wonder he was so fam

I quickly regained my composure, picked up the box and placed it in the backseat, smelling his perfume in the car, and gosh, I felt like choking - don't mind me, it smelled so nice, but I wouldn't agree to that. “ Galinda said I'll be driving you to court?” I asked, holding my head high. “ Did she?” He asked, amusement clearly written on his face. “ Let's make this clear sir, you employed me, yes, as a lawyer, and not as your driver, and permit me to say that this will be the last time that this kind of thing will ever happen”, I would've added ‘ have I made myself clear?’ “ Okay”, he said, sounding unoffended, much to my surprise. He got into the car and I zoomed off, still feeling angry but not knowing exactly why. I watched him from the rear mirror as he absorbed himself into his iPad, and I felt the rising sensation to jump to the back of the car and strangle him to death. “ Unless you want to get us both killed, I recommend that you turn your gaze and pay attention

“ Yes, what can I help you with?” The Stiles guy said, inspecting us through the windshield he called glasses. They were just enormous for his eyes, and they seemed pretty heavy too. His ears were surely lifting a ton of weight just by holding those glasses up, and another thing; he wasn't Cole, but had an uncanny resemblance to him. “ Have you prepared the digital files that Mr Mali would be needing for the trial this morning?” Galinda asked, stopping right in front of him and placing one of her hands on her hip and the other on his desk. “ Mr Mali has a case this morning?” He asked, bewildered, his almost shut eyes taking a wider width that should have been normal. He indeed looked so much like Cole. He was chubby, but in a sexy kind of way, cleanly cut, hairy, but not too much, with visible dimples on his cheeks. “ No, he's going to the hospital this morning, and probably, when he gets back, he's going to be carrying with him, the little baby that he gave birth to”, Galind

“ Good morning Mr Mali”, I said, still sitting, not even giving a shit about what he might think or how he would feel, “ to what do I owe this August visit?” “ Good morning Dan…. Oh, Mr Davis. I'm sure Galinda must've informed you that you'll be training under me”, he said, looking as dashing as a character out of a fictional book, his hair neatly tucked, his suit nicely worn, with the bridges as straight as the owner. “ Yes she did”, I said, looking up at him, and I hated it. It felt as if I was little, as if I was technically a child looking up to him. I should've really stood up, now I regret it. “ Okay. I have a case by 11:00 AM, so Galinda will help you prepare everything I would be needing for the case”. “ Okay sir”, I brought my face down immediately, opening my laptop and peering into it with no reason in particular. I had expected him to leave after delivering his message, but he still stood there for what seemed like two minutes, staring at me as I stared into my c
