CALVIN’S POV:

I heard her mumble, "No, it’s okay." She paused somehow before continuing with a sigh, "I run away from there because the people who manage that orphanage are somehow cruel and I can’t stand seeing and experiencing the physical abuse that they are doing to us." I sat up and looked in her direction, but I could only see her lying down while looking at the ceiling as she added blankly, "I don’t want to leave those other children there, but I don’t have any choice since I don’t want to die just because of the beating, Cal."

I sighed at this when I heard the sadness and remorse in her voice. I couldn’t help but feel pity and sympathy for her for the things that happened to her.

I heaved a sigh and mumbled, "I’m sorry for asking."

She replied weakly, with a hint of affection in her voice, "No, it’s okay since I am fine now, especially since I already have so many people who value me and I am not alone anymore."
